  1. I'll back the installer. The Sony's are great. Excellent sound quality, reliable, 5 year warranty, and seamless integration. What features do you feel are missing? No streaming, that's a bring your own, and they do work great with their music connect sense feature.
  2. It is known. I've had some luck force quitting the app. Hold the watch side button till shutdown screen appears, hold crown button till app closes. Relaunch app.
  3. Roll Dog, For client IP Control - use the IP address of the Genie 2 (make a router reservation, DirecTVs are known to be forgetful of static settings) and input the EXACT room name of the client box. Caveats - no IP power control of clients, and no client side 'setup menu' navigation, for that you would still need IR.
  4. Not true. The HS17 has an Ethernet port of it's own for wired LAN. The C61 4K client boxes use coax. RVU TVs use Coax - Deca - Ehternet Port (you do not appear to be able to do RVU TVs with your own network switch and category cabling, which you could get away with prior Genie) And yes, IP address and Room Name gets you control of clients using existing drivers, with the power off exclusion.
  5. Where there's a will.... https://www.digikey.com/en/maker/blogs/amazon-dash-hack-connecting-to-your-ifttt-account/f3192a6e7e4a4920b9b7963a33e1d4fd Basically you have to run a server on your home network to listen for and intercept the Dash output.
  6. Samsung 40MU7000 Yes, needed update. Got it working fine, but the WAKE on LAN to power on was painful, 10-12 seconds. In the end, I stuck an emitter on it, not worth the hassle or potential service calls/explanation. "Yes I know the Sony's in the house respond instantly, start your coffee, the kitchen TV will turn on in a minute...." yeah, no. (Set is hardwired to same switch as Director.)
  7. Used it with bug screens another dealer had installed, he had already programmed the Somfy remote that has a channel selection on it, one of the channels he had programmed for all three shades as a group. So I programmed this piece to do that group channel and all three work together. Range is the same as a Somfy remote..... (since it is one). As noted, if you also want 'stop', that's another wire and relay.
  8. If all you need is open & close of one group, then this piece is dead simple. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HM9QOCA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's a Somfy remote in a box with wires for contact closure, of course you'll need to locate it within range of the shades. It's a lot smaller than the box they include, naked remote circuit board inside, needs 3 wires using 2 relays on a controller (open, close, common). If you also want individual control of each shade, than not the solution for you.
  9. It's a control SYSTEM, not a remote control. "Well, in this room you have to point, and no the app can't turn off the TV because, and"... yeah no thanks. Run a wire, use a z2ir or IP control. Don't want no line of sight stuff.
  10. Doorbird also has a model (Birdguard) for this use, and intercom tie in with HouseLogix driver, and you could check in with their app when you get that one night off a year to go out with your wife.
  11. The Control4 thermostat will do all you want and more. The Nest is prettier but you are at the whims of a third party, their API, their server, your ISP, your WiFi, your network. You desire the integration of HVAC and your home, not as a would be nice to have feature, but as a requirement. Buy the Control4.
  12. Fail without out Apple branded products and being open source protocol for Android. 1. Nest is not going to be first on board, and they are certainly the most visible in the market to the average consumer. 2. Large vendors (Lutron's of the world) aren't going to want to support two platforms. 3. MANY households are mixed OS's Would a common protocol help the industry, absolutely.
