Google has released its IFTTT channel for its Home service & Pixel service (called Google Assistant).

https://ifttt.com/google_assistant

As such it will be compatible with our IFTTT driver.  To make it easier for people to understand how to program it i will be writing up a document over the coming days to talk about how to setup phrases (with numbers and text ingrediants) to work with Control4.

Looking at the triggers it appears that google home will be awesome.  The flexibility is exactly what we want.  No more restrictions on phrasing.  We can use whatever combinations of words we choose.  Multiple aliases built in!  It's time to preorder a google home.

Yep.  It looks like its going to shit all over Alexa for integration to the home.  I'm writing up a document at the moment with examples on how to program it up in Control4.  Will put this up on my webpage and blast it out via email and social media early next week.

Hopefully Amazon steps up and makes Alexa even better... Competition is a great thing!

Any word on whether Google Home will be available outside of the US?  I am guessing no, at least not initially, given Google's history for product introductions.

Not at this stage.  Having said that though the Google Assistant will work with Pixel and that is available in the US, Australia, Canada, UK and Germany

BTW Alan.. Anyone can get Google Assistant right now on android and ios. Install Google Allo

I tested this very briefly today, and don't believe that the commands you type to the google assistant in Allo transfer to the assistant channel in IFTTT yet.  but again, it was brief.

It doesn't work with allo. It requires a pixel or home

i have been playing with it all day and man it works like a champ. Using it for lighting scenes, zigbee door locks, garage door, thermostats, turning rooms on and off to specific sources with the string variables in Alans how to. Definitely worth the read on his tutorial

Does it respond quickly to your voice commands? What's the average time between finishing your command and it being executed?

Anyone know if Google Home works in Canada?

From the tutorial Alan created, it looks like you can say specific commands like "OK Google, lock the front door" instead of the Alexa "Alexa, turn front door lock on". Which will be awesome!

Is there a way to use a custom wake command? One of my clients really wants voice control but wants "Jarvis" to be the wake command.
