  1. Based on the cut sheet it has prox.
  2. They throw the touch screen and proximity sensor in for free.
  3. You should at least let one of these guys sell you a micro or Josh One and try it out. Micro if you want farfield and a One if you just want to try the app. You can always buy more micros or get nanos and a core.
  4. From your questions you don't sound like an attorney. If I were to give you some advice I would say its worth investing in Josh now vs potentially later if you want it. These things drag on for years. In a few years there will be new options. Enjoy it. For all we know Snap might abandon C4 is 3 years. Lots of things could happen. I only ever think I get 3-4 years out of a piece of technology before I want to upgrade. I'm not totally sold on the value for the screen. I'd be thrilled if they offered the tablet apk for a license fee.
  5. Do you have an integration with Josh.ai or is this back and forth more or less just for fun? Typically, in a lawsuit they throw everything they have at the wall just in case something sticks.
  6. Do you have a Josh.ai integration? Again, generally, interoperability is protected. This is why Snap went out of their way to even bother making a statement that they continue to support the integration. The suit is regarding the AVA remote. Doubt Snap has any specific patent on a tablet on the wall. Snap has the most at risk, honestly. They have their reputation to lose. This is a perception game and they might not realize they are playing the game.
  7. This is hyperbole and an argument without direction.
  8. Only for customers integrating C4. The statement from Control4 todate is that their lawsuit is not impacting the integration. Generally speaking interoperability is fairly protected.
  9. This screen works with Josh and doesn't need Control4. Pretty certain they are not pitching this as a screen for Control4. They have Josh One. What I hope for is that Josh allows customers to use the Josh client running on their Screen hardware with other hardware. I'm hoping its an APK, but I feel like they may not make that possible. I'd like to run my own hardware and I'd like to have their screen layout on a mobile tablet.
  10. Agreed. I'm a software engineer and know that Josh *could* run their AI on site if they wanted with basic hardware and a cheap GPU.The technology is there today and we even have HA users running it using total open source. Only a matter of time until we can have such things. The book "The Age of Surveillance Capitalism" is an interesting read.
  11. For contrast you have Amazon releasing their Echo Hub for $180 that does POE wall mount and home automation. I think this is very helpful as it will help create a market for home automation in general and thus help to create upper tiers of users over time. https://www.amazon.com/Echo-Hub/dp/B0BCR7M9KX/
  12. Yes, cool. I like what Unifi has done with their recent Protect update.
  13. Do you mean the actual networking or do you mean issues with the voice stream to the cloud/edge? Wifi vs ethernet?
  14. I imagine they don't make their hardware and using a partner is very time consuming and takes a good long runway. I'm sure this is off the shelf hardware with perhaps some form factor changes. A farfield mic array would be custom and takes more time. I'm guessing it's a simple choice of having something to sell or not in the target year. Not having a frame makes it that much more difficult to embed the mics. At least they didn't make it look like this:
  15. Sure, but think of new installs. You can sell more screens if they are also mic's. If you have the switch like the nano and you have the distance between the mics at all 4 corners it would be an amazing farfield mic. Think of the context aware UI that could be possible. Josh.ai recognizing speaker. Uses roles based context. Facial recognition. Hey, Josh, what can I do in this room? Hey Josh turn off all security, unlock all doors then turn off the power to the rack... "I'm sorry, Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that"
  16. I'm likely jumping on the Josh.ai train and integrating. I get the conflict and some of it is inside baseball. The remotes are not their hardware and simply run their apps. I realize that is splitting hairs, but it's just an android stick. I don't think C4 should have sued before trying to come up with a solution that was mutually beneficial. C4 could build a Josh.ai voice system if they wanted, but given their finances and staffing I'm not sure it's recommended. I love competition and hope we see some, but lawsuits seem excessive. Sue AVA and not Josh.ai. Somehow I'm doubting there was any agreement on what form factor the Josh.ai app was limited to run on when integrating into C4. Maybe I'm wrong. I'd like to hold one of the AVA cin remotes. I feel the new clicky glass wheel is too low on the device to balance well based on seeing it, but not touching it. The software UI changes didn't wow all that much. The integrations with things like Shelly has potential, but I feel like this is preparing them for the market between Home Assistant and C4. I think the new screen missed by not having a 4 mic farfield always on mic. If you have proximity and nano like mic at the screen location you can have context aware screens that change on you before you even touch. Looks nice. Hope it can be wifi and line powered vs POE.
  17. Googled that for you https://www.intrinsicdev.com/downloads/official-myq-driver-for-control4/
  18. There is also this type of driver or a webview experience button if you want to put more data together. https://drivercentral.io/platforms/control4-drivers/utility/custom-info-display/
  19. I guess this line from the original post caused a logic problem with using C4 or wifi and just how you were going to make anything work. We assume that someone wants to remotely monitor their stuff in this kind of situation, but you are saying or giving the impression that they system is being powered down. Hard to know what that customer wants to do with a voltage display they maybe can't see. If it were me I'd use local low voltage cutoff hardware. I would not rely on automation from C4. I would use C4 for monitoring only. I like Victron gear, but there are a lot of choices out there. Using C4 to shut off an inverter can end badly depending on what sort of battery bank they are using. Can you say what gear they are using for the solar? There are a few drivers out there...
  20. The internet is full of answers and I'm less interested in entertaining %$#
  21. If they are very old tasmota may support them. But honestly it's maybe not worth the time.
  22. Do you want automated lighting or would you prefer regular switches? How many switches are Control4 switches and if they are not control4 switches do you know what they are? Can you take a picture of your equipment rack where the system that controls the sound and lighting is located?
