N8Ball
I am having issues with using the "Network File Storage" driver. No matter what I do I can't seem to get it to connect, but it appears that I have full access to the shared folders when I use Windows Explorer, etc. It's probably something stupid I'm not doing, but I can't figure it out. Any direction/recommendation would be greatly appreciated. FYI - I am 100% certain that I used the same credentials in both Composer and Windows Explorer FYI 2 - all I'm really trying to do is get access to my iTunes music so that I can use "My Music"...so this is a non-issue if there is a better/easier way. And yes, all my music is in ACC format and not protected.
brucecampbell
Try putting 'WORKGROUP' in the Workgroup box and try again.
thegreatheed
sharing from Windows has a lot of issues, and there's no good resolution. if you can get your music on a USB or NAS, that's the best solution. msgreenf

Cyknight
Already mentioned, stop trying to connect C4 to a computer, get a NAS - store it there OR use the iTunes driver IF that is a fit for you. msgreenf
Bubben
Have the same issue with win10 pro, running as my family's fileserver Until a couple of weeks ago i used WHS2011 instead. That worked, and I had no idea it would be so hard (impossible?) to get this functionality with a later Win OS. All in Win10Pro is improved compared to WHS2011, but it looks I have to roll back to WHS because of this. I've tried to put WHS as a virtual server within my Win10, using VMware. But the filetransfer from the virtual machine was too slow so I ditched that idea before i tried it out completely. Why is it so hard to get Composer to connect to these shares? Does Cyknight know? Cyknight
Windows 10 isn't a server software. It was never great to use a 'consumer' windows as a network share, but in Win7 or 8 Microsoft made changes to how their shares work (can't be bothered to dig for the details). Control4 if I remember correctly looked at it, but it was too involved to make the changes to have their Linux version compatible as it was never a recommended or great setup to begin with. And no I do not know if Windows Server 2016 has the same issues. Frankly, for storage use a NAS or a NAS intended server such as FreeNAS or similar. msgreenf
Destroyer of Worlds
I didn't think he was serving from Windows, rather can connect FROM windows but not from C4. My Network File Share stopped working; it was perfectly working as of about a week ago, and no updates have pushed. If I try to "Connect" from C4 I get "unable to connect to the network share" I'm not sure where to begin but checked that NFS, SMB are on and my C4 IP is permissioned as it was. I have same issue, can not connect ever form my HC800 using NSF Driver, it wont work whatever I do, I have enabled SMB1 as well on my NAS, zero, not working, whatever I do, USB even is not working, I gave up. Destroyer of Worlds
I tried doing this: change the NETBIOS name of your NAS to it's IP address. Then, it worked for me.
