documenting this is tedious.. i've come up with a few examples of how you can use the IFTTT driver with Control4 but will add more as i go along with the documentation. So not only does it perform the same (if not better) functionality as the other Amazon echo drivers and geofencing drivers but I just realised it also performs a lot of the functionality that my notification suite does as well. that plus all the new stuff like connected car, smart appliances and more. its been a while since I have been excited about a driver (I develop them day in day out) but this one has so many possibilities.

So I managed to upgrade the technology in the driver so that it will react instantly. Mitch has been working with me on this driver giving me ideas and testing it for me. He mentioned that my latest version can respond to his Amazon echo within milliseconds of issuing he voice command! whats great as well is that there are no limitations to the amount of commands you can program in and is super simple do program if you have composer HE! anyway I just need to write up the documentation for this driver but expect it to be available for purchase next week.

Funny enough it wasn't my intention to integrate alexa (we don't get them here). same thing goes with geofencing. Didn't intend to make a driver that does it. one of the many benefits of integrating IFTTT you pretty much can now do a lot of stuff with the one driver and much more. eg my house was reading out tweets (via our advanced announcements driver) when people mentioned my Twitter handle..... Until my wife freaked out and told me to remove it.

Cool so with the Amazon Echo integration you can trigger on a specific phrase (no limit to the number of phrases from what i can see), when a timer goes off and when your alarm goes off. Also works well with the Assistant.io personal assistant for ios/android/windows phones/tablets.

This means that you can now tell any device connected to IFTTT to do an action and vice versa. You will need to program Control4 and IFTTT to react to the actions performed but can be extemely powerful. Some ideas that pop to my head are. I have a driver coming that will give you bidirectional control. Driver is complete and is currently being tested and documented.

its hard to say without knowing your home. Running cables or adding a zigbee 2 ir both achieve the same result but depends on how hard one is over the other. Also note that if you want to know what the current room temperature is you need to add in one of the supported temperature sensors. My recommendation is the Axxess Motion Sensor (battery operated) as this provides motion sensing as well as temperature in the room.

The driver is designed for control over the basic functionality common on all infrared controlled HVAC systems. As such specific functionality like plasma, air purification and swing modes cannot be added in. The driver only fires a single IR code to tell the HVAC system to goto a specific mode, setpoint, fanspeed. It does not communicate with the HVAC system apart from that. Your dealer will be able to do some programming so that the systems always match (eg if one system changes to heat the other one changes to heat). That portion is upto your dealer to program under the composer actions.

Chowmain - Daikin Wifi Split System Driver for Control4 HVAC Split System integration has always been painful. As these systems are traditionally IR based dealers usually either integrate presets or learn every single code combination in. This makes it extremely cumbersome for Control4 dealers to source a reliable HVAC product and in many countries Control4 dealers do not even bother with HVAC integration because it is just too hard. Luckily Daikin has released its BRP072A42 Wifi module for their Daikin Split HVAC units. This is an extremely cost effective making 2 way integration of HVAC to Control4 with simple plug and play functionality. Icons are embedded (hard coded) in the driver and are not dynamically changed. You cannot hide the Roku nor the Plex app UI. What you are experiencing is normal. If you do not want to see the Roku UI you could possibly install a dedicated Plex HTPC running Plex Home Theater or Plex Media Player. Though having said that you will still see the Plex UI.

Back when I used to work for a distributor we needed to hook up via a TTL cable and flash it manually. there is also a factory reset button which if held down for long enough does a reflash but given that you already swapped SD cards it's unlikely to work.

Dealers will not be able to fix this. From memory flashing red wifi means that the boot loader failed to boot the OS image. The only people who can fix this (if it is fixable) is control4 or a distributor (it you are international).

In the past 3rd party developers could register via 4store. Now from my understanding the only way to get access to development material is if you work for a dealer or distributor or you are a hardware manufacturer who wants to certify your product in Control4.

Our sister company is a Sony distributor. The last time i got them to check the driver was a few weeks ago to ensure that it launches Plex (which it does). I just checked again to be sure and the drivers that we updated are still current. Firmware upgrades shouldn't break the code in most cases however the last one broke because of a major API change. It is unlikely that this will happen again (at least anytime soon).
