faknit
Has anyone tried using the Apple Siri Shortcuts driver for commands when not on your internal network? It seems like it'd be relatively straightforward to NAT to to C4 controller?
cnicholson
Seems like port forwarding should work, but I have not tried. I wonder if that is even needed. AFAIK, with HomeKit, the device "doing the thing" is your active HomeKit "Hub" which is probably an Apple TV or HomePod that is always inside your firewall-- meaning you might not need direct network access from your iPhone to the C4 box. Have you tried it? Just turn off WiFi on your phone and see if your Cellular network "just works"....
J to the D
Yes with HomeKit you can control stuff without being on the internal network. For example I have a shortcut set up to open my gate and garage door when coming home. Just surfaced these devices in HomeKit from Control4 and then use HomeKit. Very easy to do and works great. faknit
I'm very delayed in this reply, but just as an FYI, port forwarding works just fine. I don't have HomeKit yet and I was just looking for a quick solution.
lippavisual
Port forwarding potentially opens up a whole other can of worms. Not recommended. RyanE and msgreenf
