  1. I am pointing out what you said was fair and that what it says in the document is not specific by including an image of the marketing material. Other documents on MOIP with other devices say you can enable audio return and assign the return path as HDMI and then you get a transmitter to assign. This assumed that the device downmixes the audio. But who knows if this device has the ability.
  2. Ok, I think I'm getting it. The C4 software isn't 100% when tracking state of Matrix and as such it may leave "ghost" connections in the Matrix. It may also think it has assigned a path but didn't check the device to validate it. We want this to work perfectly and it should work perfectly, but the reality and tribal knowledge of the implementation says this can't be trusted. So while what I proposed is logical it's going to by flaky in real life. Check. I can accept that if that's the way it works on 3.4. I can give up on Sonos as an audio source for other zones attached to the Matrix and just use it for output.
  3. Hmm. If you use the matrix to feed the Port you don't have to assign the matrix input (Ports output) that the port is also attached to to anything. If you use the Port as the streaming source you do not have to connect any matrix zones to the output zone attached to the Ports input. You can choose not to have both Ports input to the matrix and Ports output to the matrix assigned at any time. You have substantially more experience than I have so I will trust what you are saying. I'm just still struggling to understand where the problem lies. I have a C4 matrix and I have Videostorm matrix.
  4. Hmm. Not sure why doing like this is problem. Maybe I didn't explain it right. Let me take another approach. Core3>Matrix zone input 1>zone output 16>Sonos Port>Sonos Port>Matrix input 16 I think that gets me the ability to assign output from audio 1 on the Core3 to all wired output zones 1-15 via input 16 and any and all Sonos devices associated with the Port and playing the rca inputs. It also gets me anything I think I want to play on the Port and assign it to any of the 15 wired zones and any Sonos devices associated with the port. So, Matrix Input 1 to Matrix output 1-16 gets me audio from the Core3 to all zones and all Sonos because the Port can be configured to take the input rather than streaming something. Matrix input 16 to matrix output 1-15 gets me Sonos Port streaming source for all zones including any Sonos devices associated with the Port. I'm not sure why connecting inputs and outputs from the Port would be a physical problem. Would that really create a loop on a matrix?
  5. I'm completely unaware of any of this misconception or perspective about HE. Anyone DIY'ing from Ebay is simply jailbreaking and using Pro and not HE. There exists no attitude about HE in this way on this forum and it's been around a good long time. This is classic FUD to say there is some problem. I think we have some confused new users. The majority of C4 owers do not want to mess with HE and a majority of owners probably don't even know it exists. The owners that want to use HE are a small group and can actually be rightfully classified at DIY... because that's what they are doing, literally. Depending on dealer they either don't want you messing up the system because they don't want a bunch of support problems or they want you to pay them to properly tweak the system. I'd wager the active licensed users of HE are less than 1% of C4 owners. Licensed owners is probably somewhere below 10% if I had to guess.
  6. Looks good if you need it though. 400 watts. Digital inputs.
  7. This is an absurd level of over thinking and paranoia for something that has been identified as a defect with a fix in testing and an acknowledgement from C4 product management. Are you two the same person or related?
  8. They have this coming soon: https://www.snapav.com/shop/en/snapav/triad-sa1-ryff-enabled-200w-x-2-streaming-amplifier-ts-sa1-200-a
  9. Sure you are. We are also allowed to comment on it, right? I'm surprised you are a software developer, but if you are you would probably be aware of the ways you can use Composer Pro with your system rather than be blocked from using HE. So you can keep venting or google your solution.
  10. Lets not get all Karen on this situation. This kind of thing happens. Your dealer updated to something without letting it bake. Not a great deal of people are using HE, honestly. Small issues are rather common in all systems with incremental updates. This forum is mostly integrators and it's not a Control4 owned forum. You might not get a tremendous amount of sympathy since most people here are going to point to your dealer as the one making the mistake. Your dealer is going to be making the updates until there is an auto update feature. So, lets point out the issue with auto updates. If the rest of us were auto updated the issue you are experiencing would be a bigger problem. As it stands only handfuls of people are impacted. Its nearly impossible to avoid issues in patching systems especially when you 1) have a small development team 2) have a priority on feature development 3) have multiple hardware revs etc. I'm not making any excuses, but I work on software and this kind of thing just happens. It's why enterprise software and systems are NOT auto updated and usually run some revs behind for stability. I had a system deployed recently. I noted to the dealer to not install 3.4.1, but they are a skilled dealer so they were already aware of the issue. BTW: You can check the release notes on the updates to see if there are security related items included.
  11. If your dealer was paying attention to your needs for HE they maybe wouldn't have installed 3.4.1. Doesn't seem smart to install bleeding edge for a new customer.
  12. Thanks. I am using a matrix so I'm wondering if an output from the matrix to the input of the Sonos Port and output from the port back into the matrix gets me the choice of C4 audio to all zones including any Sonos endpoints AND Sonos controlled streams to all zones and Sonos inputs. I'm also wondering about running both a wired zone and a sonos in some rooms to use the sonos for announcements so I can gracefully duck the music.
  13. My kid wants audio in per bathroom and my wife wants audio in the master closet where we don't have a ceiling speaker and running a drop is a huge effort. So I'm considering my options for speaks and thought why not a Sonos One or similar. I have plenty of Matrix output opportunities. Is it as simply as connecting a Sonos Port to the Matrix output on a zone and now the Sonos One in the closet is in sync with the rest of the house? What's the current Sonos driver state? I've seen a few posts on issues with Sonos and a couple references to 3rd party drivers coming soon. I'm also looking at this Sonos option as perhaps an approach to ducking room audio announcements by using the Sonos speaker for announcements. I can hide one above the kitchen cabinets for instance... Side advantage of some Sonos is potential future easy Josh.ai ready infrastructure.
  14. I think an IQ Pro would be a nice upgrade in the future. Handles all of your hardwire needs and integrates with C4. Some wireless sensors are nice. Exterior beam sensors. Motion. A random heat sensor for the kitchen or garage...
  15. Aren't you supposed to be on vacation? Thanks. That looks better than I imagined. I was thinking just a cable, but it's the whole thing. Cheap at 30 bucks. I'll look for z-wave antenna. Do the Aeotec range extenders work with C4?
  16. We've deployed a Core3 and I'm wondering about the Zigbee and Z-wave antennas directly under the solid top shelf of the top of the rack. The antenna are not pointed up at a 90. Anyone have thoughts on using an extension to put the antenna on top of the rack? Worth it or ignore it?

Maybe this driver can help. https://drivercentral.io/platforms/control4-drivers/dimmer-to-10-relays/
  19. Thanks. That's closer. This is probably an enhancement request for an audio matrix manufacturer. The ability to mix inputs to outputs and apply ducking. Basic scenarios are simply like the whole house is playing and fade down the audio and play an announcement. More complicated is N number of sources playing on some but not all zones and you want to play an announcement at the same time across all zones instead of popcorning it. Even more complicated is ducking N number of sources with zone specific announcements all at the same time. Or ducking some but not all of the zones on the same source. I've found a couple of hardware duckers that can be upstream from the matrix or looped back into the matrix. You would need one for each source. Something like a Rolls DU30b. About $100. No idea how well it works or how much it stomps on the source.
  20. Thank you. I have two of these and they both have the ethernet module. We'll take a look. I couldn't find any documents on the VS website.
  21. Thanks for taking a look. Do you have a reference on how that works? Does it assume netplay is managing the sources like Pandora rather than the controller?
  22. Looking for hardware options turns up a few things, but nothing ideal. Seems like a the main solutions are not stereo and then its maybe only useful on one source. I have to agree this would be a nice feature to add to the controller. Better in a matrix so you can mix an input to one or more zones.
