There is a product on HouseLogix where a dealer can enter in a Kodi lite licence to convert it to a Kodi full licence for the difference in pricing. All automated.

Yep.  We are  running our driver on some VideoStorm VRX's at the Control4 stand at Integrate this week. which utilise Raspberry Pi 2's.  Runs surprisingly really fast.

Cover art is handled by the web server port. Please ensure that the we server is enabled and that the port specified in Kodi is the same port number defined in the drivers properties.
If you are still having trouble then please submit a ticket on the HouseLogix website.

Yes we will have two drivers (currently on the lite version has been released.  To sum it up Kodi Full is more appropriate for people who want to utilise their Control4 touchscreen, mobile app, etc to browse and search content on Kodi.  Kodi Lite will do limited content (movies only) but for everything else you will need to utilise the Kodi's own onscreen interface. Of course there are a ton of other features which are mentioned on the first post of this thread.

Port 9090 (JSON-RPC port) is where 99% of the communication comes from. This is done by setting allow other programs to control KODI up. It is highly likely that you have not set this bit up.

It is highly likely that you have not set 'Allow other systems to control kodi' setup.  Its actually quite common for people to miss this step in the instructions for some reason.  I might have to make it a bit clearer.  Its not sure what an alienware alpha is but if it is android based you will need to quit the app and start the app again for the settings to apply.

    Hi guys,

Control4 just released a new driver they developed today.  Pretty cool.  Works great.

DLNA Music – An alternative digital music experience

Control4 is pleased to announce the availability of the DLNA Music driver. This is an alternative to the standard My Music digital music driver for use where the customer’s local music collection is stored on a NAS drive. Most NAS drives ship with a DLNA music server which is compatible with this driver.

The advantages of the DLNA Music driver in these situations are:
No Music Scanning Required – The driver uses the information already scanned by the DLNA server.
New Music Appears Quickly – The DLNA server can constantly monitor for new music.
Searching - Music collections can be searched by Artist, Album, Genre etc.
‘His and Hers’ music collections – it is possible to set up different libraries for different members of the family. Justin Beiber shall never intermingle with your Prog Rock collection again.
Tailor the navigation – many DLNA servers allow you to tailor how the information is presented to the user. Some are particularly good for Classical or Jazz collections.

It is important to remember that this driver does not scan the music collection or lookup metadata. If customers that have already copied their CDs or purchased music from online stores this is not necessary. It also means that the driver does not edit or change the customer’s metadata. If a customer uses iTunes or other programs that lookup metadata as they copy CDs this driver can be used successfully.

    Supported NAS drives and Servers
The driver has been tested using the following popular NAS drive and DLNA server solutions.

    QNAP
Use either Twonky which is shipped with the NAS, or install Asset (Free or Paid versions). The QNAP native DLNA server is not supported.

    Netgear Ready NAS
Use the built in ReadyDLNA server. You can also purchase Twonky for some models.

    WD Live
Use the built in Twonky DLNA server.

    Synology
The built in DLNA server will work but does not support searching.
For other NAS drive manufacturers look to see if they include or support either Asset or Twonky.

    iTunes
The driver is ideal for customers that have their local music collection on iTunes. By moving the iTunes library to a NAS drive it is possible for the customer to enjoy their iTunes music collection via their Control4 system without needing to keep a computer permanently running.

    Classical and Jazz Collections
If you have customers with classical and jazz music collections then they often want to be able to search or browse their collection by Composer, Orchestra, Conductor or Soloist. The Asset DLNA music server available for the QNAP NAS offers these abilities. It relies on the customer’s music collection being accurately tagged. dbpoweramp also provide CD Ripper which is particularly good at accurately copying and indexing classical music collections.

    Available Now
The driver is available now in Composer via the online database. You can find it under Media Service, Manufacturer Control4.

Extra Vegetables actually has an example in their documentation on how to utilise our Advanced Announcements in their documentation so yes you can use it with Sonos.

You do not need audio outputs going into sonos from Control4 as Sonos will read the wav file directly.

    Definately possible for every zone.

    UPDATE:

Added Play Online File command.  This helps get around the 10mb Control4 announcement agent restriction by downloading files only on demand only and also allow integrators to implement online or local text to speech services not included in this driver.

    Hi guys,

Have uploaded a new version of the driver with the following changes.

Version #20150305 - 05-MAR-2015Resolved issue on some systems where automatic on sends on command again every time a new file plays.  Version #20150303 - 03-MAR-2015Number 1 now jumps to first page in navigation mode Number 0 now jumps to last page in navigation mode  Version #20150220 - 20-FEB-2015Modified Auto Room On code.  Now selects device as audio or video only depending on audio, video or photo.  Note there are times when Kodi's API returns an unknown media type.  In this case it will turn it on as a video source.  Version #20150218 - 18-FEB-2015Added Random All, One and Off commands to programming tab Added Play URL programming command for playback of videos and photos  Version #20150113 - 13-JAN-2015Added customisable PREV & CANCEL buttons as some customers were not happy with the mapping.

The current KODI windows release has a few issues that they are addressing (see their website for details). It should be resolved when they release KODI 14.2 shortly.
Alternatively if you want our driver can programmatically reboot your machine. Mine is setup to shutdown the machine on security arm and boot on security disarm and as such save the idle power during my time away from home.

Our kodi driver can help automate reboots if you want it to do so. For example my house automatically shuts down my main kodi HTPC when I arm my house. It will automatically turn it back on again when I disarm my house.
It also does it at scheduled times of 3am shutdown and 8am startup.
I do this to save a bit of energy for the times I know that my family will never be using the system.
Alternatively if you have a fast boot system then control4 can automatically turn it on and off every time you use it. Personally I don't want to wait 30 seconds to a minute to use the system so not for me.

My whole house is running off a HC250 and works surprisingly well considering the amount of stuff i have warrants a HC800 (security, lighting, multiple av zones, etc).

Browsing via genre/name/whatever is independant of the driver.  Once its imported into the database its upto whichever device you are using to display it.  So if you are using a HC250 then it'll be lightning quick, a touchscreen/ipad/android device lightning quick or if you are using a slave HC200/300 then it will be dog slow.

There are various Control4 dealers who do work remotely on the forum.  See the link below for details.

    Hey there.  Answers below

Due to limited resources we have chosen not to make youtube videos of our products.  We would rather spend those resources developing more cool drivers and applications to enhance the Control4 home automation platform. I have been developing Control4 XBMC/Kodi drivers since 2006.  This is my 6th iteration of the driver over the years (and across multiple companies i've worked for) and as such its stupidly quick (try for yourself using our free 48 hour trial).  You may have had performance issues using older controllers as well.  The current generation of Control4 controllers capable of running OS 2.6 will run it just fine.  700 movies will import in about 30 minutes on a HC250.  On a HC1000 we imported about 1000 movies in 15 minutes.  Note that the driver does not import TV series as Control4's media management does not have the capability of showing TV series. During our beta testing two of our beta testers were using SPMC.  Worked fine with them. In the past two weeks of release this driver has quickly soared to become our top selling driver dwarfing sales of every other driver in the period.  Many CI manufacturers have chose to utilise our driver to distribute with their custom XBMC/Kodi boxes for use with Control4.

Use the built in trial licence to see if you like our driver.  If you like it after you try it out buy a licence for it.  So far we've been getting extremely positive feedback from everyone.  Quite a few have been saying that its the best media player integration in Control4 to date.
