Native Control 4 Music Service Might be Gone, Thoughts?

Hello,

I am pending a reply from my dealer but thought I would ask here as well.

I think once again my Control 4 native music service has disappeared from my HC800.  If this is in fact the case, this would be the third time this has occurred in the last 2-3 yrs. Basically I have no audio from any of the Control 4 music services, nor from My Music (NAS storage).  I can select any source and it seems like it is playing but no audio comes out.

It has been fixed it before but a bit time-consuming. I wonder if anyone have seen this behavior.  Maybe is time to get one of the new controllers, just holding off a bit.  All else in C4 seems fine.

Thanks for any input you can share!

Thanks for the replies.

I'll check again when I get home just in case I missed something on the volume levels on the audio outputs but if the case, why would that change all the sudden??  I have never changed that setting. For sure the connections are not the issue, that I know!

As for the 'music server disappearance', am using the terminology my dealer used when we first saw this a few years ago.  I am probably one of the first ones Control 4 guinea pigs (end users) way back when they started. He has been my remote dealer for many many years and is quite experienced.

I think that it might be a bug where whatever serves the C4 music disappears from my project. I am not sure what it involves to put it back but he has done so twice and it works great for a while and then all the sudden is gone again.  He mentioned the prior time it might be an indication that the hardware is failing. I'll ask him to explain the issue and will post here if of interest to others or in case I am not referring to the issue correctly. Was curious if anyone had come across this issue.

so on the C4 interface you go to "Listen" and when you click "Listen" nothing is there?  Or you click on something there - say Pandora - and no audio plays?

I stand corrected, it is not that the music service goes away, issue is that something in the OS breaks not allowing for music to be heard. I guess functionally, it means same thing...no native C4 audio.

I can select the source and IT DOES appear in C4 as if it is playing in "Listen" and "Zones" (Pandora, Amazon Music, Sirius, my Music) but I am unable to hear it.  I hope this makes sense.  Anyway, I will recheck that problem is not at my end and circle back.

There used to be a problem that on certain controllers the controllers volume output would default to zero after a reboot.  Worth checking your controller volume output.  My dealer and I programmed a rather funky work around for this in one of my systems (the code is still there - whether it is still needed, I don’t know).  The work around was to connect the controller’s audio output (on the offending output which was only one of them) to a room that does not have speakers (as the audio endpoint) and then program the volume in that room to be set to 80 (or may even be 100) on start up.

One possible step in troubleshooting would be to start a second stream of digital audio (in a different room) once the first stream is playing (and silent).  This will tell you if it is only the first stream that is a problem or all streams.

Checked all suggestions. It seemed that the HC800 was sending audio fine to Matrix but signal not making it out to the Amplifier. Rebooted Matrix and now all good. Had done that previously and no workie! Glad this time it was not a Control4 issue!

Many thanks for everyone's help!
