I literally have posts where you say your network's down and you can't get to the internet. That's not a control for issue

????  Not me. You’re making this up. If you have them then post them.

OS and firmware are the same thing. Different terms.

They’re not. Sorry. Computer OS’s update frequently. No one in their right kind expects consumers to update router or AP or BIOS on a computer with any frequency.

He is reporting his network goes down every day and he can't get to the internet or use c4 during that time. His network is not ok.

Guess you’re not referring to me then. Sorry. We don’t have internet issues when we have C4 issues.

I think so. Not that I think you should take updates day 1. But I think you should update quarterly or more often if you have issues

C4 can’t possibly depend on quarterly firmware updates to solve neeo issues. Most don’t update at all. I just have dealer update yearly.

To re-iterate, these products only work as good as your dealer designed and configured them.

Zero issues with Neeo and Halo using Ruckus product.

Most installers I’ve encountered in many industries literally unbox it and install it.  Seldom do I see any of these people actually test and fine tune the product.

I guess could be but they used ruckus gear and no issues with our other wireless devices, just neeos.

@Control4SavantOnce again, we weren't overwhelmed by thousands of installers calling through for assistance today. Maybe 1-2 tickets today for me personally, and I actually greatly improved a few drivers (such as ELK M1 V2, and Chowmain Light Groups) and 2 unreleased ones.

@penn65000  T4's weren't a thing when I was an installer, no issues with T3's at all though (I think 1 faulty one), and only had NEEO issues when they were first launched.

It's actually very easy to find installers who don't have connectivity issues (and, as I have requested before, I'd love to hear your exact network setup to get an idea of if its related to your issues).

Internet all C4 dealer installed and all ruckus.

I personally only had 4 new support tickets this morning for the drivers I wrote/contributed to. My tickets were:

    1. Feature request for LIFX (for a feature which most Automation platforms don't even support an option for)
    2. An implementation question about TRVs and boilers.
    3. Integration issue between LIFX and Alexa (which is not a bug, but more a behavior)
    4. VLAN's and Wiz issue due to UDP broadcasts. At worst, its network, at best, they forgot to configure C4 for the correct broadcast range.

    In regards to phone calls

    1. Had a call about Govee. Customer seems to have moved the lights to their own account, so the API key of course broke. Our Inbuilt diagnostics made this easy to diagnose..
    2. TPLink call regarding outlets. It was mentioned to them we have a new driver, so they simply wanted to upgrade it to our 2nd generation driver.

I'd personally expect a lot more tickets from dealers/end-users if there was "constant troubleshooting".  In fact, for drivers like Big Ass Fans V2, I've literally only received 1 issue on an existing system, ever...

There are a lot of systems using our drivers.. Based on my experience (and my previous experience as an installer), I'd have to totally disagree..

That’s wildly inaccurate and is more related to the quality of the dealer rather than the platform

We just flew 4 hours to deploy a 5th system for a client of ours at his newest property. People don’t do this if the system is unreliable

I’ll admit that there’s a ton of crappy dealers out there but reliability 99.9% of the time comes down to system/network design and also standing ground when the client asks if it can be done cheaper

So suspect you’ve not installed any Neeos or T4s correct?

This is why you DO use system keypads! It keeps any changeover in the future to a minimal cost.

and I totally get HE existing. There is certainly nothing negative about it being available. I just dont accept that in 2023 some of those things shouldnt be inside user app system settings.

What do you mean system keypads? Thx. Our issues are with the 6 button keypads mostly. All have issues w delays and losing functionality. Again c4 has been out, new controller, stronger mesh, power conditioners on sump pump, swap hardware etc. problems persist. C4 claims interference but don’t believe that because even dealer admits more interference in apt buildings and they don’t have issues in that setting.

I think that is absolutely the right way to go these days. I inherited my C4 system and replaced C4 lighting with RadioRA 2. I've still got some C4 audio, but Sonos just blows it away from a user and Apple Music perspective. C4 SR-260 is the best remote for anyone with cable, better than the new Halo with keys. Having said all that, other than the TV stuff, using Apple Home is a better experience than the C4 app for control

That's not a bad idea. And probably what they should do with the new Core Lite+ Halo bundle. Some issues: 1) C4 OS 3 is a functional legacy system in the stereotypical bad ways. There's lots of chewing gum and baling wire. Which makes the system tricky to learn and easy to mess up, 2) there are too many paid 3rd party integrations and functionality. Having some is absolutely great, but there are several that really should be built into the system in 2023, 3) proprietary Zigbee is a significant issue limiting device choice. Finally, if one looks at the better existing DIY systems they mostly surpass C4 from a non-AV automation (not control) ability.

I go with only C4 drivers as I think third party will ultimately disappoint. Thx for your thoughts. They are helpful.  Will ultimate switch to Lutron lighting which works w c4 and savant.

    1. Neeo was a bit of a stuff up but I still like mine. Will ultimately upgrade to Halo Touch,

    2. yes there was a bad batch but I understand C4 replaced these no issue.

    3. what bugs? Update to latest OS!

    4. I don’t believe this for 1 second.  C4 lighting is extremely reliable and one of their best features.

    5. Really?

What a pointless thread. If you want to change to Savant go for it.  I am sure they have their strengths and weaknesses.  So does C4.  Personally I will stick with C4.

    1. Neeo is a mess in many ways.
    2. we waited til after the bad batch. This is another bad batch

    3. I am on latest OS. Lots of bugs to point they had to power cycle our Core1 each night

    4. you don’t believe this? Why would I lie? Diamond dealer and C4 involved and still doesn’t work

    5.  Yes no response from corporate  amateur hour there

  11. Could someone provide fresh savant cs C4 comparison? Thinking of switching two homes from C4 to Savant due to:

    1) Neeo debacle (ongoing for us)

    2) T4 touchscreen issues (bad screens)

    3) Core 1 bugs
    4) C4 lighting in one home is unreliable (both are zigbee not panelized). All latest gen but in one home multibutton keypads unreliable. c4 rep been to home and never solved.
    5) SnapOne corporate lousy. Doesn’t respond to C4 complaints. Not sure if better w savant. But their indifference is a huge issue.

Sadly, Control4 integration is not simple. Other brands do not have these issues consistently.

Can you list +s and -s of savant vs C4? Thinking i might switch to savant but I’m aware (friend who has savant) that they’re far from perfect —- in. But the neeo issues and core 1 bugs are straws that broke camels back imo. I have two homes w C4 so this won’t be cheap and I have C4 lighting so wondering if savant can control c4 lighting (zigbee) or do I have to swap out for Lutron? My C4 audio matrix failed (like others — power supply) so I now have triad which I’m guessing works w Savant? Another big problem — waited until they fixed T4 display issue before having my T4’s shipped and now have 2-3 T4’s w display issues (dealer RMAing all of them). Can’t believe they sent me bad T4s. And over 1/2 my neeos were rma’d and the rest are dying or you need a lab tech to put them on charging station precisely so the contacts meet!

Apple voice once worked perfectly, but hasn't worked for weeks.

Channel up/down buttons don't work with Dish Hopper.

Pretty tired of continuous trouble shooting. Removed and re-added to the project, rebooted each piece of the puzzle individually and all at once (wifi, Halo, Core1, ATV, Dish Hopper, TV) talked nicely to it, re-added it to ATV, cycled Siri control on/off/on.

We’re RMAing all our neeos (going back to 260s) and now going to steer clear of halos. Awful, but what I expected given our neeo experience.

I am starting to notice flickering on my T4 also, but it appears to only happen at night after like 9/930.  And I have it auto shut off at 10pm every night.

Don’t know re autobrightness but don’t car. Told C4 to replace them all and all our neeos. Regional rep coming to our house.
