Automatic on off water valve.

Recommended Posts

Flo by Moen would do it but is an expensive way of doing this.  I have Flo.  I also have some cheap valve (probably is a sprinkler valve) that my dealer has wired into a Z2IO for turning on and off water on another line.  This valve has been wired to be NC and this  particular line goes to an autofiller that has an auto stop on it. Thus, failure of the valve would not be serious. If failure was a concern then I would probably have used another Flo valve.

Yes.

There are inline ball valves from plumbing supply warehouses that you can use, various voltage control options, some are auto open, others auto close, others dual triggers.

Example:

Just be sure to get the steel one if this is on potable water. The brass one has lead.

Correct, I didn't catch that the bookmark I had auto linked to brass as default. Edited link for stainless.

No worries. Brass is fine for other needs and we don't know what the needs are...

Can this valve be wired directly into my controller

Sure if it's got a relay built in (not an EA1/CA1).

12volt supply: neg to valve, positive to COM, NO to valve. Programming, close relay powers valve and water flows. Open relay (or power outage) and valve auto closes.

Other valves have 2 relay connections. One to open and one to close, so depends on your usage and what you want to happen if the power goes out.
