  1. Correct, it does not use a battery. I am now using the Z2IO for my garage door relay and contact sensor, it replaced an old HC300 I was previously using to do the same thing. Works just fine and have not had any issues with it in the 6-8 months I've had it setup.
  2. Which driver did you start with as a base? I'm happy to throw some development time at this as well, I agree it would be a useful drive to have. Maybe not for many of our customers, but certainly in my own system!
  3. Which we have seen at least a couple of times that I can think of. Sure it's nice while they work, until they don't work... then you're stuck. I am constantly trying new drivers and devices in my system to stay on top of things. My system is solid and IP drivers don't just "stop" working. I don't know what kind of networks people have out there that have had such poor luck with IP control. But to me, that's a poor network design or implementation that is causing the issues, and needs to be addressed. DO IP drivers solve every problem? No. Is it nice when an IP driver is available over IR or Serial? Sure. I'm not seeing the huge draw for control of game consoles, either. Maybe for DVD/Blu-ray control but that's it? It's a game console, that's why it has a game controller with it. If you want "rock solid" control for video playback, buy a dedicated player for that particular media. Otherwise, complaints need to be made to the manufacturers of these devices (Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, etc.).This is not a Control4 problem, they have no control (no pun intended) over what these console manufacturers do or don't want to allow. EDIT: And long ago I thought IR capabilities on the remotes might be nice, but that just introduces too many variables. Using your phone or tablet to control the room? Out of luck. Didn't point the remote perfectly at a picky device? Out of luck. The list goes on.
  4. Yeah, I personally don't see where I'd use it in my own system, much less any client systems we've installed over the years. PS4, XBox and the like I'd be more inclined to use IR on them given the limited amount I'd be controlling them anyway. Bluetooth is finicky enough with headphones and car connectivity, I don't think I'd want to carry that potential headache over to AV systems that need to "just work". As others have said, the ROI for this seems very limited which is probably why it's never been considered. I know this is the first time I've seen it come up myself. Neat idea, but limited in application.
  5. It is a standard USB to mini-USB cable, so you could pick one up on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-USB-2-0-Cable-Male/dp/B00NH11N5A/
  6. Looking forward to giving this new driver a try versus the old free one that has been floating around for many years. The old one is light on features (just handles basic control) but always works just fine so I'll be happy to try out this one! Thank you!
  7. Apparently pretty quietly! I just added the driver to my project and it works nicely, even grabs the favorites that were set via the SiriusXM web app or mobile app
  8. But the driver has not been released yet, either. I stand corrected! Just checked again and I see it is now in Composer. Sweet!
  9. I am completely OK with fixed volume. There are too many variables that I can think of in my own system if I started adding additional zones to the original one that would complicate what the Spotify app volume is actually controlling. It did not even cross my mind till I read it here.
  10. There is currently a limit of 10 Spotify drivers per project, but that is being worked on.
  11. While I am just taking a guess here, that is probably referring to older controllers that had internal hard drives for storage (HC-500, for example).
  12. Interesting - what documentation? I'm going to dig into the programming some more in DLS tonight and see if I can get this last kink worked out.
  13. Yep, odd indeed. Firmware version of the driver? It is the latest. Firmware version of the panel is 4.5 and is the minimum required for the IT-230. IT-230 should be correctly configured in the panel, based on the directions outlined in the IT-230 install guide that I followed. This seems like the only hang-up for now, otherwise it seems to be working well!
  14. Update: communication appears to be the same whether or not a power adapter is used on the converter. The new IT-230 security driver doesn't have a full virtual keypad like the older drivers. Here is a screenshot: Turns out I can arm using the master code in the Control4 app, but not with my regular user code (which does work for arming/disarming on the regular alarm keypad).
  15. That's what I'm thinking - ran out of time to mess with it last night but I'm planning to try it again with power tonight.
  16. So, as it turns out the converter may not actually need to be powered. I have it working now and it is not plugged into a power adapter. I spent some time playing wit this last night and just had some TX/RX lines flipped. Straightened that out, verified I had the correct programming done on the panel, and fired it up. I must still need to adjust some programming as I can't arm the panel from Control4 (even though remote arming is enabled, user & installer code are present, etc).
  17. Okay, I ended up ordering this yesterday morning so we'll see how it works out. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00068U44I
  18. Where did you order the power adapter from?
  19. I'm thinking it needs to be powered. I hooked it up yesterday and wasn't getting any communication through it. Time to track down a 12v 2.5mm power adapter!
  20. Yeah, if you must have the new UI and functionality but already have an integration with the IT-100, I would just go with the Houselogix driver. I had not yet tied my alarm panel into my Control4 system (I just moved and hadn't gotten around to it), so IT-230 was the logical choice for me.
  21. The KB article was finally published a couple of days ago. Bought a 4WSD9TB today and I'll get it hooked up next week when it arrives.
  22. Did you have a chance to give the adapter (4WSD9TB) another try over the weekend? My IT-230 arrived, and now I just need to decide on an RS422-232 adapter. I'll probably just order the same one, given that it is the recommended one. Just want to make sure there aren't some looming issues with it first!
  23. Yeah, I am looking for an externally-powered one now that has decent reviews.
