DONE! I'm off my soapbox. To make sure I understand - this driver would allow me to pull up the C4 app, type in text and choose which rooms I want it read to, and have it will audible deliver that message over the speakers? If so, I'm super pumped!

What I think that they fail to realize, is that whether they like it or not, a massive percentage of the folks that would buy these drivers are the people that want to manage and administer it themselves. Now, I realize Control4 has a dealer model and that's fine - but despite that dealer model these people still exist and leverage Control4. I feel like everyone who is publishing drivers to DriverCentral, and supporting DriverCentral in only allowing Control4 dealers to buy drivers or have an account with them, is missing out on a sizable amount of revenue. There's a number of drivers that I'd love to buy, but take the energy to develop my own solution despite it being more work because I can do it without involving someone else.

Yeah, it's a pretty terrible system.

My biggest issues are that they won't let ME buy drivers, and that my "DriverCentral" driver appears to be tied to one particular DriverCentral dealer, that I'm then forced to work with on anything I want from DriverCentral. I've got someone that has helped me with the one DriverCentral driver I have (which I was forced in to by Alan Chow leaving Houselogix and going over there) but I don't like it being dependent on any one specific person.

If anyone on here is a Caseta Pro dealer/distributor and wants to give me a quote, please reach out. Like I said - would like to stick with C4 lighting but need to evaluate the cost difference.

So the PICO remotes are basically their solution for 3 way switches, and they're battery powered. Is this correct? And the PICO remotes for audio and the 2 button PICO remotes can be added and fully integrated in to Control4? What happens if I go over the 50 device limit? Do I need to setup a second system? Could those take to each other? Just wondering if I could do an upstairs system and a downstars system. Something that. Wanting to go the C4 route, just trying to evaluate cost differences.

Agreed. I just think DriverCentral is a terrible platform and unfortunately, if that’s the only way to buy them I won’t be buying any. It’s a shame. Same with Alans stuff - several I’d love to buy but (unless I’m missing something) that platform just does not work for me.

So - this is concerning. In my new house I was planning to engrave everything, but this would drive me INSANE. Looks like I'll save my money, unless someone can post of something that works to solve the problem. My wife would very much appreciate the engraving/labels, but sounds like I'll just need to stick to labels (which sucks).

What did you read that has you overly concerned? Snap A/V is a VERY successful business, with a lot of distribution. I think they’ll still continue to run Control4 as a “sister company”, but I’m not basing that off of anything other than what seems to make sense in my head. I haven’t done any real reading on it.

Is it coming? I personally don't see a use for Geofencing. I have way too many people coming and going from my house all the time for geofencing to be at all useful.

Yeah - I pretty much just use Control4. I do have Google Voice integration with IFTTT, but it's rarely used. For music, we most often airplay from our mobile devices to the shairbridge driver...maybe you would consider that Apple Music a separate "Gateway Device"?

My Marantz receivers don’t have this issue.

Why would it be any different than Ring or something else?

What’s the current recommendation for Door Stations these days? Doorbird? Ring Elite? Control4 Doorstation? I need to make a decision on something in the next few weeks and would appreciate drawing on the collective knowledge here. Really just want to be able to answer the door from anywhere like I do with the Ring today, but would prefer something flush mounted.

No suggestions? If not, in a few hours I'm just going to pull it and toss it - I've got an extra to put in its place. Just wondering if anyone else had any other ideas before I did that.

Came home and the LED on the bottom of the dimmer in my sons room was light up (like it always is when the light is off). Top button didn’t turn it on. Completely non-responsive. Pulled the tab up top to reset it and dropping the tab back down doesn’t bring it back...not even the bottom LED is on now. I tried 13-4-13 and 15 taps up top...nothing. Tried turning the breaker off and on. Nothing. Did this guy just die? Any other ideas before I rip it out and toss it in the trash?
