Hmm previous reply of mine didn't load apparent;y. You should wire to the alarm input - it may work but if not you're risking it throws off the alarm completely.

Seems like the one you have doesn't have a dedicated ouput - if you're willing to 'life-hack' you could wire to the red light output (assuming it's 5-16v) to sig and ground.

At your own risk of course

Ok Sig and Gnd of contact on controller. What driver do I use for the detection? Is it just a generic contact driver.

Thanks for your help on this. Last time my septic went off I wasn’t home and luckily a neighbor heard it and called me.

  2. One side of the input puts out 5v. Then when the alarm activates it puts out none.  So would I just wire into this to a contact sensor on the IO Extender in the Sig and GND?  Then program off recognizing the voltage being present?  What driver do you normal use?

Many sceptic alarm setups do indeed have a sensor output to tie into security panels, external alarms or in this case you'd tie it to a sensor on a controller and program away. We've done this numerous times.

Like a relay or a contact?  I still need to go look, but I have an EA-3 and a IO Extender near the inside unit.

  4. Has anyone ever done anything with a septic alarm. Mine recently went off while I was out at dinner due to a toilet flapper that got stuck open. Luckily my neighbor saw the light and heard the exterior alarm and gave me a call. Would love to do something where I can receive a notification if it is alarming.

Anyone ever have issues with components dying?  I have had a 10kW solar system since 2015.  This summer my SolarEdge inverter died.  My dealer came out and you could see scorching on the circuit board, so something shorted out or there was some kind of small fire/heat event.  SolarEdge replaced the inverter for free,  but it took about 4 months to get the inverter replaced so my system was down for the entire summer which cost me about $2500 in revenue, as with my system I sell the power back into the grid and a very nice price.

Was the replacement time period a Solar Edge issue or an installer issue? My inverters are also Solar Edge so curious. Before I got my system I talked to a guy that’s a friend of a friend who works in the commercial solar business. He told me the manufacturers like Solar Edge are usually pretty good, but these small to medium installers come and go a lot. So their individual maintenance warranties aren’t worth the paper they are written on.

  6. I have a 31.45kw system here in VA. 70 panels on a ground mount about 500 ft from my house. I was paying 500-600 a month for electric by the time I did it that was only going up every year. I paid 80k for my system, got a 22k fed tax credit (it’s a credit not a deduction) that prevented me from having to pay 30k to the feds last year. I also get an 80k deduction on my real estate taxes for 5 yrs.

In 11 months I generated 42mw which paid me about 2.2k from SRECs that covers my yearly propane bill (main floor heat, cook top, tankless water heater, outdoor grill and 22kw generator). I haven’t had an electric bill at all since Jan 2022. Think we are expecting full return after all the tax breaks, SRECs, no bills around 9.5 years. Note it also increases the value of your home should you decide to sell prior to getting the return.

All and all, I’ve been very happy with the investment and luckily I paid for it with stocks that are now currently in the toilet so I actually timed it well.

  7. Ticket submitted.

Upon further look it seems the C4 driver hasn't checked into Tankutility/pulled a reading since late in the evening Dec 14th.  Allow login in directly to Tankutility shows the Tankutility device itself has been checking in successfully daily. Display Diagnostics says there is no errors found.  Selecting the submit diagnostics options errors out.  So guess we will see what they say.

On a different note, Merry Xmas everyone.

  8. Hey everyone,

I have the Tankutility driver to display the percentage of propane I have left in my tanks. Recently the driver stopped displaying the percentage in navigator for both of my tanks and instead is showing a red ring with ???% in the display. From the driver properties it looks like it is reading my tanks and connecting to them properly. I noticed there was a recent driver update around 12/16.

Is anyone else using this driver from drivercentral and having any issues? It’s been pretty solid until now.

  9. Hey everyone,

Basically I have a Triad Matrix and Im trying to integrate it into an audio zone that is driven by a Receiver.

Setting 1: I currently have the receiver set to the correct Input with a static High Volume.  Then in the connections I have the Matrix set as the audio end point 1 and the audio volume 1.

Setting 2: Ive also tried the semi inverse, in which I set a static volume on the Matrix output, then set the audio end point 1 to the Matrix and the audio volume 1 to the Receiver.

Not sure if one way is recommended or better than the other.  Is one of these options the correct way to do it, or am I over thinking this? What I don't like about either option currently is the Receiver basically isn't controlled by the room activation automatically.  I know I could add some programming to the room on/off to power on/off the receiver, just didn't know if maybe Im over thinking it like I mentioned and I should do it a different way that would also turn the receiver on/off automatically without extra programming.

    Thoughts/opinions?

I wanted to clarify, Is the question about using synology as a streaming source withing the control4 environment? Or just using the synology nas as a streamer? My experience with the synology as a streamer has been amazing - I have a DS918 that runs plex as my media server. I also store all my media on the synology. However, my set up currently requires me to launch plex (either on my apple tv or native Google tv platform) then select whichever media I want to consume. I would be interested to learn if it is possible to program it as a source within control4.

    Thanks

Plex or movies within Plex?  I have a Plex icon in my navigator under Watch that when I select it automatically opens Plex. The Plex client is either running on a FireTV or a NVidia Shield in my house. So basically I don’t have to select Fire TV and then launch Plex. I select Plex and it automatically launches the Plex app on the FireTV
