zaphod
MS is unveiling Win11 right now and one of the announcements is that Win11 will natively run android apps. That gives us a way to have a C4 Navigator in Windows. Quote Microsoft is bringing Android apps to Windows 11. The software giant revealed its surprise Windows 11 addition during its special Windows event today. Android apps will run natively on Windows 11 and will be downloadable from the new Windows store that’s included in the operating system. Microsoft says it’s using Amazon’s app store to bring Android apps to Windows 11. Apps will be available directly from the new Windows store, and powered by Intel Bridge technology. Android apps on Windows 11 can be pinned to the taskbar, or snapped alongside traditional Windows apps. Android apps on Windows 11 are an obvious answer to Apple’s progress with its M1 chips and running iOS apps on macOS. While there are many web equivalents to mobile apps, they’re often lackluster and certain apps like Snapchat, Ring, Venmo, Roomba, and the majority of home automation apps aren’t available on the web. videostorm

Neo1738
Bluestacks been doing this already. But yes should work.
zaphod
Yes, Bluestacks does allow you to do this, but Bluestacks in full of adware for games and is 99.9% focused on games and pushing you to install games. Being able to run the Android apps natively without needing anything would be useful. In the Bluestacks world it seems that all "apps" are know as "games" - like this: sitdownman and THawes
RyanE
It's an interesting announcement. Although I'm not a Microsoft fanboy (nearly everything is Linux here at home), they have been making some very interesting (and good) decisions lately (since Windows 7). zaphod
The announcement didn't talk much, if at all, about WSL, but WSL is becoming more useful every year. Presumably WSL is being used for running Android apps.

I'm not tempted to play/load games etc as I only use it for C4. Yes the splash screen when it loads is very game centric but you're an adult just resist the urge lol. zaphod
I do resist the urge, I have no interest in any of those games. I just find the UI extremely juvenile and it is ridiculous to assume that 100% of the people looking for an Android emulator on a PC only want to play games. Neo1738
I guess I'm just happy to have an option lol
videostorm
Saves us the effort of porting NetPlayTV and SplashTiles to windows (not that we planned to, but still AWESOME )
wnpublic
Preparing to be flamed/told I'm clueless - but it's too bad there's not just a web interface accessible from any modern browser.

SplashTiles & NetPlay Cloud driver can give a full list navigator interface (like on your remote) via a browser. Not exactly the C4 app, but it is useful for most control scenarios. This is absolutely the way that they should be going. This is the way things work with the Unifi Controller and I don't see any reason why C4 couldn't be the same. And not just for a Navigator, also for Composer HE. wnpublic
