tcwalker5
One of my triad 8 zone amps failed. Of course it failed a few days after the warranty expired. I'm very surprised that the amp failed as it is rarely used. The problem was first noticed when a hissing noise started through all the speakers. Unplugging the amp made it stop (of course). Plugging it back in, the noise was gone but eventually returned. The lights on the front of the unit were flashing on and off. A few questions on how I should proceed. 1) are these amps known to be faulty? 2) is repairing an option? 3) is there an alternative that is highly recommended (and hopefully cheaper) since this is just an amp and not really part of the C4 automation? pkkaiser
I have had two of the previous gen C4 Amps and one triad fail in my own house. So I would say their quality control blows. Sucks for something that expensive
c44me
Of all the AV equipment have owned over many years, the Control4 controller(s) is the only to ever fail
pkkaiser
3 amps 1 audio matrix 1 leaf 6x6 no other rack items have failed...common denominator = C4. But too invested to switch out

Your dealer should contact c4 rep. They are usually helpful
tcwalker5
At this point probably 6 months. Couldn’t get the dealer to come to house due to covid and I was away prior to that. What is a typical grace period for their flexibility?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

tcwalker5
Lost my second amp this week. What are some more reliable alternatives to the 8-zone amp from Triad?

Are you using all 8 zones? The reason I ask is there are generally more options for 6-zone/12ch amps. I use an AudioControl D4600 sometimes when I don't use 'the other brand' amps. They come with a 5 year warranty and have some extra IP config features.
tcwalker5
yes, I do use all channels (non-bridged). I have plenty of rack space and power so I don't mind going less dense if that works better. I'll look at AudioControl. Thanks.
chopedogg88
Yes AudioControl and Parasound are two of the best Amp makers. If you wanted something less expensive, Sonance has a 12 channel, 50 watt per channel Amp. PM me I can get you pricing if interested. Crustyloafer
This would be my "go to" as an alternative.https://www.anthemav.com/products-current/model=mdx-16/page=overview

I just really, really, hate all-in-one amps and matrix, you lose the flexibility a separate matrix provides.

I keep hearing very good things about it, Anthem ARC per zone, can create 2.1 channel zones as well. Quality amplification too.
