Wish voice worked on mine. Wish mine would stay on the network.

I, too, am still not able to get voice (Apple TV) to work reliably.  My network issues have improved A LOT with recent firmware updates so my Halos (touch and hard button) are now reliable as remotes, but voice super flaky / basically non-functional.  We have an open support case that has been escalated, but still no resolution.   I have 17 Apple TVs and, even though C4 insists that there is no limit, as part of diagnostics, we removed all but one from system.  That worked.  Then added one more.  Works.  Added two more.  All broken.  So that seems somehow relevant?  IDK.  Frustrating.

I'm on Ubiquity but, again, connectivity seems fine now and voice DOES work with one or two Apple TVs in the system.

whats your network? have you tried a different solutions for wifi like using wpa2 encryption and a simple password without symbols? hows your wifi signal in the room

Tried everything my pro recommended+. Tried TP-Link Deco ax55, Unifi AC-Pro, and Optimum’s cable modem/WiFi 6 router. Halo is in the same room as the AP. So signal strength and pwd complexity are not an issue.

Since voice doesn’t work wish I had an old reliable 260 back

factory reset the apple tv and make sure that you use an ios device to configure the apple tv. Make sure it is connected to the correct home kit account. Then follow the setup in the control4 app once more to connect your home kit account. Then connect the control4 driver. Maybe reboot the apple tv once more. If that does not work control4 tech needs to get logs and review what is happening.

"Then connect the control4 driver." Is this something I can do or do I need Ari to do that?

We're headed out of town this weekend, if it is still on the network when we return I'll give this a shot.

Added an AP to the garage. Thinking my wife's car triggered this, as it has more radar sensors than the highway patrol. Edit: Actually, different band... but I think when this happens it disrupts the 2.4ghz band -- and probably screws up the Halo? Maybe?

2.4G only used 40MHz bandwidths, so this error must relate to 5G--- so prob not related, assuming you have remote connected to a 2.4G-only SSID.  As an aside, setting 5G channels to 160MHz is generally not worth it for real-world reliability and throughput, so prob best to set it to 80MHz.  I have found 160 to be good for benchmarks but not everyday use.  Will depend on how many APs you (and your neighbors) are running.

Do you live near any airports?

I had a similar issue at a clients and found out it was the local airport jamming 5G whenever the radio tower was used.

The TP Link routers can automatically change both channels and channel width. As said above, the 5GHz channel width should usually be set to 80.

https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2292/

Some others have noted changing channels, and that can be due to radar interference. That is a separate function from the router's channel optimization. Forced changes due to radar presence is mandatory, there is no way to avoid the channel changes.

It would have to be from biz jet weather radar, but I don't know what bands they use. They point at us when they are turning final to the airport.

  • 2 weeks later...

My Siri on my Halo remote suddenly stopped working for one TV.  I have refreshed it and the HomeKit bridge seems to be working.  All other functionality is fine -- just no Siri when I press voice (though the Remote thinks it is configured/says Speak to Apple TV).  Any ideas?

Experience with Halo so far has proven 5G is not reliable on the Halo. Since I began connecting them on a separate SsID and on 2.4 it seems to perform better and stay connected to the network. I’ve already had to reboot the voice coordinator, because voice stopped working a few weeks ago. Since then it has been working flawlessly.
