I have a puzzling problem with two 8" T4 touch screens.  A few weeks ago, both of them started intermittently flickering; imagine the screen shifting to the left and back very rapidly to create a flicker.  We have 7 other touch screens of different types (5 T4 10" screens and 2 T3's), all of which are fine.  While I cannot reproduce the flickering on demand, it seems to be much more likely when the brightness is low, and I have seen this behavior begin immediately after a programmatic change in brightness on numerous occasions.  At a minimum, it's highly correlated with changes in brightness and with low brightness settings.

I would have assumed this to be a hardware problem, but I'm mystified that the same issue happened at exactly the same time on both of our 8" T4s.  It seems pretty unlikely that hardware failures would happen simultaneously on two units.  It makes me wonder if this was a bad software update to the touch screens instead.

Is this a hardware issue that I should seek replacements for? Or should I just wait for a software fix?  I imagine replacements are going to take forever and a day to arrive, so I'm hoping for the latter.

    Thanks

Same issue here. Two T4s. Horrible. C4 regional rep coming to our home. Repeated issues with Core 1, all neeos dying. Two new T4s bad

Did some searching, but need a suggestion on upgrading my security panel. My panel is starting to go I think and looking to upgrade. I was in the integration business some time ago and have not stayed up on it. I currently have a GE Concord 4. RS-232. No IP control.

    C4 OS 3.31

Any panel recommendations that I can start looking into? Thx

Honeywell vista. Avoid DMP at all costs. Their stuff is junk and burns batteries.

Because when a router fails, and they do fail, system stops working.  Between shitty provided power supplies and post-Covid manufacturing, everything is a ticking time bomb.

Then you get panic calls.  Guess what, can’t login remotely because the router failed.  Now a truck rolls.  Time and money is why I and Rav above, do what we do.

Same can be said why would you install a backup power generator?  My power never goes out!!

If you use dchp you just plug in new router. If you assign IPs then you have to reprogram new router. So why again do you use static ips?

I will make a backup of my router settings that can be restored in the event of a failure. I also like the idea of reserving DHCP via the router as it really did simplify things. My question is whether or not this is sufficient for Control4 to avoid future communication issues between Control4 and the device?

Why would C4 need to assign any IPs? I don’t think we have any static IPs for C4 stuff and our system working fine. Original installer had static ips for Apple TVs and we upgraded the Apple TVs — they weren’t  working so I just removed the static ip. They get assigned and all fine. We’ve a boatload of devices and all of it works.

I have a swimming pool but have never really integrated it into C4.  I have a Jandy Aquapure 1400 SWCG, a Raypak heater and a pump.  I believe that both Pentair and Jandy have various "smart" controllers.  Anyone have a recommendation on these and whether they are worthwhile?  I have looked at these in the past and they have seemed very expensive and kind of limited in functionality.  And what I have read on here seems to show that the integration into C4 isn't always very good.

IAqualink works pretty well with control4. That said, pool automation is 1980s technology at best. Very expensive and firmware not upgradable OTA. So C4 with iAqualink fairly good (can manage heat and pump and temp and other basic functions) but the rate limiting step is iAqualink which is boxy and clunky and temperamental (can lock up and only response from Jandy is “power cycle”).

Owners of 500/501 NVR’s were thrown under the bus by Snap. They refused to provide us owners with a firmware fix that would have restored browser access. My unit was only 3 yrs old. Still garbage!

Sorry didn’t know that. Agree. They should update the firmware. I was furious when my 510 stopped working. As I’ve stated ad nauseum they rebadge Hik and charge 3x. Should be margin to sort your firmware. If not they should replace the NVR for free.

Just as they made my 500 series NVR useless after discontinuing browser support. Total garbage!

Our luma 510 works now fyi.  Yes browser wouldn’t work (chrome) for a year or so but now does. I know we had our nvr and camera firmware updated about a year or two ago (was when they marketed 3-stream capability — didn’t work —then C4 updated the firmware to allow cameras to provide what they had marketed — three streams). Not sure if it was that that fixed it but now works in chrome for us.

Heh, Hikvisions isn't much better. Clare is OK, I actually like Uniview's but overall camera apps are so-so for all of them.

Non of this means it shouldn't get fixed/they shouldn't offer assitance

Correct. As I said we have Luma in one home and Hik in another. Both C4. Luma app slightly better than Hik but if in C4 ecosystem, with the very fat margin C4 gets, the app should be fantastic and user friendly. It isn't.

So after using my Luma cameras for awhile I'm now having issues with the Android Luma app closing upon opening.  Nothing has changed.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled at least 10 times.  Works for a few hours then garbage.

Impossible to get assistance from Luma or SnapAV or whatever they call themselves these days.  The app has low ratings on Play store and now I see why.  Hard to believe high prices security camera company doesn't see their Google Play garbage ratings and fix their issues

Ready to throw system out and get something else with some customer service.

Given Luma is just hikvision rebranded at 3x the price, snapAV should at least provide first rate app. Mine is better than hikivision’s (I used apple iPhone ) but still luma markup is absurd and YOUR DEALER SHOULD FIX. If they won’t that is bs as they’re benefitting from the 3x markup and these apps should work.

Different sensor but used those 4 fence gates in NJ for the last 7-8 months.  Weather didn't knock 'em offline.  I did use some tape to seal any seams. If you are using this under eves and out of the way of most elements, I cannot guarantee, but I think you'll be fine.

I wrote the manufacturer and they said don’t use outside:

You can pair any generic outdoor motion sensor with something like z2io or Shelly as an alternative. If they're no longer manufacturing them, they might be still on the website because people still have stock internationally. But, I've never used them, or asked Snap about them so not really sure what's happening there. But it could just be they expect people to use generic ones and sensors.

If you have an alarm, you can also wire any generic one into the alarm too (which is how I'd normally do it)

Thx but I want direct to C4. I don’t mess with hub-to-c4 for anything (except some color led lights which work w c4 by design). There should be many devices which work w c4 zigbee but there, um, aren’t. These look nice but they’re not for outdoors https://www.axxind.com/product/wireless-motion-sensor/

While I do appreciate the replies and info, I don't understand why only one person answered my question. Which essentially was if upgrading from an EA controller  has anyone noticed any speed increases. I only see reference to driver problems and CA10s... So I will have to take away that there is no speed increase, in fact possibly slower.

Found this using Google (I’m not a dealer just end user) https://www.control4.com/docs/product/control4-software/dealer-release-notes/english/latest//control4-software-release-notes-rev-ap.pdf

You mean Outdoor Motion Sensors I assume? SnapAV doesn't manufacture a lot of devices (they also don't manufacture Retrofit light bulbs as an example).

Control4 like the other products we develop for though, does an excellent job of integration, which allows you to embed a range of manufacturers products. It's not a bad practice however, to use something like a Z2IO and standard motion sensor imho though (or if you want something non-snap which is cheaper a Shelly I4 or similar, which can hook up 4 sensors via wifi).

Another option would be to use AI on security cameras potentially, or other methods (depending on what you're trying to accomplish specifically)

In regards to the CA10, Cyknight is correct. CA10 is always a primary Controller (because its an EXTREMELY fast processor). Your CORE units would be configured as Slave/Secondary units (or IO/Video/Audio outputs/inputs basically). So, the processor in your secondary units doesn't REALLY matter much since the main CA10 does all the work (the drivers and project isn't copied to the slave controllers either) . That being said though, they need to be capable of running the same OS.

Basically, if we detect performance issues on a CA10 on a customers system. You 100% have a serious driver bug, or a bad network. On a Core Series, unless you have a VERY large install maybe similar. On an EA1/CA1 running as Primary, I have come across some larger systems which perform better on faster processors depending on whats running

    I mean these https://www.control4.com/solutions/products/sensors/

Work outside under eaves and no longer produced yet on website. There is no replacement. Believe me i and my dealer have looked.
