I think what ISNT clear is whether you need to have it plugged into an AndroidTV/Shield?FireTV to USE the IR output (from what I see/read yes you do, but it isn't clearly stated as such).

No need to root it or do anything special.  You just install the IRUSB app from play store.  We have tested this on Nvidia Shield, Fire TV and Foxtel Now with great success.

No the IRUSB does not require IR for IP control.  The reason why its called IRUSB is that it also has (on top of IP control) IR control and IR output (which you can use as an ADDITIONAL IR output for your control4 system).

To clarify:   IRUSB performs 2 functions in C4 (using our free C4 driver)
Fast IP control of the Android device (nVidia shield, Amazon fire, etc) including direct app launching via mini drivers A IR output you can use to control something else close to that device (the IR emitter cable is 3 ft long, although you could use an extension cable).  This is like an IR extender (think Global cache) Both functions can be used at the same time.

Chowmain - Yeelight Wifi RGB LED Lighting driver for Control4
Yeelight manufactures a range of affordable Wifi controlled LED lighting products. The range consists of dimmable RGB, White and strip based LED lighting. These products do not need a hub like other wireless lighting products and integrate directly into Control4 with Chowmain’s Yeelight driver. This two way driver allows do dim the light, change the color of the light, change the color temperature of the light and more.
    Features
Two way control/feedback.  Instant feedback if LED controlled from another application.  Automatic Discovery of Yeelight  Self Healing on change of IP Address  Automatically hide RGB and/or Color Temperature’s from Navigator on model detection.  Change RGB color via navigator  Change Brightness via navigator  Change Color temperature via navigator  Program color flows from Composer  Advanced Lighting Scene Support  FAQ

Why is this better than other RGB solutions?
This is an extremely affordable solution (starting from $20) which does not require an additional hub to operate.  We have full control over pretty much every function including color, temperature, brightness and even color flows.  We have instantaneous two way feedback. If the customer uses the original application Control4 gets the change immediately.
Where can I purchase this product from?

wappinghigh got a reaction from VINCELdUB in annex⁴ - FREE KODI Control driver
Sage is pretty awesome but FYI if folks need an alternative, You can now do this using the Vbox Gateway streamer front end and the Vbox Kodi PVR back end within Kodi...
The streamer is from Israel. It converts FTA streams and broadcasts them on your network (and there is a STB/cable TV/Satelite TV version as well I think.. check the details to get the exact right one you need for your partic TV signal and needs)  The PVR Kodi app picks up the streams and populates Kodi with a TV section and a PVR/recording section..
It's pretty cool actually as everything -> Live TV/"TV Guide"/PVR/music/Video/Movies is all on the one tiny Kodi loaded device... Goodbye Coax cable to any new TV location... including Live TV and PVR access right up on your desktop PC/Mac or ipad/ tablet ... basically anything that runs Kodi works... but you need enough video processing power..
There are now 4K Versions of the gateway i believe and 4K Versions of Kodi box's (check the specs as you need decent video processing)... I am doing this right now... though obviously no 4K FTA TV yet..
A Nividia Shield would do it on it's ear and AlanC has now said this is his preferred box but it's expensive and Android .. and there are way cheaper DIY Linux based solutions out there as mentioned...
Vbox is pretty easy, the gateways are cheap and you only need one of these... nothing that someone who can configure and load Kodi onto a media player isn't more than capable of doing.. W

wappinghigh got a reaction from South Africa C4 user in Chowmain - Oppo Bluray Player Driver
I need to use ARC because run out of cat5/6 options to get digital audio back from TV (playing TV channels direct and apps on TV). The Oppo sitting in cupboard back behind TV can pick up ARC and route it onto amp (15 meters away in Rack in garage to decrease fan noise etc) via second HDMI (audio only) out. This is working well and along with the HDMI *in*, and a fantastic IR receiver that picks up IR bounced off walls ...(seriously guys you should check this out on the Oppo its awesome)...   is one of the most underrated uses of the Oppo...

    Hi Alex,
Yes the driver supports mapping of the HDR and Zoom button to non intuitive buttons on the remote.
The driver supports discrete switching between the following inputs
BLURAY HDMI/MHL Front HDMI IN BACK BLURAY USB AUDIO IN OPTICAL IN COAXIAL IN ARC ON HDMI OUT1 ARC ON HDMI OUT2 You just need to bind the devices onto the correct binding and the driver will do the rest.  Having said that i would not use ARC in general.  Purely because Control4 does not have a concept of how to route ARC.

wappinghigh reacted to zaphod in Is Alexa becoming a C4 competitor at the low end?
Today Amazon announced a bunch of new Echo devices and new functionality for Alexa.  You can now set up "routines" like good morning, good night, etc that can control multiple devices.  Does that make it somewhat of an integrated smarthome controller?  The Echo plus now has Zigbee support, but it isn't clear what that means.

How are you guys implementing the drivers in regard to auto room on? I have one driver now and haven't had a ton of time to test it out yet.
Seems a little clunky, but my idea is to get 8 drivers, one for each of my 8 zones and then i can just select what room to turn on from Spotify. Does this make sense or is there a better way?

As Thawes more or less said as wellm there's a LOT of possible variables to take into account. Unlike airplay where the actual stream volume is controlled (or ignored) in the case of Spotify, it is intended to control the end device's volume. Not a major issue on a single point devices where the stream has only one place to go (even streaming to multiple Connect points still means each actual stream only has one single possible path, including Sonos) - within C4 or other more complex setups this may well be a huge undertaking due to all the possible variables.
I do not know if it's even possible to extract the command being sent out by the Spotify app. I've heard it said that it's 'just' a UpnP command, but I've hear quite the opposite as well in that it's a function buried in the Connect base system/plugin.
I do not claim to know the truth of of that last part at all, but the simple fact that it could go either way or anywhere in between indicates that getting volume control may be at best a while in coming, if it comes at all.
Like I said elsewhere, at this point I would not view the Spotify Connect integration as a way to lose an app (though it is certainly a way to lose some hardware), but as a way to be more efficient in using Spotify (as opposed to use Airplay as well), a way to not have to stream from your phone all the time (as it hands off the actual stream handling) and as a way to get Spotify without added hartdware and/or via Android based phones (vs being limited to airplay or use Sonos or Chrome Casts)

I don't use Spotify at all so don't know really how it is/works but I don't see the issues here.
Play your stations during one setting and save each one as a preset.  Then the controller uses that info to stream without the phone/tablet ever again.  Can also then be used for programming as well.
Yes maybe the initial setup will suck but it gives you more flexibility this way, especially if you're trying to stay within the one app, C4 eco system.

I'm talking about giving back the added flexibility to the SR250 and SR260...
It's got nothing to do with using apps, or ios or TS..
We still have an SR250 and 260 in all critical watching rooms.. in addition to all the other options...
We happen to think this is still a pretty handy device to have lying around....even if it tends to disappear down the sofa gap on occasions..

I don't find this a stupid idea at all, honestly. Nearly every other "universal remote" has the ability to emit IR codes as well as RF. At the very least this is a good option for just turning on/off a TV that is being controlled via IR since most clients instinctively point it at the display anyway; of course there are scenarios where this won't work and an embedded emitter/232/IP is important...or like the OP stated, as backup when shit fails...and you know it will, just to keep some basic features available to the client.

wappinghigh reacted to Elvis in Alexa "The device is not responding"
I've been programming and testing for about 3 hours now.
In my case, things are getting noticeably better. Patience is really required. It takes time to go from Composer > Controller > Control4 Cloud > Control4 Alexa Skills > Alexa Discovery.
Discovery Channel must be The Discovery Channel, otherwise she'll run discovery every time. The Weather Channel won't work, try TWC Avoid the trailing word "Mix" (DirecTV has mix channels. I use the word Grid instead) Avoid starting with a word that could be considered a music genre. If the Voice Scene doesn't show up on alexa.amazon.com then wait, re-discover, and try again. There's a HUGE risk of name confusion. You can create a voice scene name and, apparently, change the Alexa recognition word on the Control4 Alexa skills page. Then you can have on the Alexa page group names. If you have another HA hub or device Alexa recognizes, the risk gets even greater. I can't begin to imagine what is going to be like with multiple TVs that one might want to control with multiple Echoes.
