Binary MoIP Controller - Switch

denniswstr

Question

Hey all,

we have a problem with one of our setups.

We want to use a Binary MoIP Controller with 4 TX und 4 RX.

The problem is, we can't use an araknis switch. The araknis switch kills our whole Internet in den City.. we dont know why.

We have an aruba switch for all other things (phone, internet, laptops etc.) und connectet the araknis with the aruba switch.... booof internet down.

We tried to use the aruba switch for the MoIP Controller, but that will not work.

Anyone installed the System with a third party Switch? If yes, which switch do you use?

Thank you

Are you using managed switches?

Technically there is no limitation on what (brand) L3 managed switches you can use, but Binary;s setup guide is limited to araknis, pakedge and cisco.

Well the first thing you'll have to do is in fact figure out why, as it likely is something between your router, your core switch and the moip switch that is causing the issue. First thought is a router with multicast routing enabled, or the aruba has igmp snooping turned on

But it should ONLY be set on the MoiP switch, not on multiple switches (unless you want to get into some really advanced setings)

I have it set globally on Unifi.  I don't have any issues.  I'm running Moip on the same network as everything else.  I have 3 TX and 4 RX. I have it split pretty evenly across two switches.

In other words you have a specific setup that isn't the standard recommendation: I'm well aware those are possible, but as OP is struggling getting the recommended (and pretty basic at that) setup going, I'd not suggest he gets into that at this point.
