  1. Looks like it will do what every other android device will plus have their own aggregator app? Have to subscribe for the app I’m guessing.

They are pushing Sling pretty hard. Dish can die in a fire as far as I’m concerned.

For C4 control it does mean the IRUSB should work.

I ditched my entire NAS collection about 5 years ago when it just seemed so much less work to rent or stream.  I started with Dune and Mede8ers, then to Kailedescape, but the expense was getting out of control, so I sold my system to a client.

No, I don't have a projector, but I have a media room with a Samsung 75Q900R display and a 7.2.4 setup driven by a Denon X8500.  It's a nice setup, albeit the acoustics could use some tweaking.  Anything Atmos that I have played via BD has been really impressive.

So, ATV Netflix for instance isn't true Atmos?  From what I've researched, Netflix can play an Atmos track with ATV 4K, Xbox and Shield.  I have Roku Ultra's now and I they won't stream Atmos via Netflix (there's a matrix out there showing what streaming services have Atmos on which streamers).  I want my cake and to eat it too... I want Atmos, HDR and Mini Apps.  That's a tall order.

No streaming service offers lossless Atmos. It's all going to be compressed DD+, which may not matter depending on your ears and equipment.

If you want uncompressed  TrueHD Atmos is either going to be from a UHD BD or a rip from that BD. It's also has to be played back on a device that can bitstream the audio track. Shield is currently the only one that can besides a Windows PC from a rip.

The only one that will do what you want is the 2019 Shield and give you the option to go Plex with a local library of TrueHD movies.

Only reason I asked about the projector is because the one limitation currently with the Shield is that it can't tonemap HDR from UHD to HD. If you have all HDR UHD displays you are golden.

  3. If you have local media you can install Plex server on any PC(Windows, Mac Linux) and check out the Plex interface on any PC(Windows, Mac, Linux, including the one the server is on)

If you only want to stream and don't have any local media then as mentioned Plex isn't for you.

Now you mentioned Atmos. You are not getting Dolby True HD Atmos (lossless) with any of the streaming services, it is DD+. It will be Atmos but compressed and not at the same quality as the BD. If that matters then you might want to look into setting up a local library. To go deeper into the weeds, a Windows PC and Shield are the ONLY devices (minus dedicated BD players and boxes like Kalied$cope) that will let you bitstream Dolby True HD.

Do you have a theater room with a projector?

Interesting that you, and others insult potential customers, just because you think your premade graphics are better than someone else's custom made ones. I have looked at Control4 graphics and to me they are just generic plain templates...def not one I would prefer, and the reason I asked about using my own, but after hearing comments in this forum I will not even consider buying Control4.

    Mods delete my account.

Biggest drawback about C4 is the screens which I also find mediocre and the lack of ability to make them more custom.

Maybe look at Crestron which a good dealer can make amazing for ballers.

Does the USG even have proper VPN?  One of my few frustrations with the USG is that it does not easily run OpenVPN server which I was able to have on my old Asus router.  I did have it running for a while, but you had to run a bunch of commands in the CLI as it wasn't supported in the Controller GUI.  But then it died and I couldn't get it back alive so now I just run OpenVPN server in a docker container on my unRAID server.

IPSec yes with hardware offloading. Supposedly can do 800MBps. They can do OpenVPN but I’m sure it’s pretty slow.

Are you sure Sonos won’t integrate with the nucleus. If it does, I’ll be buying a nucleus tomorrow. Have my eye on one anyway. Fascinating piece of tech for audiophiles. And if it integrates, game changer.

Sonos works as an end point for Roon, so it should integrate just fine with Nucleus AFAIK.

As a Roon user with C4 Matrix amps I do it opposite and use Shareplay as endpoints in Roon.

Also - part of the noise you here is the charger cord end dragging across the polyester. When the guy brings the MyLink units over he’s also going to bring these little “hooks” that he ties the cords up with so that doesn’t happen anymore.

I also noticed in this video one of the shades started going down SLIGHTLY after all the others. That doesn’t bother me, but it is the first time I’ve noticed that. Every other time they’ve essentially been perfectly in sync.

I have 11 large Somfy motor shades at the front of my business. They all seem to start at slightly different times, almost like the master remote sends the commands to each one in sequence.

    KWD,

We have a full Sonos System will this allow us to search our Music via a T3 TouchSreen  ?

It should AFAIK.  I don’t have a Nucleus which is required to bring Roon into C4 so I can’t say how it well it works in C4.

It should allow you to make anything that works as a Roon endpoint work as a C4 end point with the Roon mini app in C4. IE you can’t use native C4 streaming to the Roon created end points.

There is a free trial of Roon though so you can set up a system to see how well it all works with it’s native app.

I enter the area through a man door from the garage. It's on a sensor for my alarm system which is also programmed in the c4. So not sure if the c4 can detect open sensors through the alarm system or not?

I have mine setup to turn on the garage and mud room lights when I open the garage door only if the alarm is armed. The door sensors are seen by C4 from the alarm integration.

Oh no I am not and that is a great idea, what make model do you have? Is it intergrated into your C4 if so how?

I have a non integrated Jacuzzi JVX pump, it does have bluetooth for programming. I have a Pentair panel and should have got a intelipump but wasn't thinking. But once I got it set the way I wanted I never touch it except to back wash and clean the filter. I as going to get the panel integrated until I realized the only time I ever do anything I'm already out there by the panel anyway. Would rather add an intelichem now more than anything.

You can save a bunch of Spotify playlists to Control4 through the Spotify Connect driver and then play them from Control4 directly, without having to use the Spotify app. It's less powerful than the Deezer integration but much more seamless than AirPlay. I wouldn't characterise it as worthless.

As a lazy iPhone user I guess I just prefer to listen to things on the fly or via Roon.

I current have a Deezer subscription for my C4 system and it works well. Unfortunately my car only supports Spotify and I’d rather not have two separate music subscriptions. Are there any differences between the two services as far as functionality and service in C4? I’m considering a move to Spotify but it needs to work well.

    Thanks,

I recommend a new car. Spotify support in C4 is pretty much worthless IMHO.
