  1. Interesting. I could go that route. I have a PC running for blue iris. I’ll have to investigate further. Most issues now are around my iTunes collection not the flac stuff
  2. ha me too I guess I'll break it down and maybe only do my iTunes first and see if i can get that working. then start to layer in other sources of music using a 2nd and 3rd version of the driver.
  3. and to be clear to people who may respond, I am ok with having to click on one program to launch my live music collection and another for my itunes collection and a 3rd for my wife's itunes, or all of our itunes in 1 collection and my live music on its own. I do not have to have the ability to click "Allman Brothers Band" and get the live and studio stuff in 1 folder.
  4. id have to go to a synology forum - my model is not listed on the twonky site: Synology DS-101 Synology DS-101g+ Synology DS-101j Synology DS-106 Synology DS-106e Synology DS-106j Synology DS-107e Synology DS-107+ Synology DS-207 Synology CS-406 Synology CS-406e Synology CS-407 Synology CS-407e Wonder if its based more on the DM OS vs the actual hardware....a Synology forum would know, but figured I'd start on the C4 end of things first. I have an RS818+ model.
  5. I didnt do that but from the article: Note: Default shared folders (e.g. music) created for Synology's multimedia applications are automatically indexed, while other folders can only be manually indexed. And I am using their default "music" folder.... But I guess I can follow instructions on how to re-index which are listed below Thanks
  6. didnt see that specifically as an option. in the DNLA driver you hit discovery to find DNLA compatible drives and just pick the one you want. Doing that again considered re-indexing?
  7. will do. I am even open to buying an Apple TV or something if that helps with better iTunes integration and then using the DLNA driver just for my concert FLAC collection.
  8. I have an HC800 and trying to share a fairly large music collection. I have the DLNA driver and I set it up on Sunday but things just do not seem to be there 100%. In the Synology I added two folders to their "music" folder which is where their DLNA driver reads from to share content. I have two folders in that "music" folder - one is a folder full of live concert recordings in FLAC format - about 700 GB. then I have my iTunes folder - my iTunes on my personal Mac is not sitting on my mac but it sits on my NAS. so when I launch iTunes on my desktop it is actually pulling from this exact folder. that folder is 70 GB though I am sure its not 70GB of music as there are some videos, etc. Anyways the issue - I can very easily see some albums that are in my iTunes folder that are not available in C4. Not sure how much is missing because its a big collection but I can go look at some artists and they are either 100% missing or at least 1-2 albums from iTunes may be missing. And I only have 2 playlists in iTunes but neither is populating, instead I have 3 random playlists that have to do with my live concert collection and its random and makes no sense. I have not looked at my live music folder to make sure each and every concert moved again - again its 700 GB so its a lot. So I am almost there but not 100% of the way there. Is it best to host my iTunes via the c4 iTunes driver and only deal with my live stuff via the DLNA driver? On top of this I want to move my wife's iTunes collection over too, and she is bigger with playlists, and she likes to shuffle/random those lists, etc. Hardware wise I am running the HC800 as mentioned, the synology is the RS818+ and does not seem to work with Twonky - at least based on the list Twonky provides for supported Synology hardware. I do not want to buy another NAS but I am open to a streaming box in the middle if needed or other ideas/options.
  9. FYI I’m in Bergen too. Had 1-2 people come by and could never get a follow up. I use remote programming services. Good luck though and report back if you find a good one!
  10. Great! As with the others I’m waiting on the approval email.
  11. Just signed up too. Looking forward to trying it out! How does this differ from the splash tile generator found on the controller menu?
  12. how does the voice scene work? "Alexa, play voice scene kitchen" and the dot or input in the rack would play a predefined audio stream? Curious how native you can get with the voice command if Alexa reserves the play music for their own services as mentioned above
  13. Find an NVR that’s open. Dealer suggests lilin because it’s easy distribution thru c4. Get a man agnostic NVR. I use blue iris. You can use synology or other NAS with proper licenses is the phone system currently in c4 and you want to just add a camera or is the door phone not on c4? Does the phone intercom have SIP? What’s the hardware?
  14. Can’t speak for “hdmi quality” but my 8 year old denon is rock solid and is reliable. And it works with c4. Sound good is super subjective. Go demo some at a magnolia center or local shop. I did and I liked denon over pioneer, Sony and Yamaha but again that’s subjective Frys has a great deal on a denon 3500. That said the multi channel amp is the better tool here
  15. I find their tech support helpful. they have live chat feature I've used several times. Its not always super intuitive with their menus and stuff, but between live chat and the helpful and active user forums I've figured it all out
  16. would the hs300 allow for a "reboot" vs just toggling aka turning something off? If I had a modem plugged in or a switch plugged in could I reboot the modem or the switch? I guess you could send a command to turn off then have control4 send another command a few seconds later to turn it back on? this is all local so if the modem is down (being rebooted) the command to turn back on would work?
  17. Thanks as always So to quickly recap because there was a lot of back and forth: - Ethernet > Shield > HDMI > TV - TV > Optical > AVR - AVR just has speaker wires out to the speakers and the input of the Optical from the TV. - need to buy 1 Netplay License and 1 IRUSB for the Shield (well may buy 2 for the 2nd AFT I use in the VTX). 1) zones with just VRX and no AVR will still be in sync with the zone with the AVR (4 such zones without the AVR) 2) audio only zones such as dining room or kitchen - using cable box audio (RCA out of cable box to CMX) - will also be in sync with the TV’s using the VRX’s or the Shield? Important as kitchen and dining room are very close to the room with the Shield and when we host big sporting events we put audio in dining room and kitchen. 3) still have all the functions of PiP, video/app/text overlay, splash tiles, etc with the Shield. 4) gives me 4K locally at that TV only so use an existing AFT in the VTX for the other rooms Think I got it all and seems reasonable if the above is correct. Thanks again for the great support.
  18. Got it. Shield will do double duty? Thought vrx function would be the native android support and shield for streaming services but either was guess IrUsb and license are needed thanks again
  19. So put AF stick or shield into TV. Then run optical to AVR to get audio for that 1 source? And use my older AVR for the speakers? Would still need a vrx into the AVR or that optical cable from TV is sufficient for any audio to be played over the speakers? That optical would give normal Dolby codecs within 5.1? It’s a living room, not a theater i am looking at shield or AF stick for Kodi purposes. Hence not just using baked in Sony apps.
  20. Thanks @videostorm its probably cheaper to buy a 4K encoder vs a decent 4K avr? Any reason you prefer the localized AVR option? Do the encoders pass along any type of audio codec? I have an older Denon 3311ci. It’s 8 or so years old but works fine. I have a 3.1 setup with 0% chance moving past 5.1 one day. So don’t need Atmos or 11.2 or something crazy. But would a new AVR help with newer audio formats I could still enjoy with 3.1?
