Sugar
Is there a list of security cameras compatible with C4?Does 2.8 require updated drivers to take advantage of all new features? So far I could find:LilinChannel VisionAxisPlanetPanasonic can anyone post a list of drivers?
StroTek LLC
I use Blue Iris NVR for all my cameras.. I have yet to find a IP camera that doesnt work with it.. There is a good driver for blue iris into control4.. and it works seamlessly
Sugar
But Blue Iris requires a dedicated PC, doesn't it?I'm looking for a set-top-box-style NVR that would output directly to an HDMI screen.C4 integration would be in addition to that. Cyknight
HIKVision works well too. Lilin and HIKVision have the adcantage of having pretty decent NVRs as well that (obviously) work well with their own cameras. Personally, I'd be going with HIK at this time. They're hard to beat in their choice and range of cameras.
Tokead
Is there a specific HIK model you'd recommend for outside. POE wide angle good low light? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cyknight
If you want only low light instead or IR with HIK you'll have to look at there box cams.Frankly though, I go with IR, it's generally still clearer to see faces etc in the dark I like their turret personally, 0.01 Lux before it goes to IR.How wide angle do you need? They have full fisheye too...like I said, they have a LOT of options, and all the ones I've used to date work well beyond expectation. Sugar
Are only selected models supported, or everything from HIK?
Cyknight
It's a generic HIKVision driver - not everything in the driver will be supported by every camera - including but not limited to SDDP (yes that would mean that HIKVision is an SDDP partner). I would expect all current models will work with it, there is no specific list of those that will or will not work. I can tell you that some camera's MADE by HIKVision under OEM work with it though
Cyknight
Some small notes:-The driver has the ability to setup the camera for you, so no need to figure out what settings to enable for C4 to get it's streams correctly, you can even set it to sych time with C4.-The driver has available contact closures for all detection types HIKVision has - it will of course depend on what the camera can do, indeed the driver will get FROM the camera which detection features are required. Yes that will often mean you can use their motion detection for programming.
Wolfaslov
over 2 year old thread I know but is there any update to different manufacturers that have SDDP or any integration with C4? Cyknight
Why in the world would you hope for FLIR/Lorex? msgreenf
Wolfaslov
Had a line on a good deal from a friend...that is all. I'm open to buying other brands...seems HikVision seems popular still.....
Cyknight
I'm sure there's others but: Readily available (free) cam drivers for: -HIKVision -Lillin -Luma Almost any camera if you set up a Blue Iris system Also free but by 3rd party: -Digital Watchdog (Spectrum line) by Homeation Paid by 3rd party: Homeation/The Drivers Lab: -FLIR (yes there are some, not sure on all the details, no clue on compatibility with their many sub brands) Black Wire Desgins: -AMcrest -ReoLink -ToughDog -W-Box DriverCentral: -Dahua -Vivotek -Starcam -Zuum HIKVision is popular because they have a ton of choices, aren't poorly priced and readily available. Lilin is a bit more expensive but a great product. Luma is so-so. Not bad but cheaper for a reason. For all three these brands most if not all (somewhat) current models are supported and drivers work well, with the possible exception of the HIKVision NVR control driver (thoguh not the cams) from C4 which has been problematic. Dahua is well known and are good cams but not always easy to obtain. Think most cams are supported but not too familiar. Blue Iris is nice because you can get almost any camera to work, but requires a specially setup computer to operate and I would advise you to make sure you can handle the software yourself. Watchdog is popular among many (sub) contractors, especially security companies (margin). Can't comment on the driver, and it's been years since I dealt with them (and hated them then) Other brands....are cheaper option - but are focused on DIY and often cheaper for a reason.. Take care with these brands in your camera selection too - not all cams are supported, I certainly wouldn't ASSUME they are. and would check the model numbers. Can't really comment on the drivers as such. EASIEST are probably Lilin and Luma as both are tight Control4 partners (Luma is SnapAV) and both NVR and camera drivers are simple to set up, as is the equipment. Like I said the HIKVision cam driver has been flawless for us, but the NVR not so much (to the point that we usually jsut use an IR driver if there is a desire for control at all - I generally recommend using a computer to log into an NVR to begin with). Cyknight
Oh and FLIR...I've just never seen operate 'right'. Not within C4, but it's been hit and miss overall. This dating back to when they were still Digimerge...always one camera not working if not more, a DVR or NVR with bad HDD or the software was glitchy.... We've dealt with some (because it was an existing install) but....
lippavisual
Flirs reliability isn’t great. Have a customer with 4 16-channel NVRs and a bunch of cameras. 1 NVR has already died, won’t power up at all even with new power Supply. 10 of the cameras just stopped working.
