  1. You really need to get over your original doorstation not working in OS3. I'm done with this thread - as done as the old DS is.
  2. Probably not, but they wouldn't clearly have stated the exact opposite. What fact? That's speculation, as we've got no information to go on at this point. I get it, it may cause more companies to be exposed to the option, and yes they could become competition. But even if we follow that line of reasoning, that doesn't mean that much would change for the 'dealer group' as a whole at all - it could just weed out the worst, and introduce new capable people. Quite the opposite of the doom scenario some seem to want to paint on here that it would ruin C4's reputation. But it's all still just based on speculation. It's a prediction based on lack of information - doesn't mean you may not be correct in the end, but so could a fortune teller at the fair. Any small business owner should. Always.
  3. True, but we're rather short on details, and speculating on a single sentence of information In other words, either the dealer is completely incompetent, lying (maybe because he doesn't want to update any systems yet, though why they wouldn't just say so....) - or we don't have the right information. I can tell you I have two clients that I indeed CAN'T update to OS3 because of a driver that is using an old proxy, for which there is no alternative (yet). Again I'd just be telling the client that exact information, but we may be jumping to conclusions by assuming that one sentence is all there is to the story.
  4. I'll still take the DuneHD older players over anything, but just as hard to find.
  5. Wow what a quick jump to conclusion there. But yes it should be added to OSD, and the apps. It's a BIG item on the dealer side of things too.
  6. EA1 is FAR more powerful, and CA1 is too (and no nav), than an HC250, and there are some other factors such as built0in storage. Oh? Routers with built in pro are still limited in some ways vs hub pro And you keep forgetting you're not forced to update to OS3 - any more than you are forced to update to the latest phone, latest game console, latest TV and so on.
  7. Only possible 'proper' thing I can think of is that you have a driver that can't update...
  8. ? Is it still around? Vine is too isn't it?
  9. I'm not sure it does, at least not in the way ring and doorbird do. Someone from C4 may have to chime in, but I believe the intercom app uses vpn access, not 'in-cloud' connections. But he was specifically talking about local connection. Regardless, I can tell you this, I get the ring within 3 seconds at the slowest I've noticed at home, and the only doorbells I don't catch people at the door with are the amazon delivery guys taht drop the box down, take the picture then ring the bell and walk off
  10. LOL. But yeah I use several sr-250 remotes on OS3, not a problem at all.
  11. If at all, then yeah that would probably be the better route to go.
  12. This is a forum for end-users to get help if they are having issues with a device, get information on all kinds of available features in C4 and how to use them. I'm not insulting you, you just don't like the answers you're given.
  13. Hikvision only allows a single device to connect to the mjpeg stream at a time - there's unfortunately nothing to be done about that - though if you have a T3 10", that should be grabbing the h264 stream - you may need to get the driver checked, there are several versions around.
  14. Oh yes, those old dimmers are long gone. Look, if you want to keep beating the dead horse, go ahead. But for me the original DS has been a lost cause for too long to bother with it. Do I like telling people to 'just' get rid of it? Certainly not - but I've got more important things to worry about than this particular device.
  15. Well there are...somewhere. I even think C4 published it themselves at one point. Where to find it is another matter at this point.
  16. We've been doing without remote access forever. Is it essential? Of course not. But there are several items of bakpak that are very nice to have. -Ability to set and change wifi names and paswords remotely (sure, they're not the only one) -run system manager from the router (if director is down - I've had two instances where Iw as able to get a system up and running remotely because of it) -Monitoring of IP devices other than C4, as well as zigbee devices And yes I know BakPak isn't the only option, but it's darn nice to have it all packaged (pun intended) into a single 'brand' on site that just works. Again, I'm not married to it at all, and we're not sure where it will fit in just yet, but there are certainly appealing advantages
  17. Sorry don't remember the cost off hand, but it works great. http://www.chowmainsoft.com/kodi-xbmc-full-driver-for-control4
  18. Not in all feature sets, which is the issue
  19. Ouch, I don't disagree, though using WHITE is generally best avoided as mentioned, because any one RGB color being a bit brighter can throw off the colour completely.
  20. Maybe because it isn't as good as it gets? At least for the world of C4 pfSense first and foremost is software, not hardware. The biggest issue is that there's too many variables, too many things that could be set wrong. It's just plain overkill. Less is more sometimes
  21. ? What do you mean can't control then anymore? They released an updated driver months ago, and there's IRUSB ... I mean unless I missed something recently - I rarely come across a fireTV to begin with. I'll take a Roku over anything else anytime, followed by an NVidia Shield... As for a C4 driver for Kodi, there's is an excellent 3rd party driver, but I couldn't tell you if or how well it'll work on the device you already ordered........
  22. Oh the things I could buy today. No-one is arguing that that suck. But the same could be said for LOTS of in-wall doorstation options, In the last year alone I probably had a dozen DSMinis installed at houses that had some form of old intercom solution that was built into the wall. This is in fact why I don't advise doing in-wall installations for these things to begin with. In the end, you're beating a dead horse. The original DS is long overdue to be replaced, regardless of why exactly, it was a beast that needed to be taken down. Sad, sure. But that doesn't change the outcome.
  23. Or is liable to be sued for insider trading violations. But heya Wapp! Good to see you can still turn random facts and speculations into what you seem to believe is a coherent argument for something completely unrelated. You know, you'd do great on Ancient Aliens.
