So...I am not sure if you win this bet or I do... I have refrained from buying one so far... but, I just heard today that someone is gifting me one for Christmas (don’t ask... it does probably mean that I spend too much money somewhere!) and I am now as excited as a kid in a candy store because it is going to be an early Christmas gift and I should have it in the next week or so 😁

    Sounds like YOU won.  Enjoy!

It's quite usable, and takes less time than you'd think to memorize the d-pad, ch+/-, vol+/-, menu, and back.

As far as transport controls and proxy buttons, you get the control screen as soon as you select the device, so they're immediately available.

The big difference between using the remote and your phone is that there's no wake-up or delay to use the remote, and no need to exit twitter before controlling.

For most things, I find the remote quite a bit quicker and much more convenient than using the phone.

This opinion, of course, is extremely biased, but I believe honest.

That's great, helpful feedback.  I would have appreciated hardware DVR and Guide buttons, but I'm excited for this product, even if it isn't perfect.  And, the great thing is I now have a choice between this and the original remotes.

  3. The latest ip driver works fine. It just needs to be paired to the Apple TV after this upgrade to tvos13. The procedure is different than in the past.

Actually, I have the latest IP driver, an EA controller and the latest AppleTV OS. While the Control4 pairing works, it disconnects every day or two, and I have to go through the pairing process again to get it working again. I’m very unpopular with my spouse right now.

  4. I went down this road when contemplating the 3.0 upgrade and the death of my existing touch screens. I couldn’t find an acceptable iPad mounting solution. Ultimately, I accepted advice to look for T3s for sale on this forum and on eBay. I’m happy I did. I found several T3s in the range of $500, and they work exceptionally well. The iPad alternative was made worse by 3.0’s elimination of “Dedicated Mode” for the iOS app. Even with workarounds, the app must reconnect every time you touch the screen. Intercom isn’t a big factor for me. TLDR: Buy T3s on the secondary market, you’ll be much happier.

  5. Yes, on the Sonos Connect.  That's the setup I have.  If you don't require multiroom music, I believe you can integrate other Sonos products, like a Sonos One or one off their Soundbars and achieve the same thing for a single room.  On "PLAY XX SONG" do you mean by voice, or through programming?  An example of programming I have is Single Tap Button 3 on Six Button Keypad > Plays "Sonos favorite" Daves Faves Playlist in Living Room.  If you have T3 touchscreens or Mobile Device apps, you can also pin a Sonos Favorite (Playlist, Radio Station, Podcast, etc.) to a room's homescreen.

Question for the group:  Since my upgrade to OS3, I am not able to access my system using Composer HE (v3.0.0)  on my work computer (i.e, over the internet).   My dealer looked into it, and said this "feature" was removed from v3, but may return later if Control4 receives feedback indicating customers miss the feature.  Is this true?  And, if so, what is the best means of letting Control4 know I miss the feature?

To follow-up on this, I had a great call with Control4 tech support, facilitated by the @control4 Twitter account.  The feature was not removed as my dealer had told me.  The problem was my work guest network was blocking the required VPN connection, generating the errors.  Once I connected using my cellphone as a hotspot, all worked as expected.

yes you have the best of both really, I don't think its necessary to have 2 rooms.  only thing is you might want to create a "Home" or "Dashboard" room which you use as your main landing page for the house, with shortcuts to the things you want to see/control at-a-glance.

@chopedogg88  Can you elaborate a little on the "Dashboard" Room concept?  Can I put a shortcut in there to say, "Turn on the Apple TV in the Living Room,"  and another to "Turn on NPR in Bedroom"?

    Thanks,

    David

  9. Same issue here.  It seems to be tied to using the Play/Pause button when the Apple TV app you are using prefers you use the select (middle) button to start and stop playback.  Pressing the Select button resumes playback and stops the music.  I don't see anyone being motivated to fix it, so I just live with it as a quirk.

  10. Hi, all.  In OS2, my Sonos Favorites (or in newer Sonos parlance, items added to "My Sonos") would appear under Favorites in the Control4 listen area.  I became heavily dependent on this to choose specific Apple Music or Spotify playlists, Apple Music Stations, TuneIn stations, etc.  In fact, it became my main way of choosing listening sources.  In OS3, the Sonos Favorites are nowhere to be found.  Choosing "Favorites" under the Listen menu actually crashes my iOS and T3 apps.

So, my question for all is, can I get back my Sonos Favorites?
