Unifi vs Araknis with Control4

Recommended Posts

There's some small things that can be done within C4 with drivers, but the primary reason it's used often is that it's well supported, indeed supported by the same company (who's support channels are nearly unequalled) and relative easy of setup AS WELL as ease of remote management of both the system and the network (more is being included regularly).

Araknis network features are a very good match for a C4 system (and smart home systems overall) in no small part because they are made to be so.

That said there are no overly specific direct 'advantages' for the end user within the a C4 system as such - and there's nothing specific against using a unifi system (some 'edge' pieces have some known issues, for ease stay away from those). So if you know and are comfortable with ubqt go ahead -assuming of course your C4 dealer of choice is willing to work with it (many if not most C4 dealers will want to specify specific gear they know, are comfortable with and, as mentioned, know they'll get full support with)

Well said above..  A couple of additional considerations....

- Performance / Cost ratio may be higher with the Unifi setup and future upgrades

- Unifi GUI likely offers more network transparency, ease of management and control for the end user

- and many users, including myself, use it with C4 systems with no issues.  For someone already with a Unifi setup, it seems logical to stay put and just find a C4 dealer that is comfortable in working in that network environment which there are many.
