Sweet driver....I used it to write a macro that blinks my lights and to play a cash register "cha-ching" notification sound every time my wife charges something on her visa card.  It seemed like a good idea, until the strobe effect caused me to have an epileptic seizure. I need to find better output....

This driver is awesome... did find a small bug though ( I think)

if you make a typo in your username/password for pushover.net in the driver properties, you get a LUA message saying :
it would be helpful if it said that you made a mistake on your username/password

I'd say that would be the first step.
PS, there are multiple ways to doing all the above that would allow you to place the actual switch in ANY location - ie put in the most critical location - or NOT right where the LED blinds you as you get out of bed....but you'd certainly need that new electrician.

msgreenf reacted to alanchow in Chowmain - IFTTT Maker Driver adds Amazon Echo, Geofencing, Push Notifications and more to Control4
IFTTT (an abbreviation of "If This Then That") is a free web-based service that allows users to create chains of simple conditional statements, called "recipes", which are triggered based on changes to other web services and products.
IFTTT integration into Control4 allows Control4 to control any of the products or services integrated into IFTTT and have those products also control Control4.
This expands the integration of Control4 to support numerous functions that it natively does not do. We have listed a few examples of what integration can bring to Control4 below and have also stepped through programming some of the ones we feel are useful to a lot of people. Note that this is a small list of things we liked. There are a lot of other things you can do currently (with lots more coming in future to IFTTT) so we suggest you check out the channels on the IFTTT website.
We are keen to hear about what cool things you have done with the driver. Let us know via twitter, email or forum post.
    FAQ
What can i use this driver for?
These are some examples of what you can achieve with IFTTT integration to Control4 via the Chowmain IFTTT maker driver.
    Outbound Examples (Control4 > IFTTT)
Control4 can send SMS’s via your Android phone (IF app must be downloaded to the phone)  Control4 can call your phone number and say a message (for security alarms, smoke alarms and other emergencies).  Control4 can save data about the events in your home in google docs or dropbox.  Control4 can save data about the events in your home to IFTTT’s daily or weekly email digest.  Control4 can send emails out without 4sight or 3rd party driver  Control4 can send push notifications out without 4sight or 3rd party driver (using pushalot, pushbullet or pushover)  Control4 can send Skype messages  Control4 can send Google Glass notifications (with Message, Image URL and URL fields).  Control4 can send notifications to your Android wear device (requires IF app installed).  Control4 can send your BMW (Connected Drive Compatible) a message on your car’s front screen display (120 characters limited)  Control4 can find lost items (needs tags) or phones (call your phone).  Control4 can send your Tesla (EVE enabled) a message (with subject, message and message type fields) on your car’s dashboard  Control4 can turn on or off your GE Smart Appliance and more.  Control4 can tell your Android phone to turn on/off Bluetooth or wifi (might be useful when you’re leaving or coming back home).  Tell the world via Facebook what your home is upto (might not be a good idea).  When batteries are low on your Control4 sensors add a reminder to your IOS reminders app.  Inbound Examples (IFTTT > Control4)
Amazon Alexa (Amazon Echo, Tap, etc) can send commands to Control4 via voice recognition to do things like turn lights on, play music, house off and more.  Assissant.ai can send commands to Control4 via voice recognition  Control4 can read out stock prices or notify you when they raise or lower (requires Chowmain Advanced Announcements Driver)  Control4 can pause your music and videos when you answer your phone (android only)  Control4 can read out tweets when someone mentions you on twitter (requires Chowmain Advanced Announcements Driver)  Control4 can detect if a specific person has entered or left a room/zone using beacons.  iOS Location and Android Location (via the IF app) can tell Control4 when you are approaching or leaving home.  Send a warning to Control4 when something has been picked up or moved (needs wireless tag)  Your BMW (Connected Drive Compatible) can tell Control4 when it is entering or exiting an area.  Your EVE enabled Tesla car can tell Control4 when it has arrived home, is leaving home or on the way home.  Your Automatic, Zubie or Dash enabled car can tell Conrol4 when you have turned the car on or off within a certain area.  Your GE, LG and Samsung Smart appliances can tell Control4 when it has been turned on, off, if for example an oven timer is done, if there is a leak in the dishwasher, if the filter eeds cleaning, if the dryer cycle has finished, if the fridge door has been left open for too long,  Your Nest Protect smoke alarm can send Control4 smoke emergency, warning and carbon monoxide emergencies  Your Netatmo Welcome can tell Control4 when a specific person, known person or even an unknown person has been seen or arrives home (facial recognition)  Your Roost Smart Battery can tell Control4 (via the announcement agent) when its battery is low (Great for smoke alarms).  Control Control4 via SMS or phone call to IFTTT.  Have Control4 read out your meetings (including subject, body & location) on outlook 365 calendar or Google calendar 15 minutes before the meeting (requires Chowmain Advanced Announcements driver)  If the temperature (via weather forecast/conditions) changes in your area tell Control4 to do something.  Your Android phone can tell Control4 when it has connected or disconnected to/from a specific Wifi network.  Change the colours of your RGB LED’s to your teams colour using the ESPN channel when the game starts.  Any other cool things about this driver?
This driver actually replaces alof of functionality that is native to Control4 but requires a subscription and also implements products and services that alot of other 3rd party paid drivers integrate. As such in certain cases its actually cheaper to utilise this one driver for integration over multiple services/products. Once the driver is installed all the programming can be done via Composer Home Edition.  Perfect for Enthusiasts. How does it work?
Control4 will send IFTTT triggers to IFTTT based on programming done by the Control4 dealer. IFTTT will send commands back to Control4 via a 3rd party service called pushover. When Control4 receives these commands the dealer needs to program Control4 actions to correspond to the command sent. Please read the installation PDF for specific details.

So not only does it perform the same (if not better) functionality as the other Amazon echo drivers and geofencing drivers but I just realised it also performs a lot of the functionality that my notification suite does as well.
that plus all the new stuff like connected car, smart appliances and more.
its been a while since I have been excited about a driver (I develop them day in day out) but this one has so many possibilities.

So I managed to upgrade the technology in the driver so that it will react instantly.  Mitch has been working with me on this driver giving me ideas and testing it for me.  He mentioned that my latest version can respond to his Amazon echo within milliseconds of issuing he voice command!
whats great as well is that there are no limitations to the amount of commands you can program in and is super simple do program if you have composer HE!
anyway I just need to write up the documentation for this driver but expect it to be available for purchase next week.

Funny enough it wasn't my intention to integrate alexa (we don't get them here).
same thing goes with geofencing.  Didn't intend to make a driver that does it.
one of the many benefits of integrating IFTTT you pretty much can now do a lot of stuff with the one driver and much more.
eg my house was reading out tweets (via our advanced announcements driver) when people mentioned my Twitter handle..... Until my wife freaked out and told me to remove it.

This means that you can now tell any device connected to IFTTT to do an action and vice versa. You will need to program Control4 and IFTTT to react to the actions performed but can be extemely powerful.
Some ideas that pop to my head are.
Use Amazon Alexa (Echo, Tap, Dot and more) to control Control4.  Tell Control4 to turn specific devices on when you are coming home or leaving home via Android/IOS Location or via one of the supported connected cars (BMW, Tesla, etc)  Have Control perform actions to any IFTTT channel when you security system arms or disarms  Control your GE Appliances (Dishwashers, Dryers, Refrigerators, Washers, etc)  Control your LG Dryers and Washers  Control your Samsung Air Purifier, Air Conditioners, Refrigerators, Vacuums and Washers  Have Bttn, Blink and other DIY electronics integrated  Integrate your wearables. Haven't achieved your daily goal? Get Control4 to notify you using the announcement agent (or Chowmains Advanced Announcements driver)  Use Assistant.AI's virtual assistant to control your home.  Use Android Wear to control Control4!  and soooo much more.

Control4 has already determined the licensing requirements for Pro.
Sadly, that requirement is currently that you become a Control4 dealer.

msgreenf reacted to alanchow in Chowmain - Daikin Wifi (Split HVAC System) Driver
Chowmain - Daikin Wifi Split System Driver for Control4
HVAC Split System integration has always been painful. As these systems are traditionally IR based dealers usually either integrate presets or learn every single code combination in. This makes it extremely cumbersome for Control4 dealers to source a reliable HVAC product and in many countries Control4 dealers do not even bother with HVAC integration because it is just too hard.
Luckily Daikin has released its BRP072A42 Wifi module for their Daikin Split HVAC units. This is an extremely cost effective making 2 way integration of HVAC to Control4 with simple plug and play functionality.
The Chowmain Daikin Wifi driver integrates the BRP072A42 module and provides full 2 way control over temperature, HVAC mode, setpoint, fan speed, swing direction control. We have also added additional functionality to the driver to handle presets and scheduling internally. Setup of hardware and driver should take you no more than 30 minutes once you get the hang of it.
    Features
Configurable HVAC Modes – OFF, AUTO, HEAT, COOL, FAN, DEHUMDIFICATOR  Configurable Fan Speeds – AUTO, SILENT, LOW, LOW/MEDIUM, MEDIUM, MEDIUM/HIGH, HIGH  Setpoint Control  Swing Direction Control  Temperature Feedback  Ability to add Presets  Ability to perform Scheduling  Frequently Asked Questions
    Why is this product exciting?
In Australia and New Zealand (and other countries) HVAC integration has been hard because HVAC companies do not utilise the honeywell based wiring that most smart thermostats like Nest, Control4 and Honeywell use. Split Systems have been extremely hard as traditionally they only offer IR or RF based remote controls. In the past we have integrated these systems by learning every combination of IR code however this is extremely time consuming. Temperature feedback from the room has to also be provided by a 3rd party device making the solution costly.
Now with the BRP072A42 module installers can now easily integrate Daikin based Split HVAC systems into Control4. The module is extremely affordable and will not void Daikin's manufacturer warranty on the HVAC system. This module is even backwards compatible with older systems. So dealers can now revisit old customers with compatible Daikin HVAC systems to upgrade their home automation system and integrate their HVAC system.
This really changes the HVAC game.
What HVAC systems can i use this driver with?
The BRP072A42 module is developed by Daikin for their Split based HVAC systems. The module will also work with any systems with the S21 port on the indoor PCB. Some Daikin Split Systems (Like the Daikin Zena) also comes preinstalled with this module. This driver is only compatible with the BRPXXXAXX and the BRPXXXBXX models.  It is not compatible with the BRPXXXCXX models.
NOTE. This module will not work with Daikin Ducted, Cassette or VRV Indoor HVAC systems. For those HVAC systems see our Daikin Skyfi Driver.
Can i control fan direction with this?
Yes our driver allows for swing control. This is accessible under the Extras Tab.
Can i do schedule the HVAC system using this?
Yes our driver has built in presets and scheduling.
Where can i purchase this module?
The module can be purchased from authorised Daikin dealers. The model number is BRP072A42. If you cannot source one easily then we recommend purchasing one online from Peninsula Air Conditioning
Why do you only support OS 2.7 and above?
This driver requires functionality that is only available in OS 2.7. As such this driver will not work in earlier versions of Control4 OS.

    LOL.
Not that I'm disputing that as such - that is in part because it's relatively new, and a lot of industries/people with different backgrounds have tried to jump on board (especially early on) - and got 'burned' by lack of understanding, ability and/or resources.
There's a lot to know about this industry and everything it touches on, and then on top of that there's financial aspects, retail, service, marketing and 'simple' business savvy. The individual who can do all of that at once is extremely rare if not non-existent. Even divided among a few people to start a company with that isn't easy to find.
I simply don't see how any 'company' can be a one-man company even in the beginning and hope to succeed.
If you truly desire to start something in this business you have all my best wishes and then some - but be warned that in recent years C4 has been quite strict in it's requirements especially in established markets. It will not be easy to acquire a license.
Talk to the local rep as has been suggested to get a feel for what you need to know and do - but understand that your best bet is to work FOR a dealer for awhile (doesn't have to be C4 as such, and be warned - 'awhile' is not going to be a few months) - but at the same time understand that most dealers will have little desire to have 'part-time' programmers/system designers, in no small part because it will take time and money to train people - and they will want to see a return on that investment.

    This isn't likely to happen.
First of all, online training is limited (actual certification of base level will require an actual course on location)
Second - that isn't free, with travel cost etc involved so it's doubtful anyone would likely 'just sign you up' - going back to the return on investment.
Third - It's fairly unlikely to find a dealer who's going to 'sign up' someone based solely on a request to do so on a public forum
Fourth - I don't know all the details by a long shot, but I'm thinking that would be against any dealer/distributor agreement.

The best advice I can give you? Learn the ropes about AV, automation, and networking before opening a shop and charging money to do it for other people. This industry is less "born talent" and more "baptism by fire". If you can, work with/for another company who does it in some form or fashion even if they don't do Control4, you'll learn a lot and your future clients will appreciate it.

In the past 3rd party developers could register via 4store.  Now from my understanding the only way to get access to development material is if you work for a dealer or distributor or you are a hardware manufacturer who wants to certify your product in Control4.

In order to use this, all you need to do is open Photoshop (I was using CS5); and go to:
File --> Scripts --> Browse, and Browse to the location of the script.
It will then prompt you to Open your Pre-prepaired Square PNG (Min size 140x140)
Choose the Location to save the output
    Done!

    Kodi (Sideloaded onto my FireTV)
    ITV Hub
    Demand 5
    Red Bulll TV
    BBC News
I was surprised at how easy it was.  I also customised a photoshop script I found online that at the click of a button will take any square PNG file (More than 140x140), and create the experience*.png and device_*.png files for your project.  This essentially means that you can make a driver in under 5 mins (Including figuring out the App ID, and finding an image online.

What is the best way to share these - Should anyone want them?
