0 Gary Leeds UK
Go for HE ~ it allows you programme your system ~ only thing you can not do is add new products also get the rename driver which allows you to change the name of your devices both are very useful South Africa C4 user and JamesPB
0 eggzlot
You also get a year of 4sight with HE so really it’s $50. If you use it 1-2x you have paid for it

0 Cyknight
WHEN -> THEN is really only for people wanting to do some very basic things - like scheduling a light, or have something happen when a door open - that wouldn't be comfortable with the more 'complex' interface of HE. Note that even HE is not 'code programming' as such at all, it's still a graphical interface to achieve the underlying code, though it uses terms that will be familiar to a true coder. 0 Cyknight
Oh and 'complex' is written like that for a reason, it's not really all that complex, but still something that a lot of people can't (or don't want to) wrap their heads around. HE allows for far more detail in what you can achieve, details on IF statements etc, opens more events (triggers) to program off of. I'd also say that if you want to do something more complex (ig turn on these lights when a door opens, but only if those other lights aren't on, but only after sunset, unless it's summer) it would be far easier in HE than in WHEN-THEN due to how it's structured, so if you want a bit 'more' it will actually be easier to use HE. On this basis, Pro is even more “complex” than HE.
0 JamesPB
Thanks very much for the guidance above. My 4Sight trial expired. If I subscribe on at https://customer.control4.com/4sight will I then find a download for Composer HE somewhere in my account pages or does my dealer need to be part of the process in some way? 0 msgreenf
4sight doesn't give you composer he. But composer he comes with 1 year of 4sight. Composer HE = one time fee 4sight = annual fee JamesPB

0 booch
One other comment on When-->Then: it's prohibitively slow for certain things (I assume due to the cloud roundtrip). For example, assigning a button to a light in Composer HE might react in 250ms, while the same programming in When-->Then has a 1s lag. It's noticeable... I have never used when then, but I thought it simply dumped things in to Composer as programming. I suspect that the delay is a result of When Then using the on single click event rather than the on press event for connecting to a light... but I am guessing. 0 Cyknight
The when-->then is really primarily good for things like scheduled lighting and that sort of thing. It isn't bad, and a nice way for people to dip their toes in, but nothing compared to what you can do with HE

How useful is Composer HE now we have When >> Then?
What features does each have that the other doesn't? What could I do/not do with each?
Is it worth having both or else which one?
