ave4uevoli
I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I want to integrate hikvision wifi cameras onto my system. My system is running 2.10.6 with an ea-5 The hikvision camera i'm trying to install is a DS-2cv2041g2-idw I had my dealer install some random drivers into the system so I could play with them. I have a hikvision driver as well as ispy drivers (one with a place to enter a mjpeg url and one without) So here's my basic problem, I can NOT get thumbnails/preview working on my Android phone or touchscreens. However, I get previews on my ipad. So on the driver side: the hikvision drivers basically automatically detect the new cameras. They get the right model # and firmware, I can see the preview and pull up the video on my ipad. I can pull up video, but the preview/ thumbnail remains a "no image blank space" on my android phone and touchscreens. I can't enter in a snapshot url in this driver. The ispy drivers. After entering in all the ip address, port info, login, etc. After some searching I even got the correct urls for the RTSP and the snapshot. The RTSP url works in VLC and it works on my phone, ipad and touchscreens. The thumbnail/snapshot http url works in Chrome - I can pull an image, but the preview only works on my Ipad - my android phone and touchpad are blank spaces I am going nuts. I have tried resizing the image using query parameters. I've gone all the way from 1920x1080, 720x480, 640x480, even down to 320x 240 and it resizes in chrome after checking the dimensions, but I can't, no matter what I do get a thumbnail to work on my phone or the touchscreens. for example i've got this in my snapshot url now: ISAPI/Streaming/channels/102/picture?videoResolutionWidth=1920&videoResolutionHeight=1080&output-format=jpg I've changed all different combinations of digest and basic authentication. On the camera side I've tried all the different resolutions offered of the substream (not that it should matter as all I want is a thumbnail and the video does already work) I've gone from 1280x720p all the way down to 640x480. I've toggled it from h.264 to mjpeg... and I can still get video - but I can never get a preview on my android phone or those darn touchscreens. Does anyone have any ideas?? msgreenf
Why haven't you upgraded to os 3? Andrew luecke
ave4uevoli
Yes, I understand that OS3 has live previews and I wouldn't have to deal with snapshots. However this project is a second home and I have one property on OS 2 and one on OS3. That way I can have two easy access icons on my phone. Connecting to a different controller via the settings button is too slow. Unfortunately the one I'm trying to get these cameras to work on is on OS 2. Thanks for the reply though
msgreenf
The right solution is to upgrade to os 3. Switching properties is very fast now. Ask @South Africa C4 user Cinegration
RAV
TLDR details. Maybe that the driver you're trying to use requires OS3.

Strongly recommend OS3 and it is simple enough to switch between properties in one app. Cinegration

Ask @South Africa C4 user Thank you. I will do this if I can't figure it out. I'm going to try some Dahua cameras. Maybe it's just the way hikvision pumps out their snapshots that makes it incompatible with the android and touchscreens. So weird that the previews show up on the ipad. I'm using the same driver that I currently have 8 other axis cameras on (and I'm trying a bunch of other drivers my dealer installed for me to play with). The previews and video work with those cameras.

I really just want to get this to work. Theoretically it should, and it bugs me that I can't do it HAHA Sorry, I didn't know how to quote multiple people on a single reply. Thank you all for your help. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions if you happen to have any flashbacks of messing with OS2 South Africa C4 user
Ryanjackson
curious why your moving away from the axis cameras?
ave4uevoli
3 hours ago, Ryanjackson said: curious why your moving away from the axis cameras? I'm not - I have 8 old bnc cctv cameras that I've been upgrading over the years that run to an axis video server that digitizes the image and gives each camera an IP address and it still works great. Don't laugh, this is a really old house, and I've been a c4 customer for 15+ years. I'm just adding more cameras now. Neighborhood is changing. It's too structurally difficult to run new cat cables from my equipment cabinet to where I want these additional cameras, so I'm trying to make wifi cameras work. The theory was that I could just pull the snapshot and rtsp feeds from the wifi cameras just like I would any other plugged in camera.
