  1. awesome - was curious to see how well this device would allow for the AI functions for identifying people, cars, etc. Want to get some of that setup in the new year. Just wish it was a bit less expensive or handled more than 4 IP cameras. Hopefully there will be someone that does a product demo video on it in future.
  2. Haven't upgraded to 3.4.0 yet. Curious to know reason? Have a CA-10 as well and in discussion with my integrator they have waited to push the update based upon specific issues they came across in upgrade and awaiting another incremental release from Snap to fix bugs they found.
  3. this was the unit I was curious about in a different thread last week. May wait a bit before getting this unit. Only 4 cameras?? have 14 cameras here - darn
  4. interesting. Had a 2 Hikvision NVRs in my brick and mortar store and each failed in less than 18 months and were a PITA. Very much disappointing experience.
  5. thanks - wasn't aware of existence of another forum. Do tell!
  6. appreciate that insight - saw it advertised at conference so thought it was going to come online or for release much sooner.
  7. Thanks for that information - teasing and not releasing or no defined date is annoying
  8. Has anyone installed the new LUMA Bridge device yet (LUM-BRIDGE-4CH)? I saw it at CEDIA but didn't spend any time going thru it or getting a demo. I have the X10 cameras but want the functionality of of what comes with the X20 cameras that this bridge purports to provide. Looking for any in the field feedback on this unit. Thanks in advance. 9. I give a voice command to tell the guest it's time for Dinner, movie, going swimming ,whatever. the situation calls for. The broadcast goes thru every Josh Micro and every speaker in the house where I have a Nano which covers all zones that I have it installed throughout the house. It's used when we have family/friends in town and not a daily element. it's not a problem for me or needed any discovery.
  10. I meant to say 220 for the new NVR. I don't notice the fan noise either way as I keep this in a dedicated rack in an isolated room and with a HVAC Mini-split unit. So I can't speak to the noise on this one. Other than the issues above it has worked well. I only go into the app a few times so far to look at an error notification and a few times to navigate playback which works well. Since I don't have the most recent Luma cameras I'm unable to take advantage of the AI features shown in the demonstrations available on YouTube. We just needed a new NVR because the prior model was causing lots of errors to the point it was not functional.
  11. I'm in the same boat. i just upgraded to the 220 NVR unit for my Luma 510 cameras and DS2 Mini 2 weeks ago. There is a specific method to do the update for the Luma 510's to the 520's on their new NVR. My integrators were following guidance of one SnapOne tech rep (I was in room working while they were doing this) and it was completely wrong based upon repetitive 'offline' notifications from the Luma View app. They then had to do it a different way so just be mindful of that if you go that route. The Luma View app is much better than the previous one so far but still getting occasional 'offline' messages but not nearly as frequent; in all cases it never actually went offline of if so was for a fraction of a second. They've submitted subsequent tickets to Snap support and have received no reply in over 5 days.
  12. that's the nice part about the platforms. Different use cases for different households. We had 4 T3's in the house from approx 2017 - early 2020 and maybe used them 1-2 per week. When we switched to using Josh in place of the T3's we use them 40-50 times per day for anything from morning routines (that vary on time of day so not scheduled in) to discrete commands when my hands are full. My wife uses it a lot to open close shades, turn on music and the such for her in-home daycare without having to find a remote or get to a wall with a touchscreen. For us, Josh is a discretionary spend but also has allowed us to get more value out of not only the Control4 devices we already had (i.e. lights, A/V, etc.) but saved on programming like Lutron shades where they just worked from the jump without having the integrator program them in. For the most part we use it as a 'layered' device in the same approach that Crestron has chosen to use it with their integration options with and making their OS Home app available on the AVA remote. Having used the system at this volume for 4 years provides enough of a sample size for our use case to recommend it to those that have a similar interest. If not sold on it and haven't used it before, that's all good too. And as far as price it fits our budget as we prioritize items like this discretionary spend over other items (cars, clothing, etc.) that others may value as good use of discretionary. We were considering Alexa and Google originally and I went to the Origin Acoustics HQ here in Vegas to play around with it in 2018. It was super clunky at the time and slow so it was a non-starter at the time. Voice is viewed as a complimentary element on our end and today the Josh platform provides a much enhanced home user experience for us for the reasons stated above and the very easy custom scene creation, editing and the like in the portal. That part alone has saved us thousands of dollars in creating custom scenes, triggers, etc and far superior to the When>Then C4 functionality. So I see these, in present state, as complimentary products if you have this or a related use case that fits your lifestyle. For us it's been fantastic as a paying customer for nearly 4 years of use. If we were to move/build a new home, it would be a strong potential to go to just Josh given the ease of use, deployment, hardware costs, and amount of daily use we get from the system. The reliability has also been quite good on the items we've compared on a case by case function such as using it to raise/lower shades versus the raise and lower on a C4 keypad, the 2N/DS Mini notifications, door locking and relays, etc. I am not sure it's quite there for a large installation (not an integrator so this is conjecture), but from what I have used and seen at other smaller installations (i.e. condos, townhomes) it works very well and reliably in my friends' and colleagues' properties as a standalone.
  13. @JSTRONG that's correct. I asked 2 Josh reps at CEDIA and 3 different Snap One reps at their booth and got the equivalent of the shoulder shrug and pointing of 'that's on them.' The bad part is the discussion of this functionality was in September 2022 which was 10.5 months before a lawsuit was filed in late August of this year.
  14. ditto! My current 5 year license is coming due soon so happy about that the change in pricing forthcoming If any dealers get word of when the Josh to Halo integration might be coming that'd be greatly appreciated to know!!!
  15. Have used Josh.ai Micros since 2020 and they still work fantastic to this day and used way more than the T3 in-walls that they replaced. At present they are a very nice compliment to the Control4 system I've had since 2011 along with the upgrades in gear. We have the HALO touch remotes in all rooms with a TV but use the Josh commands via the hardware or the app for everything other than controlling the TV. It is disappointing that the voice control integration promised at 2022 CEDIA between Josh and Control4 has not happened. When I went to this year's CEDIA I went by both the Josh and the SnapOne booths and asked about the timeline. What I got from the representatives was it was the other company's responsibility to develop that integration (the equivalent of pointing fingers). Meanwhile Crestron, ELAN, and Lutron have their voice commands integrated to the AVA remote. It's not a dealbreaker but it would be nice to have this integration promised (videos from CEDIA 202) that promised it which is a bit of a farce considering they stated and showcased something coming to market that never materialized. In going thru the demonstration at the Josh booth at CEDIA this year they were strongly emphasizing and showcasing their system as a full automation platform with the integrations to leading manufacturers which was nice to see. Not going to rip out my C4 gear here since it's quite extensive but would be curious to see how a stack of their Core's together would function in operating a future home as most of my controlled devices also already work with Josh natively. Also disappointing to see the Touch or the Non-Touch missing key control functionality after this amount of time on the market (i.e. Shades, Alarm, cameras, etc). That's pathetic
  16. Way too much credit given @tmj4!! I'm just a consumer that read up, researched and evaluated my options before selecting. The MXNet 10G was almost solely chosen for the fast-switching and Multiview functionality. The inherent tiling/multiview I'm using via this with my projector has worked seamless so far. I'm awaiting time to purchase the multi-view tiler from Blackwire Designs that is compatible with AVPro and Just Add Power which I will end up getting probably in a month or so. I already have the multiview functionality but their driver works a bit more intuitively in comparison to what I'm using with AVP and what I saw at the CEDIA show in person during some requested demonstrations. Otherwise I'll try to answer what I can if prompted. I'm just a customer whereas @chopedogg88 is a licensed dealer with many projects and installations that can speak more to this than I could! Nevertheless, you may want to check out the AVPro Edge YouTube channel as they have an extensive video on the 10G system as well as some customer/client stories for the 1G system
  17. Hello @gpavlin73. I would recommend taking a look at AVPro Edge products. You can decide between a traditional video matrix or an AV over IP solution like their MXNet products. They have really good customer service and products come with a 10 year warranty. By contrast I had a Leaf Matrix and then a C4 matrix prior which lasted 3 and 4.5 years respectively before having a multitude of issues. If you are going to potentially expand your system beyond what you highlighted you may want to look at going down the AV over IP route, although AVPro Edge does sell a modular video matrix to provide that flexibility as well. in my case I have their 8x8 video matrix with down-mixing (Axion line) for my whole home minus the theater. And then in the theater I am using their MXNet line of products (10G in this case) as I wanted to have the multiview functionality that comes with that product. I also have a MadVR Envy Extreme MK2 and it's dedicated to the theater. I cannot speak to any impacts there as I'm running it dedicated just to my theater and thru the MXNet with 0 issues whatsoever in the 4 months of owning so far.
  18. Stopped by their booth briefly and showcased some of their new projects but didn't ask about which would be ready for integration to Control4. When I stopped by later to the SnapOne booth and asked about support of 2N products and if any would be rebranded/specified with C4 requirements, the rep I spoke with just stated that they stand ready to support any 2N products. I didn't get any specifics on specific units they showcased for complete compatibility. The 2N IP Style unit from the 2N booth was pretty sharp but don't know if there are plans to integrate.
  19. To add on Josh doing the same and pricing their projects going forward based upon number of connected devices versus number of zones. Not sure when that will take place and how they'll notify customers that have the 5 year licenses like myself. Theirs will be either a monthly/yearly fee with an option to make a one-time purchase for the lifetime of the system.
  20. agreed. And with the new upgraded Terra servers they offer, quite a few of the pre-existing Terra's can be had a 'relatively' good price on the KScape Owners Forum. It's not an impluse purchase in my case so took budgeting, saving and setting aside money as a priority but like you I've loved it and enjoy the convenience and quality of it. Don't enjoy spending time tinkering; I like it that I set it up, added to system, and had it going and running in a matter of minutes. And then the movie store and the disc to digital program was very price friendly along with the content sets.
  21. Definitely not rich but just saved up weekly for a few months to get the initial Strato S and then slowly upgraded from there. Before then had the original CinemaOne before the 1 day KScape went out of business and restarted. The content is owned so never lost it. There are integrators much more familiar than me on this topic but definitely prefer the stability, performance, reliability, and service with Kaleidescape. And now, compared to then, they have licensing agreements and two-way feedback with each of the studios.
  22. am thinking the same and don't have alot of interference either. Thanks!
  23. Thanks for that insight. Had started to spec out an upgrade of my service from ISP to 2.5Gbps and the associated router, switches and Ruckus WIFI 6 AP's. All of my entertainment source and end devices are wired with only having laptops and phones wireless. From you opining, worth waiting for Wifi 7 whenever Ruckus releases those products or safe to proceed with what's existing? I'm on Wifi 5 now and mostly satisfied with the wireless here although did get a spot review done and found recommended to add an outdoor AP and one more indoor AP. Using Araknis for the AP's but going to Ruckus going forward
  24. Wi‑Fi 6 (802.11ax) with 2x2 MIMO
  25. Rave publications has started posting short clips from the booths at CEDIA. The SnapOne videos were just posted moments ago that you can find on the Rave channel. Assume they'll add many more per usual https://www.youtube.com/@ravepubs/videos
