Triad One Independent Review?

I’m looking for any published independent third party review of the Triad One. My Googling shows plenty of Control4 or Dealer promo materials/blogs/“articles” that are really ads/etc. but nothing like you can find for most home A/V gear.

I’ve heard one myself and I was impressed, but that was just gut feel. I’m in a situation where it would be convenient to use one for a fairly serious listening room - a home office where a pair of > $1000 speakers will be put in place. I’d like to know how well I could expect the Triad One to compare against something from the likes of Cambridge, Audiolab, or Rega.

Thanks!

I don't know that the Triad One is something I would consider or a "Serious Listening Room"...

Don't get me wrong, I love mine, and have it hooked up to Triad Gold Monitors and it sounds great.  But When I think Listening Room I think B&W 800 Diamonds or similar and I wouldn't be putting the Triad One together with those.   I guess it all depends on how serious your "Listening Room" is and how connected your home is...

Zaphoid - funny, the article Mitch linked noticed the same thing.  Probably because CI installers are used to it.  Does seem odd for a product designed to be placed outside the rack.

I used to read a Canadian Audiophile magazine called UHF and those guys were fanatical about big fat speaker wires.  Having Phoenix connectors would really negate the point of having low AWG speaker cable.

I am old school - I have a C4-8AMP1-B powering multiple sets of speakers around my pool deck!

I have 25 zones of audio - 3 of the big amps in to a big matrix (including the back deck and patio) but we had to turn the volume up too loud in some areas to hear it in others, but I was out of zones...so I added the Triad One and it’s been awesome!

Totally agree.  I said "fairly serious" and in retrospect that's probably a stretch.  For example, I don't believe the room will have acoustic treatments, and the music is secondary to its primary use as a home office.  However, the existing ceiling speakers aren't cutting it.  I'm also trying to figure out what the sources are going to be.  Unless the playback is coming from CDs, lossless rips, or something similar, the SQ lost through compression is going to matter a lot more than the amplifier.

Thanks again to all for your comments!

Not a big deal, but why does the Triad One have Phoenix speaker connections? It looks like there is enough room to have put 2x2 banana terminals. Or does C4 want to move to a standard of Phoenix on everything?

Multi-zone Triad amps use them as well, so it's consistent across the line.

Triad One really isn't made to do an 'audiophile' setup - regardless of if you believe heavy gauge wiring makes a big difference (I'm not convinced of the value of it, and I used to work for a company that made custom 5 digit price tag per stereo set speakers).

  1. The best "review" I, or other current dealers can give, is what products we are willing to personally spend our money on.  I personally bought a triad one for my office, and I love it.  So there's that.  I was given a NEEO, and while I like it, I can't say I would shell out the MSRP for it, so there's that.  I think the triad one is well worth it.

Understood, as did the C4-AMP104 and 108, and I can understand Pheonix connectors as it gets cramped when you have dozens of speaker terminals.  But you only have four terminals with the Triad one.

I am not using them all, but I have 16 zones in my rack, another 8 zone in my kitchen, a 4 zone in my pool cabana and a 4 zone in my Master Bedroom.  So I am up to 32 zones but I doubt that I will ever use them all. I guess my layout now is semi-distributed.

Nice. Yeah, mine all runs to a central spot. I don’t have any equipment save for displays outside of my rack.

Not defending it - just noting that it's how Triads amps are....

Now curiosity is killing me...  which speaker company :)
