flikfoto
Just received a new EA5 to replace a HC-800 that failed after 5 months. I can no longer SET any triggers for my Echo Driver. I can type in the Add Trigger Name field and click on the SET button but the Trigger never shows up in the Delete Trigger pull down. Any suggestions? lippavisual
If you swapped to a new controller, the echo driver has a license tied to the HC800. You need to swap the license over to the new ea5.
AP-123
Just ordered Echo - looking forward to the possibilities. Can't think of a reason I should have ordered dot instead but if anyone has any input please advise. Thanks, ap
jfh
If you are using it primarily for voice control, the Dot is just fine. The primary difference is the speaker (or lack of).
AP-123
It's my first device with Alexa so feedback will be good. Having it play though the house better, but don't see that as a possibility. I would however like to see where else Dot can be useful. Thanks.
jfh
Just to be clear - the Dot has a speaker, it's just not the quality of that in the Echo. The Echo speaker is suitable for playing music, the Dot not really.
AP-123
I don't think I will ever listen to anything other than a response. So maybe canceling and going Dot is the way to go? Any other limitations? Microphone as good? Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

jfh
The other thing I like about the Dot is that it's less conspicuous.
Anzir
But you need to have an Echo first before you can order a dot, right?

Anzir
No. You can use either or both. On Amazon it says you have to order the Dot using voice commands on an Echo or Fire TV. So you have to purchase either an Echo or Fire TV first.
msgreenf
For anyone looking for an Echo, they are on sale for $135 on Woot today http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/06/30/alexa-buy-cheap-echo-refurbished-amazon-echo-woot-135-5-shipping/
ryanm
I had my dealer install my driver and it says active. I have my echo on a static IP and have it entered correctly. However, when after I tell alexa to discover devices, I then click "send discover" but alexa only discovers my two ecobees (which I've had added previously). Any solutions? StroTek LLC
you have to add "triggers" in composer for the echo.. then when you discover devices.. alexa will see those triggers as Hue devices
ryanm
I created one called "LivingRoom" and it shows up under delete trigger Is composer supposed to doing anything visbily when I hit send discovery?

drro
@jfh I don't think you ever got an answer to your question, which @Anzir misunderstood. There are workarounds to order online (http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-order-an-amazon-echo-dot-without-an-amazon-echo/). Also, you could probably use the Lexi app on iOS to order a Dot. Both the Echo and the Dot are great, and I think you'll be very happ with either.
