  1. locally the dealers are quite contentious and cannibalize each others technicians and such. Plus with so many different connected devices and interoperability of third party equipment I don't think this is the greatest of ideas but hell what do I know LOL. I would just never use this service based upon being on some of the technical calls with my dealer and the Snap Support which is at some times laughable and at other times takes 30-45 minutes to get thru to a resource. And I'd be hard pressed to think they will be able to work a flowchart/logic diagram to troubleshoot the advanced systems without either someone onsite to do some elements of follow on work or explain items done that may not be labeled properly in the project to make this effort as seamless as dreamed up. At least with the current support (previously Parasol and now a competitor) their ability to troubleshoot, diagnose over the last 5 years has been quite limited at best. In this model, on an advanced system, it seems that a RMR for a local company to offer this which most do themselves with the tiered service and ability to know the system much more definitely than C4. Then comes the question of if the problem is with a connected device (Sonos, Josh, Pool Driver, etc) will Control4 offer support in this premium model or give you the dance of 'contact your dealer.'?
  2. Perhaps you're right. Running four separate 44RU of gear here along with 1 CA-10, 1-EA5, 4-EA-1 and Core 1 along with 21 Araknis switches. Just out of curiosity I ran my budget spend from 2023 specifically for maintenance/troubleshooting calls (excluding upgrades and new gear) and spent $1,943 for onsite on hand items that this service would cover. Granted I run most of my scenes in Josh.ai that I do and learned myself instead of HE and When/Then but still that that seems steep just from my perspective. But guess they have canvassed users although I've never had a poll, survey or questionnaire come to me from Snap in the 15 years of owning C4 and related products to identify a market price for these servicing offerings included. In fact some past years a portion of what is being offered here has been free from local dealers in exchange for word of mouth referrals, testimonials and others.
  3. $3,000 per year for Remote Assist Premium. No thanks. Don't even spend that today on local support truck rolls on troubleshooting and software enhancements. https://restechtoday.com/snap-one-launches-control4-connect-and-control4-assist/?mc_cid=c2a696845a&mc_eid=865e14db33
  4. as long as it is regular and frequent updates and assistance then I can see the value and not just a money grab. something that they don't have a very good track record of doing compared to some other systems in this space. How does assist compete with or compliment Parasol? Or is this just a rebranding of Parasol?
  5. sorry should have just said iOS and not mobile on this.
  6. Newest mobile update. Hoping C4 will actually either publish an update to their Smart Control publication and/or start sending information updates to end user customers for any updates to any relevant customer facing systems, apps, devices. The new list icons was a case in point where had to come here to the forum to find out and no information sent to at least those with a 4Sight account (e-mail on file) to say hey we pushed these updates in the last day, week, month. https://joshdotai.medium.com/a-special-holiday-release-introducing-the-new-josh-app-areas-interface-87a382c5a4d3
  7. Hopefully they can do what you are describing soon. This is pretty much covered ground with solutions already in place for the other major control systems. This is something where C4 is years behind on development or attention to what you're needing as a use case, let alone an elegant and simplistic way to view, access and swap between residences. It really doesn't need to be rethought since this has already been solutioned by others to be leveraged if it is a priority.
  8. Yeah the example is from Crestron home where it is a 1 click function that has been in place for about 4 years. I am not sure about Savant. For Josh it's a 2 button click.
  9. Yeah that's the Intelligent Areas function within Josh.ai. I have C4 and Josh and have started using more of the latter as the user interface (remote, iOS app, etc.) with C4 doing some of the backbone work of items that system doesn't directly control (use of their Bridge). The customer portal allows a customer (myself in this case) to create, group, and nest rooms, zones, etc. on demand and within seconds. So everywhere I have a grouped area (bedroom with retreat, bathroom, bedroom for example) you can nest those areas.
  10. amen - to have a bunch of blue rounded squares and no option for stock photos like Josh/Savant/Crestron is just software application negligence. So now have to go take photos of 2 dozen zones to not have this clunky non-descript icon showing up in the list. terrible
  11. This just doesn't seem to be so hard if they take some time to have forethought and a design/user interface perspective on these type of changes. The examples here are ones that take the effort to show high quality images that aren't so compressed or small aspect ratios on the rooms views and then properly obscure/blur the background to not be so intrusive or make the device options hard to read if you have a high contrast photo of your room. This needs more work and design thoughtfulness. These examples, IMO have a much more refined user interface and have been out on the marker for a few years now and don't seem as clunky as what just got rolled out in this latest mobile app update from C4
  12. agreed - I'm okay with creating or adding thumbnails of pictures for each room or a set of stock photos to represent each room in the room/zone list. However, I don't like that it shows up as the wallpaper background then on that room when viewing all of the controls. very distracting and pretty poor user interface design, far from elegant and streamlined. I'd almost go so far as it is pretty terrible compared to background images that are either blurred and non-distracting or have a more refined aesthetic shown by all the other major control systems. Can easily get demo versions of those apps to do a comparison. This feels completely hodge-podge and thrown together.
  13. I haven't seen a way to do so via When/Then but I don't do most of my scenes and scheduling in C4 and instead use a different control system layered on top to do items like this. Hopefully I'll do pool controls seasonally in 2024 when have time to spend on this.
  14. be sure and have them add the Auxiliary Controls. Dealer did this as shown below (using my Composer HE) and the associated screen shots in the app. it's not the most elegant of solutions and I typically use the Omnilogic app instead of the C4 one for pool controls (lights, heater, water features) since the driver is quite limited IMO.
  15. agreed - definitely better firmware and more of the standard C4 feature set included. There is 0 chance Snap/C4 are going to do a refresh to a new/V2 remote anytime soon.
  16. No suggestions here but have same issue on 2 of my Halo Touch units which happens about every 2-3 weeks. Usually just have to do a restart but the most recent unit I did a factory reset and it pushed new firmware as well which is odd seeing that it was on the system for the past 4 months.
  17. agreed and wish they were quicker with the OTA updates and the feature sets. Sold all my NEEO's which wish I kept one for examples you mentioned. In addition to C4 I have Josh.ai layered and use their AVA/Josh remotes for the guest bedrooms. They are locked down by my config and setup for A/V and then scenes. It's been a real nice ease of use feature for guests to not be confused by a ton of buttons and options and can use any voice command for their guest rooms that don't affect any other room/zone
  18. well we were sold on OTA updates more frequently in both the publications and benefits. Guess the frequency of OTA's is once per quarter at most other than 'under the hood' items we still have not seen discernible improvements across the board.
  19. agree that it's better tactile and as an interface than a NEEO. Just frustrating their very slow timeline to deliver a fully functional remote. 2022 introduced the non-touch at CEDIA and ISE and teased a touch unit. Then did same at ISE/CEDIA this year and still don't have full basic functionality expected. Comparing to the other majors that released their remotes that were fully functional on those elements is pretty sad IMO
  20. that is definitely been an issue here (the connect and re-connect). Fortunately of the 7 Halo's I have they so far in the last month (fingers crossed) only require a restart of the remote themselves. In some rooms I've put the Halo's away for time being since they don't have all the standard C4/NEEO functionality and setup some Josh remotes with scene programming and voice that lock the doors, close the shades, trigger scenes without creating extensive composer home programming. Hopefully C4 will do a better job of getting feature sets rolled out sooner than this long lag time on these type of feature sets.
  21. the roadmap/timeline would be good as they still don't have locks, shades, etc.
  22. Sorry I didn't attach this sooner. I never needed this document to know how to do the announcements but here is their document. In my case I have Nano's & Micros in every bedroom and common areas. So the VoiceCast provides the announcement everywhere. It also announces on the speakers in places where I don't have a Josh installed (i.e. pool speakers, BBQ area, patio, etc.) Josh Announcements.pdf
  23. Have NYCE for garage and closets for a few years and work really well. I recently installed a couple of outdoor rated Faradite motion sensors to replace the NYCE ones I tried that didn't work out too well. The Faradite ones work really well also from my experience so far.
  24. I have all X10 cameras and recently upgraded the NVR to the LUM-220-NVR-16CH. For the past 3 weeks the LUMA View app is giving 'Offline' or false 'Intrusion' messages. At first these errors were only happening every 3-4 days. Now they happen every day 8-12 times per day with the Offline messages. Sometimes when I go into the Luma View app 1 of the stated cameras shows as offline (still shows online in C4 app) while other times they still show online. My integrator seems to not have a clue how to integrate the two since it's observed as trial and error or on the phone with Snap support only for the issue to keep recurring. Hoping to get this resolved before looking at the Luma Bridge device sometime next year.
