Basic door bell sounds are available online aplenty, or online text to speech for wave files, or roaring lions, passing helicopters, "Someone's knocking at my door", "Would you ring my Beeeeeeeeehehel", "Jingle Bells".....you get the idea

For my place i just use IFTTT with the announcements agent and that just works for doorbells and motion (motion i use for turning my porch light on).

When doorbird rings Take snapshot Start timer doorbell When timer doorbell expires load snapshot The BIG question will be IF there's enough time between Control4 seeing the ring and the echo announcement playing - if there isn't the snapshot will simply save the ring announcement playing and load that...

You know you can save this via device variables right? Save a device variable into a variable and then set the device variable afterwards. This has always been the case with Control4 even since the early OS 1 days.

I don't know... I've been to that shack at the top of Snowbird, and it's pretty chilly even in summertime...

dcovach got a reaction from c44me in Wifi extender?
I don't know everything there is to know about Wifi extenders but they are basically used for amplifying an already weak signal, which yields horrible throughput. Wired mesh networks can maintain good throughput but will still cause problems if not setup properly to hand off when roaming between waps.

The point of having Wap's strategically placed is so you can walk around the house/property, all the while your mobile is on the same wifi SSID, and get good throughput speeds.
You can configure a 2nd router to work in your situation but you'll have to change a few default settings, like turning off the DHCP server and maybe the firewall and you'll also have to play around with the transmission power settings (if it has that adjustment) or else your mobile phone might connect to the garage wifi first and stay connected while you're sitting in the living room. Your throughput will be horrible. It'll be annoying to have to manually switch to the wifi network in the house.
Properly configured waps will ensure your mobile is connected to the best one seamlessly.

Whatever the invoice says.
Unfortunately I don't get to know what my mechanic really paid for the parts and how much he paid the employee to put the parts on my car.....

dcovach reacted to RyanE in Irrigation Controller for 2020
I've been thinking of making a simple Raspberry Pi-based controller for my flowerbed watering, since it's a short, daily schedule.
I'm out of zones on the Rachio, and need a couple more, so a Pi-based 4-relay controller would free up 3 additional zones for my sprinklers.
That said, it won't need a lot of features, other than scheduling (which I can do with command-line cron, for that matter).

There is a trick to turn on IP control (SDDP). It's in the control4 driver documentation. PM me if you need help.

dcovach got a reaction from msgreenf in C4 HC250 System Drive Clone
Control4 recommends an 8 or 16GB micro sd. AFAIK, it's not necessary to clone the original. The controller will format the new one and prepare it for use. Once complete, you should be able to connect to the controller with Composer HE and load your previous project. Test it out and keep the old one just in case.
* You really need to have the same version of Composer HE as your controller OS version.

Those zones (sensors) still need to be bound to a sensor driver. You can't do that in Composer HE
