  1. I guess it depends on many things including how quickly your amps turn on and how many zones you are airplaying to.

My kids use ShairBridge regularly and never complain.  I did a quick test on my system now (first time I’ve personally used ShairBridge in years) and it took me 3 seconds to hear sound (playing to 3 zones on a 12 year old amp).

Thanks.  C4 support tell me dealer that 17 should not be a problem, but I have the same concern.  I have had various glitches, but this time it is not solved by my normal approaches.  Kind of makes the remotes useless if you can’t grab and pause (or do other stuff) without waiting 5-20 seconds.  And the “time out” to loss of function is pretty fast— maybe 5 mins.

How long since this has been a real problem?  I haven’t used my Apple TVs for a few days but will make a point of using one this weekend and let you know if I see any issues.

  3. I’ve had this problem once or twice (in the four or five years since the Bridge driver was released) but it has always gone away by itself within a day or two).  Admittedly, I only have 4 or 5 Apple TVs at each of my residences.

Certain actions also cause this (eg Refresh Navigators) but I cannot think of anything that would / should cause this continuously. I wonder if the number of Apple TVs is creating an issue?

  4. Interesting!  I understand what you are saying and tried simultaneously pushing button 1 and button 2 on a six button keypad and I also got the (unexpected) double click of button 2.

I don’t think pushing two buttons together is recommended but it should not do this!  The only time I have used pushing 2 buttons at the same time is with one of the Domosapiens keypad drivers which is specifically designed to allow for pushing the up and down arrows simultaneously.

  5. Are there any camera drivers that allow you to set the preset names (that appear in the Control4 navigators) for a PTZ camera (so that one is not stuck with Preset 1, Preset 2 etc.).  Ideally, this should be available as variables for programming against; however, setting the, in driver properties or importing them from the camera itself would also work.

If there are any such drivers, does anyone know if there is one that works with Lilin IP cameras?

I think the issue would still remain right? When should the volume get reverted - I don't think there's a way to know when the announcement has actually finished playing.

What if there was an ability to specify a volume setting to the TTS engines we use. So if you wanted the announcement volumes higher/lower, it can be set in properties and the resulting wav/mp3 is simply a higher/lower volume?

This is exactly what I think would solve (work around) the underlying problem.

Honestly the real fix at this time is to ensure the announcement audio file is louder so change in volume is at least limited in most cases.

Hmmm… that is an interesting idea.  Not practical at this stage for those of us using text to speech drivers which don’t (currently) have a volume option.

@Shivam Paw - still love your text to speech driver.  Is there any way to add a volume setting in the driver (I.e. increase the volume of the recorded announcement) instead of using a higher volume in the announcement that is being played.  That would solve the problem highlighted above.

Next best thing to creating josh scenes to trigger josh announcements:

Absolutely love this driver and love not having to upload canned announcements.

One thing to note if you go down this path - Google has multiple voices to choose. The standard voices are free but you will eventually pay usage on the "studio" voices.

I hope that Josh adds a native feature to push announcements from c4 in the future.

I use this also… great driver.

  9. Control4 announcements have a similar problem when switching back to music.  The switch back happens too fast compared to the volume change (reduction in most cases) to revert to normal volume.  No amount of playing around with delays in the announcement agent ever fixed this for me.  I must say this sort of thing is one of the most irritating things about home automation as one expects it to simply work.  Glad Josh could fix your issue!

  10. That is strange!

I have a number of places where I sync multiple rooms in one go using the room control driver.

Are all 3 of your rooms going through the same matrix or do you have multiple matrixes.  I have had various issues on Os3.4.1 (and I understand from my dealer that he has other clients with similar problems) with linking zones across different matrices.  My problems have not been room control driver specific but it wouldn’t surprise me if I would experience the same problem with the room control driver.  Fortunately (for me), most of the zones that I tend to link are across a single matrix (despite having multiple matrices / amps at both my residences).

SAC4 -- you were right, the room control driver seems to be working.  I now have the synchronization of audio and video sources working between the two rooms.

I still have some work to do to get volume control and on/off control working the way I want it to, but I expect that will fall into place as well.

I set this up so long ago that I am rusty.  From memory, you can create multiple room control drivers (and each instance can control multiple rooms) and then link (bind) your volume control to one of them.  I also think that on/off linking is an option on the driver (assuming you have chosen multiple rooms).

Are the 'front' speakers' in the ceiling?
Turning off surround and running 2 channel doesn't accomplish what they need? (may need a power outlet to kill the sub too).

Also Dynabox are awesome to control ceiling speaker transfer.

    Beyond that, yeah, 2 rooms.

This is how I do it… linked to one experience button and changing the volume down at the same time.

  13. I’m pretty sure you can do this with the room control driver.

I used to use Media Scenes for connecting rooms (and still have this active in some areas of my main residence).  In the last few years, all of my programming of this nature has been done with the Room Control driver.  It is a free control4 driver that your dealer can install from the driver database and it is easy to use.
