IP Cameras

Recommended Posts

Something that you care to share? I'm in the same boat. I'd like to install a camera outdoors to monitor the vehicles as well as one indoors for my theater and nursery. I've seen the reviews on here of the Panasonic cameras and the other brand, but due to the high prices I've held off.

I just had two Lilin IP cameras installed outside our house.  They were just installed Friday, work very well, no complaints.  I called their tech support for further help and they were very nice and spent all the time I needed on the phone to get them all set up, offered advice on how to angle the cameras for best viewing, best practices for using their recording software, etc.  Can view in the C4 app when not home, or there is a $4 iOS app (Free on Android) that can work too.

Would that be the inclusion for analog cams without the need for a driver to stream it? Ip cams are so close to analog in price but performance is so much better that hopefully the integration of cheaper ip cams is on the horizon.

Nope. You still will need IP cams, or a converter. The Wirepath DVR is one exception I know of. It takes analog cams and feeds them in to C4. Axis 241q does this as well, but fewer cameras and isn't a DVR.

So essentially rumor is that 2.6 I imagine will allow users to use other "ip based" cameras. IE if users had a dlink IP based camera or other panasonic, ect cameras that were IP based and used different codec's to package the image?

Does that about sum it up?

This is just a small snippit.

This release includes a new camera proxy allowing camera manufacturers and driver developers to greatly enhance and extend the functionality of their drivers, creating further differentiation and value between various camera lines. New camera drivers can now support H264 for mobile devices, SDDP enabled cameras, have access to a new camera control-control allowing preview and control of all camera modes from inside Composer, include much improved diagnostics and Lua debug logging. Because new camera drivers are DriverWorks based, they can include manufacturer documentation, as well as context sensitive Control4 written help.

So if you use the wire path dvr with analog cameras. Can you add ip cameras down the road too?

If so would the ip cameras integrate straight into the wirepath or into c4

Thanks

Adam

The analog DVR is only setup to record analog cameras. You can still add IP cameras whenever you want, they would just not run through the Snap A/V DVR. They would show up right along side all the other cameras in the GUI.

I run 7 SnapAV Wirepath 750 cameras with the WirePath 300 9 channel NVR. It works through Control4 and there are no problems. Full visibility while inside and outside the home. I also had the dealer run a 24 port NetGear GS 728TP PoE switch dedicated to the camera setup. My wife loves it cause even she can use it...non technical person.
