  1. So this morning two Sirius channels (coffee house, and symphony hall - which are presets 1 and 2 in every room's control driver and assigned to keypad buttons through the house) stopped working - other presets are working ok (presets 3-5) but these two aren't. I'm not seeing that there's a driver issue (I'm using sirius xm driver version number 105) or a channel change. Is anyone else having this issue? Here's the debug log after preset 2 selected: --> 07/11/22 22:09:34.121 ReceivedFromProxy: 5001 DEVICE_SELECTED ----PARAMS---- idRoom = 50 location = symphonyhall <-- 07/11/22 22:09:34.879 : Resume successful --> 07/11/22 22:09:35.108 ReceivedFromProxy: 5001 QUEUE_INFO_CHANGED ----PARAMS---- QUEUE_STATE_TIME = 105 QUEUE_INFO = 0 QUEUE_STATE = PLAY QUEUE_ID = 10054 <-- --> 07/11/22 22:09:35.111 ReceivedFromProxy: 5001 QUEUE_MEDIA_INFO_UPDATED ----PARAMS---- QUEUE_ID = 10054 QUEUE_INFO = 0 MEDIA_INFO = <mediainfo><deviceid>100002</deviceid><queueid>10054</queueid><streamid>0</streamid><source>2</source><mediatype>SONG</mediatype><mediatypeV2>GENERIC_MEDIA</mediatypeV2><medSrcDev>851</medSrcDev><queueInfo>0</queueInfo><stationid>http://hlspproduction-primary.mountain.siriusxm.com/r/sessionid/7558e8a1-92bf-46cb-a710-f06cef40fc25/AAC_Data/symphonyhall/symphonyhall_variant_small_v2.m3u8</stationid><album/><artist/><title>SiriusXM</title><channel/></mediainfo> <-- --> 07/11/22 22:09:35.115 ReceivedFromProxy: 5001 QUEUE_STATE_CHANGED ----PARAMS---- PREV_STATE = PLAY QUEUE_ID = 10054 STATE = PLAY PREV_STATE_TIME = 105 QUEUE_INFO = 0 <-- --> 07/11/22 22:09:35.124 ReceivedFromProxy: 5001 QUEUE_MEDIA_INFO_UPDATED ----PARAMS---- QUEUE_ID = 10054 QUEUE_INFO = 0 MEDIA_INFO = <mediainfo><deviceid>100002</deviceid><queueid>10054</queueid><streamid>0</streamid><source>2</source><mediatype>SONG</mediatype><mediatypeV2>GENERIC_MEDIA</mediatypeV2><medSrcDev>851</medSrcDev><queueInfo>0</queueInfo><stationid>http://hlspproduction-primary.mountain.siriusxm.com/r/sessionid/7558e8a1-92bf-46cb-a710-f06cef40fc25/AAC_Data/symphonyhall/symphonyhall_variant_small_v2.m3u8</stationid><album>Classical Music</album><artist/><title>Symphony Hall</title><channel/><genre>U3ltcGhvbnkgSGFsbA==</genre><meta><audioFormat>MPEG-4 AAC</audioFormat><sampleRate>44.1 kHz</sampleRate><bitDepth>32</bitDepth><channels>2</channels><bitRate>255986</bitRate><audioQuality>Radio</audioQuality></meta><img>aHR0cDovL3ByaS5hcnQucHJvZC5zdHJlYW1pbmcuc2lyaXVzeG0uY29tL2ltYWdlcy9jaGFubmVsLzIwMTgwNzI1L3N5bXBob255aGFsbC0xLTMxLTAwLTI3MHgyNzAucG5n</img></mediainfo> <-- --> 07/11/22 22:09:35.140 ReceivedFromProxy: 5001 AUDIO_URL_SELECTED ----PARAMS---- QUEUE_ID = 10054 QUEUE_INFO = 0 ROOM_ID = 50 STATION_URL = http://hlspproduction-primary.mountain.siriusxm.com/r/sessionid/7558e8a1-92bf-46cb-a710-f06cef40fc25/AAC_Data/symphonyhall/symphonyhall_variant_small_v2.m3u8 <-- --> 07/11/22 22:09:35.148 ReceivedFromProxy: 5001 QUEUE_MEDIA_INFO_UPDATED ----PARAMS---- QUEUE_ID = 10054 QUEUE_INFO = 0 MEDIA_INFO = <mediainfo><deviceid>100002</deviceid><queueid>10054</queueid><streamid>0</streamid><source>2</source><mediatype>SONG</mediatype><mediatypeV2>GENERIC_MEDIA</mediatypeV2><medSrcDev>851</medSrcDev><queueInfo>0</queueInfo><stationid>http://hlspproduction-primary.mountain.siriusxm.com/r/sessionid/7558e8a1-92bf-46cb-a710-f06cef40fc25/AAC_Data/symphonyhall/symphonyhall_variant_small_v2.m3u8</stationid><album>Classical Music</album><artist/><title>Symphony Hall</title><channel/><genre>U3ltcGhvbnkgSGFsbA==</genre><meta><audioFormat>MPEG-4 AAC</audioFormat><sampleRate>44.1 kHz</sampleRate><bitDepth>32</bitDepth><channels>2</channels><bitRate>255986</bitRate><audioQuality>Radio</audioQuality></meta><img>aHR0cDovL3ByaS5hcnQucHJvZC5zdHJlYW1pbmcuc2lyaXVzeG0uY29tL2ltYWdlcy9jaGFubmVsLzIwMTgwNzI1L3N5bXBob255aGFsbC0xLTMxLTAwLTI3MHgyNzAucG5n</img></mediainfo> <-- EDIT: I tried logging out and back into my account on the driver which only screwed up the favorite numbers everywhere - and it did not help on these two channels. Really don't know what's going on here..... EDIT 2: Trying to play these channels from within C4 app and directly selecting them causes the channel to not play - but others do - and all channels are working to stream directly from the sirius app itself (those that are and those that aren't working in c4) - so this feels like a driver interface with their systems issue. Also, FWIW, removing Sirius favorites in control 4 app and re-adding in room control driver as a preset doesn't work. Can anyone else confirm whether their native C4 sirius xm can play either of these two channels? That might confirm whether this is on the server end or our system....
  2. Appreciate everyone weighing in here - lots of good ideas to consider to solve this....I'll give it some thought and play around - thanks again!
  3. Any ideas on how to authenticate a user and limit TV time? My wife asked if there's a way to have C4 require our young child to enter a code to watch TV then shut off the TV after an hour? This seems like a doable request but I'm not sure it is because I'm having trouble solving how to identify a user through a Neeo or TS to Control4. My first thought was to use the access agent (which I haven't used before) but this is really limited and would be annoying to have to enter a code throughout the house to start a media session - there doesn't seem to be a way to create a code just for the child and just for the room with the tv they watch. I looked at the Identity agent but that seems specific to the mobile app and our child doesn't have a mobile device yet so it doesn't fit here. Am I missing something - is there another agent or way to do this? Only other ways I can think of would be to use an experience button or physical button (like a lutron pico) that they would have to select before turning on the TV - but this isn't as seamless as having a pin code prompt in the den anytime the watch menu is selected. Another way would be to have the TV automatically pause or turn off when it has been on an hour but that's annoying if my wife and I are watching something on our own....
  4. Thank you @cdcllc good to know I'm not the only one - I'll try swapping with a non-engraved and see if that makes a difference to rule out other aspects Thanks @RAV I'll examine of pinch points good to know @South Africa C4 user - appreciate it. The faceplate may be part of the problem that's a good point. When you say you bent the legs slightly do you mean the little projections off the sides going back with the hole that clicks over the bump and serves as the axis for the button on the keypad? Will report back once I've had a chance to test some of these idea - appreciate everyone's suggestions.
  5. Just installed engraved buttons on all keypads. Out of many buttons a couple we have noticed don't "click" when you press the button. They will still fire when pressed but you don't get the physical feedback of the click when pressing so you're not sure if you pressed it properly. I believe the issue is limited to the top button (I have identified 1 keypad dimmer, and one keypad with this issue) - with the keypads in a 5 button with up/down configuration. My question is whether this is a known issue or if I've somehow installed these incorrectly? Is there anything I can do to get the button to click?
  6. Us too!! Excited about this one! Looking forward to color wheel finally for hue and LIFX!
  7. Exactly same issue for us. Using iOS FWIW.
  8. We have similar 400 amp service into two 200 amp primary distribution panels (that feed other sub-panels) both 200 amp primary distribution panels have their own 20KWh generator (no solar yet sadly). The way I do it sounds similar to how @South Africa C4 usersaid he used to do: in our case our rack UPS has a relay in the back that can close or open if the line power goes out. So I have that relay programmed to do that and wired into a contact sensor on an IOX for C4. This works perfectly for detecting an interruption in power - but there's not a way for C4 to distinguish between whether power has been restored by the utility or the generators since in either case the relay returns to original state once the UPS detects line power again. For us this isn't that bad because I get a message from the generators that they've kicked in. That being said, I would love it if the Kohler system had a C4 driver would be a nice extra. I'll have to explore this modbus idea.....
  9. I totally agree with you @Amr - I solved my issue by switching to Twonky as my DLNA server. It points to the same Plex music folder but it seems to be more stable that the Plex DLNA implementation plus, as you said, it supports search which has been a big plus for the family. Love Plex otherwise but for DLNA implementation with C4 Twonky has been a great upgrade.
  10. Thank you @alanchow - I've just sent my information through the contact us page on your website too
  11. Very cool - thank you for that detail! Sounds like a great approach!
  12. We could absolutely use this too at our house - but in our case the critters are a heard of deer that we see every day. Very scenic when they’re around lawns or property but not good for gardens near the house. This tech looks amazing if it works this well - like exactly the level of detail that would be amazing for C4 to bake into a new DVR line. Simple motion events are just useless if you’re going to use them for triggering events - like sprinklers, lights, gate, etc - and notifications mostly. If someone (looking at you @msgreenf or @alanchow ) could write a driver for this for C4 that would be an incredible addition to the platform!
  13. I don’t know about the Berto option. This could be interesting if the LIFX servers go down. What do you need to use the Berto LIFX driver? Do you have to run a raspberry pi to make it work?
  14. I keep losing connection to our Plex server's DLNA server through the My Music DLNA connection. Favorites for music there keep breaking and the server isn't able to be browsed. Under properties, DLNA server, the plex server is selected and server online says true. DLNA server selector is blank though and nothing is listed there in the dropdown. Looking at the debugging log after I say rediscover I get: ----PARAMS---- ACTION = DlnaBeginDiscovery --- 04/25/22 16:55:41 : SSDP discovery socket online LUA_ERROR [id: 739][name: My Music (DLNA)][file: MyMusicDLNA.c4z]: [string "Lua Code"]:160: attempt to index global 'Devices' (a nil value) 04/25/22 16:55:51 : SSDP discovery socket offline 04/25/22 16:58:41 : SSDP discovery socket online 04/25/22 16:58:51 : SSDP discovery socket offline LUA_ERROR [id: 739][name: My Music (DLNA)][file: MyMusicDLNA.c4z]: [string "Lua Code"]:160: attempt to index global 'Devices' (a nil value) SSDP discovery socket appears to be the problem? Keeps cycling between on/offline This was working very well before - anyone having this problem? I'm using all unifi and had had UPnP turned off but turning it on didn't make a difference...... UPDATE: after activating the synology dlna server I can see that DLNA server in the server list and switch to that and seems to work properly. I wonder if there was a plex update that broke things?
  15. Well, in the vein of smart home clouds shutting down: Apparently LIFX's parent company's going into receivership - LIFX could make it out or go under according to this article and as reported on the IoT Podcast. Hopefully someone will buy them and keep it going, otherwise, I wonder if the LIFX driver I have could be modified (or a brand new driver purchased) that could allow direct control like the Home Assistant integration allows. Any word on that possibility @alanchow or @Andrew luecke? I have a bunch of their nightvision bulbs around the exterior of our house because they're the only bulbs I could find that look normal but provide a lot more IR for the security cameras at night.....
  16. This question of whether unifi plays well with C4 has been discussed at length in various threads you can search here to read up - but my impression is that this might have been an issue in the past but isn't now and many many dealers (mine included) only install unifi with C4. We have all unifi and C4 and it works together flawlessly in our experience.
  17. 2.5 gig is probably overkill at this moment in time - even needing fast file transfers. Mine is all cat6 cable and gig connections and I never max that out on any client regardless of how intense the file transfers etc. That being said, huge fan of ubiquiti equipment. They have a Switch Enterprise 48 PoE (USW-Enterprise-48-PoE) that has 48 2.5g POE ports plus 4 10 gig ports. Their USW-EnterpriseXG-24 has 24 10gig ports which may be the closest thing you want - pricey but if that's what you want they can provide it (currently on backorder though I think). They also have 6e access points now.
  18. Thanks Ari - curious what your best practice is if you have two+ buttons on a keypad that do need to use up/down? For instance (as is my case) you have a music button but also lamps or shades (where lamps and shades can use the up/down to adjust lamp brightness or shade height). How have you found is best for people? My thought was if music is playing then up/down should control volume always, unless the person just pressed another button, in which case up/down would be linked to that other button in their mind (ie wife listening to music, then wants to adjust the shades, etc) - but then after they haven’t interacted with the keypad for a bit up/down reverts to volume control because that’s logical to control volume when music is on. So that was my thought with the delay function - which I’ll now implement with variable programming as you guys suggested (appreciate that feedback)…. But maybe people use something like the keypad enhancer or keypad audio drivers from Domosapiens for simplification or additional function? I haven’t purchased these because it is hard to see what they add that can’t already be programmed (other than press/hold and led flashing which are cool)…….
  19. Thank you @Neo1738 - appreciate you responding so quickly. I can certainly handle it that way - that’s a good solution and will redo with that. In thinking about it, maybe I misinterpreted the meaning of the “track last button” option under the up/down keys device properties. I thought that meant that if there’s a press of a button it would follow that button’s behavior (as programmed under the programming tab for tracking the associated actions for up/down) - but when I do it the way I explained above that doesn’t work when the press is via programming - even though it works when you physically press the button and the programming of the up/down tracking is specific to that action (ie music/lamps/etc). But maybe “track last button” means something different?
  20. Trying to program keypads and need a little help here. So I have the up/down buttons set to tracking. This works great if the “music” button is single pressed and you can thus control volume. My issue is that if a different button is later pressed, say “fireplace” then the up/down follow the “fireplace” button now instead of the “music” button. Use case of course is you single tap “music” to start music, then later press “fireplace” to turn on fireplace; but then later you want to adjust the volume of the music playing. So I tried to solve by programming the following: when “fireplace” pressed IF room in listen mode -delay 15 seconds -press the music button But this doesn’t do the trick - does anyone know why this solution doesn’t work and do you have the right solution to solve this?
  21. Interested in this as we’re planning to install a gate too in the future. Our gate will be able 850-900 feet from the house. Your cellular router/vpn idea is very creative but I would worry about the reliability of that connection (ie vpn disconnects, etc) and reliability with a gate is essential in my mind. Also seems like it would be better to use an access control (gate keypad/intercom) that can be fully integrated with C4 since you have C4 in the house. If you use a point to point solution as others proposed or trench a cable and use a DS2 you can do all that. Additionally, you could monitor sensors (ie gate open/closed; breaker box open/closed; etc). As an example, our plan is to trench fiber and power out there, have a remote UniFi switch off that fiber to a DS2 with keypad, and cameras; i/o expander or Z2IO down there for monitoring sensors; and UPS to ensure no power interruption to all).
  22. Rather than use VLANs I’m experimenting with firewall rules. Specifically, for devices that are locally controlled but are safer not connecting to the internet I assign a fixed ip and create two rules to drop all incoming and outgoing wan traffic to and from that device’s address. For example, my Vera hub (for zwave integration with c4) talks to the EA5 via telnet locally and doesn’t need the cloud or remote connection so I’ve created two rules to drop incoming and outgoing wan traffic to that device. For devices that need the cloud for integration I could do the opposite - drop local traffic to and from a device. That seems fairly secure doesn’t it? Wondering if anyone sees this as a good or bad idea?
  23. I hope it doesn’t stay unique for long and C4 adds in - I really think there’s a huge market for this in the near future. Maybe not quite there yet but in a year or two likely. Grid power just getting too unpredictable and unreliable for demographic primarily served by pro integrators.
  24. I was just wondering the same thing myself. The Verge gave it a great review. Would be a nice option at some point to replace my Schlage zwave locks I’ve integrated with C4 through Vera.
