Going OT here so apologies in advance....we have a few screens like this which i could only have wished the devs could have improved the UI and created a means by way of having the standard functions above a separator line, say, and the custom buttons below it for ease and expediency. When i see my screens with the same sort of situation, my OCD kicks in 🫣

This… and equally off topic, it would have been really nice to have the Touchscreen and iPad layout the same.  I have the above setup to look “Ok” on my Touchscreens (T4s) but it looks terrible on an iPad because the iPad has an array that is 6 experience buttons wide compared to my T4s which are 5 experience buttons wide…

you could do it with some clever programming.

This! I’ve got something like this set up with programming kicked off by one of the buttons on the interface with the door station. Basically involves ending one session and initiating a new call.  Both easy enough to do in programming.

I believe i'm looking for an IP driver that can connect to the Intelliconnect via wifi or a driver that can connect through the Pentair Home app credentials, similar to how my Carrier driver connects to my HVAC systems.  I'm really just looking to see my heater temp in C4.  Any idea if bPentair or another pentair driver can connect in this way?

You can try the Pentair IntelliCenter driver from the online database.  This connects via IP but I don’t really think it will connect to to an IntelliConnect system.  I still think the bPentair driver is more likely to work especially if you are only after the heater temp.  But the bPentair driver requires an RS232 connection. You will need an RS232 to RS485 adapter to connect it to your IntelliConnect panel and even then, as I stated above, I am not 100% sure it will work as bPentair is designed for IntelliTouch not IntelliConnect.

The fact that you use the Pentair Home app is irrelevant to all of the Control4 drivers currently available.

Which driver and version are you using with successful connect to intelliconnect? Will driver allow for integration simply using pentair home login credentials?

There are various drivers for IntelliTouch and IntelliCenter.  However, I am not aware of any driver specifically for the IntelliConnect.  These drivers communicate locally (either IP or RS232) with the Pentair system so don’t need the Pentair Home credentials.

The Pentair communication protocol is fairly standard so it is possible that one of the existing Pentair drivers (IntelliTouch or IntelliCenter) may work with IntelliConnect.  If I was to take a guess at which one is most likely to work, I would go for the bNet Solutions bPentair driver.  But please note this is an IntelliTouch driver and there is no guarantee that it will work.  AFAIK it was originally intended as a universal driver and if you reach out to the developer he may well help you get IntelliConnect integrated.

Controllers generally have 3 failure points.

power supply the most prevalent, common of all electronics
memory is rare typically age related
network interface, usually from a surge

I wouldn’t say they fail by percentage anymore than any other appliance/tech. Power conditioning/UPS and thermal management will certainly prolong their life.

Historically they are surpassed by updated units with superior speed and abilities, that has been a roughly 7 year span, although I’d say that’s expanding to 10 or more as overall, pc tech itself has matured. Meaning newer processors performance is up to the tasks for much longer, and harder to surpass by new applications.

Focus your choice on the longevity of the company and their saturation. It’s very hard for a startup to last today, Brilliant is a recent example.

This is an accurate summary.  I have 18 or 20 Controllers across 2 homes.

One home has had Control4 for 13 years and I have changed all of the Controllers in this home once (due to software enhancements that the old controllers could not handle).  I don’t expect to change my controllers in this home for the next 4 or 5 years… so I am anticipating getting 9 or 10 years out of a controller for 2 consecutive periods.

My second home is newer (6 years old) and none of my Controllers have been replaced although I added a CA10 when they came out 5 years ago and I added a Core5 more recently to give me extra audio capacity.  Again, I don’t expect to replace any of my Controllers there for a good few years so I would expect to make 9 or 10 years on my first batch of controllers at this house.

I have never had a controller failure at either home.

Touchscreens I have changed more frequently and am on my third set of Touchscreens at my main residence (due to enhancements from V2 to T3 and then T3 to T4) in 13 years. I would hope there will be a T5 sometime in the next few years and I would probably upgrade again.  At my beach house, half my Touchscreens are the original T3s and the other half are T4s where I opted to upgrade.  In summary,  touchscreens seem to last me around 5 or 6 years.

So we came back after a few hours and it now connected. Maybe it needed time to reset? Anyway thanks for responding.

Something else was wrong if it took a few hours to return.  Even with a very large system, it comes back up within minutes of power being restored to the main controller.  Perhaps the main controller had no power.  Your remote connects via Zigbee and your phone via WiFi so there are limited potential issues that could cause both to fail.  The most likely is that the main Controller was offline (for whatever reason). Another possibility could be that you have a secondary controller which handles the Zigbee and your network was down (causing your phone not to speak to the controller and your secondary controller not to speak to the main controller meaning no Zigbee control either).

  7. My Zigbee network hangs for a good 30 to 50 seconds every now and then.  I have the same problem on all 3 Zigbee networks (2 EA1s and an EA5).  When it happens on one Zigbee network, the other 2 work fine (I.e. this is not an issue that impacts the whole system at once).  I used to notice this on one or other Zigbee network once a month, but the frequency of the occurrence has increased in the last few months and I now notice this once every 2 days or so.

When this happens, the Zigbee commands stack up (and there are usually a few as I press random lighting buttons to try and get something to work).  The commands all execute 40 or 40 seconds later.  Any suggestions?

    TIA

  8. Is it easy / affordable to replace the Neeo battery or is it better to bite the bullet and upgrade to a Halo Touch?  My Neeo battery won’t last half an hour of the charger anymore which makes it practically unusable.

I have that driver. It is aPITA to get it working correctly and I am in lack of a nice GUI - so without a nice GUI any more effort is worthless.

I’m not sure if you are using the newer HopSoft version or the older Yatun version?  The HopSoft one is much easier to use (in that it has an easy means of importing the Modbus map into the driver). I’m updating things again now that I have an easy way of updating the Modbus map!

in terms of GUI, the Janus BMS monitor (for graphing variables) and the bNet solutions bIcons driver (for showing single values on an experience button) give one a great front end! I probably graph (bar, stacked bar, line, timeline or pie) around 200 variables (half of which I read into C4 via Modbus).  Then the Custom Info driver by Barbini is very good for displaying string type info or a number of values in one place.

I use all 3 of the above for my GUI and am very happy with what I can display.  Took some work but I use the info daily.

  10. You could also do it with the driver you have screen shot as follows:

    - change the countdown in the properties from “1” in your screenshot to 10.
    - add programming when drivers countdown variable changes to 0, start timer XXX

    - create a timer xxx which is 10 minutes long.

    - when timer expires set the driver you screenshotted to 10 minutes using the device specific command in the driver.

This will give you single click is on (manual), double click is on auto and will show the 10 on the icon to let you know this.  Any click on the experience button while auto or manual has been on for more than 10 seconds will turn it off.

Using this method, you won’t be able to stop the auto run during the 10 minutes off unless you either add another button (which stops the timer) or turn the fountain on (manual mode) and off again.  If you choose the latter then you will also need a stop timer command under the driver specific event “on”.

Sync scenes - the device is told to store and pay attention that when Director broadcasts Scene 128 for example (which corresponds to Downstairs All) - then Kitchen Island you go to 25% over 2 seconds, Counter 38 etc...

This avoids popcorn affect, where lights get the command at varying times, and Director doesn't have to send a command to each lighting device, but sends 1 broadcast command.
(I looked it up, each lighting device can be part of 32 scenes, and systems can have 1000 scenes.)

Thanks again to @RAV - I now understand how lighting scenes in Zigbee work (which I did not previously).

Unfortunately, this did not fix my problem.

After a lot of tinkering, I have been able to figure out what is causing my issue and, essentially, OS3.4.2 has created an issue in my system linked to my security driver (or the security proxy).

In summary, if I have a programming command that controls lights or an advanced lighting scene that runs within a short time of my security system being armed or disarmed then the command fails more often than it works (more accurately, if I have 2 or 3 lighting commands, the second and third ones fail).  As soon as I add a 30 second delay after the arm / disarm command before the lighting commands, everything is good again.  Sadly, this worked perfectly up until this OS release (with no delay needed).

I have Family Plan (which I believe used to unlock all quality levels) and it still shows quality as “No Limits” but the MQA option seems disabled (I honestly can’t say for sure if it was previously allowed).  I get same message to log in with HiFi account to unlock this.  Not sure how to see details of what quality it is actually using for any given song.  Also not sure if I could hear the difference, so not too worried, other than obsessive desire to get the max quality I can. 😉

I also doubt I can tell the difference but I do want the max quality 😃

    Hi,
My understanding was that u already use Modbus to pull the data - it seems u do not.

The GUI is looking really good. For the driver to work as a general UI at it need is a driver option to read other variabels for:
    production (current)
    total day
    export
    usage house
    SoC
    charge rate

then anyone could connect basically any solar system to your UI via a C4 modbus driver (there should be one, I havent tried it though)

There is a good Modbus driver out there. Originally developed by Yatun.  Now supported by HopSoft.  Available for sale on Driver Central.

  14. The CA10 was launched about 5 years ago.  I’ve had mine for just short of 5 years.  So I suspect it was designed 6+ years ago 😉

All that said, most people on the forum won’t know the answer to your question and anyone who does know the answer will not answer…

The CA10 is a really great unit and you won’t be disappointed if you buy one.

  15. Bumping this topic as Tidal now provides the higher quality audio on its standard tier.

Firstly, I am keen to understand how to access this on Control4.  The driver properties say that I need to log in with a Hifi account to change the settings but all accounts are now Hifi and the driver does not seem to recognise this?

Secondly, after the upgrade certain songs on my playlists started stuttering in playback.  It seems like these are the higher quality tracks.  The only way I could fix this was limiting the quality in the Tidal driver (which defeats the purspose.

  16. Thanks @RAV - I have a feeling that syncing all scenes may have fixed my problem.  As this was / is an intermittent issue, I can’t be sure until I’ve had a couple of days without the issue but some quick testing felt good.

Id be very keen to understand what syncing all scenes does! And why an OS upgrade may have broken things such that this was necessary…
