that's the nice part about the platforms.  Different use cases for different households.  We had 4 T3's in the house from approx 2017 - early 2020 and maybe used them 1-2 per week.  When we switched to using Josh in place of the T3's we use them 40-50 times per day for anything from morning routines (that vary on time of day so not scheduled in) to discrete commands when my hands are full.  My wife uses it a lot to open close shades, turn on music and the such for her in-home daycare without having to find a remote or get to a wall with a touchscreen.  For us, Josh is a discretionary spend but also has allowed us to get more value out of not only the Control4 devices we already had (i.e. lights, A/V, etc.) but saved on programming like Lutron shades where they just worked from the jump without having the integrator program them in.  For the most part we use it as a 'layered' device in the same approach that Crestron has chosen to use it with their integration options with and making their OS Home app available on  the AVA remote.
Having used the system at this volume for 4 years provides enough of a sample size for our use case to recommend it to those that have a similar interest.  If not sold on it and haven't used it before, that's all good too.  And as far as price it fits our budget as we prioritize items like this discretionary spend over other items (cars, clothing, etc.) that others may value as good use of discretionary.  We were considering Alexa and Google originally and I went to the Origin Acoustics HQ here in Vegas to play around with it in 2018.  It was super clunky at the time and slow so it was a non-starter at the time.  Voice is viewed as a complimentary element on our end and today the Josh platform provides a much enhanced home user experience for us for the reasons stated above and the very easy custom scene creation, editing and the like in the portal.  That part alone has saved us thousands of dollars in creating custom scenes, triggers, etc and far superior to the When>Then C4 functionality.  So I see these, in present state, as complimentary products if you have this or a related use case that fits your lifestyle.  For us it's been fantastic as a paying customer for nearly 4 years of use.
If we were to move/build a new home, it would be a strong potential to go to just Josh given the ease of use, deployment, hardware costs, and amount of daily use we get from the system.  The reliability has also been quite good on the items we've compared on a case by case function such as using it to raise/lower shades versus the raise and lower on a C4 keypad, the 2N/DS Mini notifications, door locking and relays, etc.  I am not sure it's quite there for a large installation (not an integrator so this is conjecture), but from what I have used and seen at other smaller installations (i.e. condos, townhomes) it works very well and reliably in my friends' and colleagues' properties as a standalone.

Yep, just like we hope Lutron continues to work with Control4. It could be said for any integration really. It would be in everyone's best interest to not break the integration partners and I believe the powers that be feel that way also

Josh can totally be a standalone automation system with direct integration with many partners. But this is a control4 forum.

Agree, just won’t see any movement until the suit is resolved.  We hear that current integration is and will be supported …and short of the Halo voice feature, it’s still crazy powerful.  I don’t think most understand what we mean when we say there’s a synergy that makes each better than on their own.  Anything you can program in Control4, you can create a voice scene to fire.  And Josh’s room/area awareness is a huge game changer.  Trigger:  Who is in the backyard?  Response:  Camera pops in local, some or all navigators.  So much you can do.

ditto!  My current 5 year license is coming due soon so happy about that the change in pricing forthcoming
If any dealers get word of when the Josh to Halo integration might be coming that'd be greatly appreciated to know!!!

Josh works great here in my home. I have several Nano's and its integrated with Control4. He does everything I tell him to do.
And now with the new licensing, its much less expensive getting started

Have used Josh.ai Micros since 2020 and they still work fantastic to this day and used way more than the T3 in-walls that they replaced.  At present they are a very nice compliment to the Control4 system I've had since 2011 along with the upgrades in gear.  We have the HALO touch remotes in all rooms with a TV but use the Josh commands via the hardware or the app for everything other than controlling the TV.  It is disappointing that the voice control integration promised at 2022 CEDIA between Josh and Control4 has not happened.  When I went to this year's CEDIA I went by both the Josh and the SnapOne booths and asked about the timeline.  What I got from the representatives was it was the other company's responsibility to develop that integration (the equivalent of pointing fingers).  Meanwhile Crestron, ELAN, and Lutron have their voice commands integrated to the AVA remote.  It's not a dealbreaker but it would be nice to have this integration promised (videos from CEDIA 202) that promised it which is a bit of a farce considering they stated and showcased something coming to market that never materialized.  In going thru the demonstration at the Josh booth at CEDIA this year they were strongly emphasizing and showcasing their system as a full automation platform with the integrations to leading manufacturers which was nice to see.  Not going to rip out my C4 gear here since it's quite extensive but would be curious to see how a stack of their Core's together would function in operating a future home as most of my controlled devices also already work with Josh natively.
Also disappointing to see the Touch or the Non-Touch missing key control functionality after this amount of time on the market (i.e. Shades, Alarm, cameras, etc).  That's pathetic

I have to respectfully disagree.  The voice is used in our home to run scenes 25-30 times per day.  Before we seldomly used the equivalent on the touchscreens.  And we didn't tie them into keypads because that created a lack of change/flexibility without using Composer HE or our dealer.  It is used here for scenes, shades, locking doors, playing specific playlists, fans, pool controls, Kaleidescape movies and the like.  For dinner, it comes in clutch to prep the space while in the middle of cooking and making adjustments.
May be the outlier but it is used (Josh in conjunction with C4) nearly 200-300 times per month in doing one-time tasks, scenes, and other actions.  In addition, as an end user the ability to set, modify, update scenes have a much better experience than the When>Then alternative.

I believe most 2n products will work with C4.  I use an old 2n Video Kit and it works just fine

+1 on AVPro edge, that's what I was going to recommend as well.  You will not have loss in video quality as long as you have the proper wiring in place (Cat6 or better preferably), and are within the distance specs.
PM me if interested, I'm a direct dealer with AVPro edge and can get you pricing if you'd like.  I also have access to their "B stock" units which can be had for a nice discount, and come with the same 10-year warranty as A stock.

agreed.  And with the new upgraded Terra servers they offer, quite a few of the pre-existing Terra's can be had a 'relatively' good price on the KScape Owners Forum.  It's not an impluse purchase in my case so took budgeting, saving and setting aside money as a priority but like you I've loved it and enjoy the convenience and quality of it.  Don't enjoy spending time tinkering; I like it that I set it up, added to system, and had it going and running in a matter of minutes.  And then the movie store and the disc to digital program was very price friendly along with the content sets.

It’s definitely a pill to swallow but I have not looked back since getting K either
It works well and the quality of the media sooo good. I’ve seen 1080p movies on K look good enough that an untrained eye might mistake it for 4K

Kaleidescape is aware of this and hopefully a Zappiti upgrade path with movie credits is in the works.
Kaleidescape was the only company to partner with the studios and create a legal system that complies with their demands.

People want convenience and imo any media storage/server except for Kaleidescape is a pain in the rear for the vast majority of people
Along with ease of use with Kaleidescape comes vastly superior audio(better picture as well) compared to what streaming offers so anyone that wants “easy” and owns a higher quality a/v or theater system will appreciate K
    Kaleidescape isn’t going anywhere

Honestly, I agree there still aren't any real-world applications for home users released yet for Wifi 7.

But, I wouldn't be surprised if we start to see technologies like better wireless MOIP baluns a few months after the standard is finalised (and can think of a few that used their own rf standard).  Wifi 7 has a worst case latency of only 10ms (best case 1ms, which is less than 1 frame), and 30gb performance. But, that will only mainly benefit specialized applications, or hardware designed for it (maybe also gaming if you're relying on wifi).
I'm still using Wifi 5 too (which is enough for me at the moment), but will upgrade to 7 when proper AP's get released

I have Ruckus Wifi 6 APs and they are blazing fast.  I would think only if you have a lot of band interference, Wifi 7 wouldnt give your use case a lot of benefit for the cost.

It's a bit early for proper brands like Ruckus to have Wifi7 still. The big advantage of Wifi 7 will realistically be guaranteed low latency (which may also open up new classes of devices), or possibly full-quality streaming of high res footage over wifi without quality loss (but for that kind of bandwidth, you'll need Fibre+SFP or 10gbps Link Aggregation). So, many installs will likely only benefit from the latency improvements for now (but really depends on the usecase. It won't help if your usecase is netflix)

If you're building and want WiFi 7, make sure you install conduit to your AP at a minimum, but you probably want fiber and ethernet running to your AP's to be able to use them at full capacity

no idea, never heard of it.  recommend Kaleidescape if you want a company that has been and will be around for awhile, and works well with Control4.

thanks for posting.  I'd just like to see a splash home screen similar to Savant, Josh and Crestron that give you a status of items when you open the mobile app, rather than having to dig to see what devices are in what state. This would be a baseline starting point rather than the focus on the notifications.

GregCAMS reacted to chopedogg88 in Why did Control4 stop making matrix amps?
I don't have any inside info as to their reasoning, but my guess would be that they just figured they already had that in the Episode DSP series of amps, so why create another overlapping product within the Snap brand family?
Separate matrix and Amp allows for more flexibility of install, because you can easily route audio outputs from the matrix to AVRs, various types of amps that are purpose fit for things like landscape speaker systems, hifi/2.1 zones, etc.

A status landing page would be welcomed.
that said AV is quick to find, you could set up a dummy room called "Home" and have your locks/sensors/alarms on that page for a quick visual but it would be a hodge podge attempt at best.
Not calling out those who "don't" want a dashboard, but there is a reason why dashboards are popular in the corporate world - cuts through the noise and you can see important things (to you) at a quick glance

The Home/House status page should be an out-of-the-box feature, shouldn't require extra programming to build on a case-by-case basis...just like you get with all of the other competitors...and there's a reason.  And that's half the reason that my Control4 clients who use Josh prefer the Josh app over Control4.
RyanE I love you man but you're just making excuses
That said, you do have the ability to easily see if there is any A/V stuff happening simply by seeing if the "3-line House" in the top right is active...so that's part of it.  Now just need some more of that same idea but for lights, shades, locks, etc.
