bigzaj
I'm looking for new fans ... most fans I am interested in these days are DC fans with their own proprietary wireless remotes. Is there any integration option or integration friendly DC fans out there (besides Haiku big*ss fans which are crazy expensive). Thanks! Amr
Most fans are RF 433MHz based which can be automated using Matterlink multiX, check https://www.matterlink.sg/ this is what i did!
LollerAgent
Check out Modern Fan Company. They have nice looking AC fans that will work with the C4/Lutron fan controllers. When you order them, just get the most basic fan controller.
lippavisual
Fanimation has some with AC motors as well. Thats what all mine are.

twmoonly
Does anyone know the frequency for Fanimation Slinger V2?
ILoveC4
So - I'm building right now, and didn't consider all of the nuances around fans. I've got a number of fans, and all of them have AC motors, except for 1. It has a DC motor. I have all the specs on motor size, RPM, Watts, AMPS, etc... I was just planning on using fan speed controllers for all of these. Are you saying that for this DC motor, the Fan Speed Controller won't work? This is a fan from Minka Group. lippavisual
DC motors will not work with C4 Fan controllers. Your option for the DC fan would be utilizing the included RF remote unit and a Matterlink device to control speeds. Then you could use a configurable keypad to control the speeds. How did you figure out whether or not your fan would work with that? Here's a link to the specs on the fan in question: https://www.minkagroup.net/images/product_specs/F896-84-BNW.pdf
lippavisual
Look under the specs of the fan control, not the fan itself.
ILoveC4
Yeah, the control is "RC400". I can't find out much about that.
ILoveC4
This is as much detail I can find on the fan control: https://www.minkagroup.net/rc400.html
lippavisual
Hmm, that's a pathetic spec sheet. Very surprised they don't even mention frequency.
ILoveC4
Yeah...I may reach out to Matterlink and see if I can get a response from them.
lippavisual
If its like most fan controllers, it will work with matterlink. Looks similar to others that I've used.

My fan was not listed but it has a similar control to one of the supported models, I toke the risk and bought MultiX, programmed it with my Fan and worked without issues since then! Matt Lowe
@alanchow has a driver for bigass fans if they have something you want.

Driver is pretty much complete but waiting for some firmware upgrades from Bond. They estimated 2-4 weeks for completion from their side. https://bondhome.io/ Bond provides IR/RF integration of devices like Fans (with lights), Fireplaces, Blinds (including Somfy blinds!). I’ll check them out, thanks Alan. The fan has already been purchased and will be installed soon, so I’m pretty much set on this one. I’ll put it on a C4 switch for now, and figure out fan speed later.

Amr
As you can see they have almost identical controls, I believe the names on the remotes belongs to the Fan/Lamp manufacturers not the device that control it, all have the same and or was easy to program the MultiX to capture the codes for both fans!
