Control4 "App" for Windows 10

Recommended Posts

Just curious -- while we have Control4 APP's for IPhone, Tablet, and Android devices, is there an APP for Windows 10?

I already use it on my mobile devices, but at times, would like to jump on the computer, running windows 10, and launch music or turn on lights from the PC.

I have version 2.9.0 loaded currently -- if that helps.

Thanks

Yup. It exists. Control4 my PC app. It's in your account to download. Note it requires flash and air to be installed. And it doesn't work off your home network

I keep C4 for PC running all the time on some of my PCs as when I am working this can be the quickest way to do the the tasks mentioned by the OP - start some music, turn on lights, etc.

To be honest it is kind of slow and kludgey, as it takes about a fortnight to startup, but it does the job.  I hope it gets replaced soon with something more modern than Flash - ideally this would be a web based UI run through a browser.  And so would Composer HE for that matter.

"air" - what app do you use to open up the "Control4 for PC-Mac.air" file?   I already have FLASH loaded -- I assume you mean Adobe FLASH?

Thanks

You need to install Adobe Air for PC or Mac OSX.  Choose the right one for your OS ---->  https://get.adobe.com/air/otherversions/

Sorry for being clueless but Like "App in the Air" app? -- or what App program?

Adobe Air needs to be installed on your Windows PC first.  It's not an App.  After, you'll be able to run/install the Control4 for PC-Mac.air file.  Once installed, that is the "app" you will run as the C4 PC Navigator for your system.  You'll have to set it up when you run it for the first time.

That works surprisingly well.  I had never used Bluestacks before.  Thanks!

Yep, Bluestack (and other android emulators) are unfortunately slow to start to it's not for a quick login and logout scenario, but it works well.

Quick question.

Does anyone see an issue if  I use the windows app for C4 and install a touch screen on a mini pc?

Would it work like a touch screen?

I can get a 15" Elo touch screen with  a mini pc for $300. Any con's to this?

Other then the intercom or cameras being viewed on touch screens which we don't have integrated, are their any other limits?

We currently use two tablets for touch interface. They get used about 15% of the time. We mostly use remotes in the rooms unless we are listening to music. Our dealer told us they would be limited but we have not had any issues since we switched to them from our original mini screens two or three years ago.

Thought it would be an interesting attempt at a bigger touch screen spending $700 less then a new touch screen.

Thanks for the input!!

There are drivers being made specifically for T3 touch screens so you'll lose out on those benefits.  I find most of those drivers quite handy..... particularly the Generic URL driver by blackwire.  I can plug in a custom url and view the web page on the T3.  Having my google calendar available on the kitchen T3 gets me out of a lot of trouble when my wife adds another event without telling me.  I'm less likely to miss it...
