  1. Thanks for all the help everyone.

I usually just run the local sources into a TV, and use the optical out on the TV to the Jtech, over cat5/6 to the rack, and into Triad matrix / amp.

This seems like the best option for me. Does this method not create any noticeable lip sync delay? I have all Sony TVs, two Samsung Frames, and a triad matrix / amp if it helps.

Depends on what type of audio you are looking to extend.  Either way, with a Roku Ultra, you're looking at using 2 devices to complete the job if all you have is CAT wiring.  You'll need a HDMI Audio De-embedder (many types and not all are the same) and then an Audio Extender.

That was my next question. What is everyone using for HDMI audio extractors? Seem’s like another piece that might cause lip sync issues.

  3. I'm looking for the best way to send audio from a local streaming player (Roku Ultra) back to the rack. I know of all types of audio baluns and extractors but I wanted to start this thread to see what everyone else is using and recommends. I am looking for a solution that does not introduce any noticeable latency or quality loss. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I'm dealing with the same issue.  I converted the TVs to IR control via a plug anticipating going back to IP control when stable.  We tried using straight DHCP, DHCP with a reservation, static IP, wired and wireless.   It wasn't reliable and my wife was about ready to rip out the whole damn system.  Used a Cat5 balun- quick and easy wiring swaps- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IXZRXAS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Sony recently upgraded firmware on a couple A80Js and they seem to be staying online- available for screen mirroring on my iphone.  I'm not in a hurry to make a change back to IP, but we'll see what happens over time.

I'm also having the same issue with my A90J. Since the most recent Sony update everything has been flawless (fingers crossed).

Our house backs to a pond that is home to a bunch of Canadian Geese that invade our property, eat the grass and poop continuously everywhere. I’ve tried all sorts of deterrents like fencing and fake coyotes to no avail. The only thing that is 100% effective is turning on the the lawn sprinklers when I see them up on the grass.

Since I have a smart Rachio sprinkler controller integrated to my C4 system we should have a great automation opportunity if we can reliably detect the geese presence, effect an event in the C4 system, and trigger the sprinklers.

My plan was to use one of my security cameras and NVR to detect motion in the area, create a c4 event and turn on the sprinklers. Using a Wirepath 1080p IP camera and a Wirepath NVR has been totally unsuccessful.

I recently discovered a device from Camect www.Camect.com that is a smart NVR with AI that appears to do some amazing object detection and alarming. One of their videos shows the detection of a raccoon at night with just IR illumination from the camera! Apparently you can instruct it’s AI to distinguish between a UPS an FedEX driver!

I contacted Camect to see if that had a way to integrate to C4. Their suggestion was to get a box from Universal Devices (Psi…something) to integrate their box and Rachio. The Psi box at $379 is interesting but is just taking the place of my C4 system.

So……..I need a C4 driver for the Camect NVR. I can see this being VERY useful in a lot of systems and a great addition to a dealer’s toolkit.

    Thoughts?

FYI: I’m a former C4 dealer, now retired

I have the same problem in my yard. I have explored the idea of camera detection with sprinklers but honestly it just seemed like too much of a stretch. Please let me know if you make any progress! Good luck!

I experience this scenario from time to time.  Here is one trick that seems to reliably sort out the problem for me; I have no idea why it works.

Go into driver properties, and increase the number of zones by 1.  Then click set.  Once the new zone total is accepted, decrease it back to the right number and click set again.  Now check if your zones are updating.  Maybe my black magic will work for you too.

Thank you for your response! I am going to try to get the bug patched before I try your way because I figured it would be better for everyone to get it fixed permanently. I will update you in the future. Thanks.

  7. Sorry for reviving this old thread but I am having the same issue that was described above. The issue only started happening about 2 weeks ago. I do not use Honeywell total connect. Does anyone have a recommendation as to what my problem might be? I have already gone through the process of rebooting director, unplugging my HSIM, and my driver is up to date. I can arm and disarm the alarm, but my zone status is not updating. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
