AdamT
So I am building a small "road kit" for my company. Can anyone recommend a good kit/case maker? I want to put something together that looks decent and is strong. Will have an HC250, music bridge, couple speaker pts and other small stuff. Cant remember the name of the place we got the last ones. ThanksA
msgreenf
Pelican cases are the best!

cdepaola
Pelican and if ya look around severalCompanies that do custom foam. I've done this on numerous occasions for my rental and staging company. Only a few case makers id trust with my projectors. RyanE
Pelican is what Control4 uses for our custom demo kits as well. They're not 19" rack mountable / mounted, though, so might not be to your needs. RyanE
CFUG
I used Gator for rack computers when I was working... Went to Korea & back several times.
AdamT
Thanks guys. I have some good info to go off of. I am actually leaning towards this because of the looks but might have to find a pelican for transport.
cdepaola
From someone who has a substantial investment in cases and has gone through lots of options you do not want to carry a case like that around. Those are studio racks and not meant for transport. You can also look at someone like RoadReady, they make rack cases specifically designed to stand up to transportation and have similar build to what your looking at minus the wood. http://store.roadreadycases.com/dyn_prodlist.php?k=154269
AdamT
I agree it isn't the most practical BUT here are the core issues:1. Has to be set up so that everyone from sales guys to customers can walk up and touch things.2. Has to look good because it will be on a show room floor, trade show floor, customers homes and businesses and so on3. Has to have all the gear mounted, speakers, lights, controller, bridge, so on So as much as I love pelican and the other "strong" cases they don't look the best. I have been working with mobile gear and such for a long time so I know about the damage, theft, loss and things that I will run into but need something presentable. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. We have 11 stores, 30+ sales guys, the gear is delivered and set up by our install crew and then there are the customers. So it has to be easy to set up and run. The running isnt the issue. Set up is. I have found that even if you color code things, people somehow get it wrong.... Make sense? cdepaola
I absolutely get it. I just don't think some light colored wood on a studio rack is gonna make a sale vs a travel rack case. I also think your sales guys are gonna hate carrying that thing and end up breaking the case or worse the equipment inside. You can also get custom rack travel cases made to your specs. The "pretty" wood isn't going to do anyone any good if it's a pain to carry or it's broken. Best of luck though trying to figure something out. thecodeman
If you're concerned about looks put one of those Road Ready cases inside a pretty looking wood cover. You could make one that screws together if you want. But I have to agree that most of that pre-made wood stuff is sketchy for travel.
ILoveC4
"Sketchy" is being too kind. It is meant to sit on your living room. Those will be trashed in seconds. The alternative is to build a proper rack an just be prepared to slap it on a pallet and FedEx it wherever you need it. Personally I'd go with a Pelican case and a photo book to show how good proper racks look. That wood stuff sucks anyways. Sent from my Droid MAXX via Tapatalk. Cyknight
http://www.middleatlantic.com/Lecterns/L5.htmSingle bay kit (1 rackwith), 1.5 or full 2 racks space wide option with a custom presenter panel cut for some lights/lightswitches and a small speaker or 2, tablet mount for a 'pad' with MyHome. Pricy, not really small but fits in a truck, van or even SUV an is ready to go out of the box once you set one up (well I assume they can connect a powercord). Can even connect to a TV or two for some A/V assuming they can plug in an HDMI cord and manually turn on the TV for a show or use a small monitor mount that they have if the sales guys can handle mounting a small tv on it. They also provide millwork drawings if you have/know a millwork specialist to have the exterior custom-made, giving you a few options to install speakers etc on the frame itself. GoGo Delicious
We only use Anvil Case's. Everything is rack mounted (shock mounted) and ready to go. We open the back and plug in 1 power cable. No setup, no issues and potential clients are pretty impressed. In fact they have tamped up with LoJack and can track your case if it stolen OR removed from a designated area.
