  1. There are people (end users and tech support) out there that like working with "off-shore" teams?
  2. This will be terrible for all customers. Everyone knows it but they have to try this model because everyone else is doing it.
  3. you would be better off buying a CORE 1, CORE LITE or even an EA-1 and using it as the main controller with the existing CA-1 being placed somewhere else to help with Zigbee coverage.
  4. The main reason is you just cant integrate it into Control4 very well. There is some distributed audio solution out there that uses Echo's in each room going into an amp that I think is really neat but trying to use Alexa as an audio source for Control4 just isnt a good idea.
  5. Can you see if the Picos have the ability to use BUTTON_LINK in the connections?
  6. I think what has been shown is that the only way to make money in the TV distribution business is to try and charge people for things they dont watch. Cable, satellite and now the streaming companies do it because they have to. What seems to be happening is they are finally starting to get rid of all these channels that hardly got watched or just basically show reruns of old movies and shows all day (MTV, CMT, TV Land, etc. dont make any content). And the cable companies seem to be saying "hey our customers shouldnt have to pay for both these "live" TV channels and then have to pay the media companies to watch those same shows on demand with that companies streaming service". For example the deal Spectrum struck with Disney where you get access to Disney+ when you have Disney through your cable company. This was supposed to be what TV Everywhere was but of course Disney and the other big media companies wanted to have their own service like Netflix. They for some reason thought people were going to keep paying for cable and sign up for their streaming services with the same content.
  7. I think Roku allows for those extended calls for certain apps like Disney+ where you can have it search for a specific movie or something. I dont think YTV has this yet. Hopefully in the next few years they start adding this functionality to these streaming services to make them more like cable boxes. I thin YTV just added a previous channel button. I think awhile back someone said Spectrum on Roku allows you to be able to use the number keypad to tune to a channel.
  8. With Josh you are able to say something like "Tune to channel ESPN on YouTubeTV"?
  9. im a little skeptical if this can work. this issue is that there are no API's available to make it happen.
  10. So are these new drivers worse than the original ones? I only ask as I wonder if they added the ability to do button links with the picos with this driver.
  11. I dont think anyone on here would recommend using Alexa as an audio source. That is not a conspiracy it is the truth; goes for all apps really. Everyone wants their UI to be what people interact with. Spotify doesnt like people using Sonos to control their music. Sonos doesnt love (they accept it) people using Control4 to control their product. Only company that seems to not care is Lutron.
  12. You are not going to get that here as only dealers are allowed the software. @msgreenf I think its time to put a FAQ or a "Before You Post" type sticky post that explicitly states to not ask for the software. Everyone has their opinion on if end users should be allowed the software but having people come on here and their post is asking for the software is not helpful.
  13. Anyone have any experience using the Inovelli light switches https://inovelli.com/ . One of the neat features they have is Smart Bulb Mode that keeps power going to smart bulbs and allows the switch to be used with a hub as a keypad that can of course turn those lights on or do other things. This seems to be a really nice feature. Does Control4 have something like that yet? These are Zigbee compatible so maybe one day these could be added to a C4 controller if/when that functionality is allowed.
  14. There is a good chance you don’t need a separate streaming device and can use your existing EA-5. Just don’t know enough about your system to say.
  15. I have no idea if the Control4 ELK driver works for the new E-27 https://www.elkproducts.com/e27-alarm-engine/ but it looks pretty nice.
  16. I use the vista 20p with the 4232CBM and it has all the integration you could ask for. I dont think the driver is obsolete.
  17. I personally only use Sirius and Amazon Music but i am pretty sure Pandora and Spotify are the 2 top streaming services.
  18. Thanks. I am using the original caseta pico driver and not the new leap driver so it may have been added.
  19. Say I want Button 1 to Dim Up and Button 2 to Dim Down what commands for the TP-Link should i put in the Button 1 Press and Release and then the same for Button 2 Press and Release?
  20. This happened to me last night. I know it doesnt make sense but the MAC address the hopper uses will change what MAC address it uses for network access. It will change between the MAC address for the top ethernet, bottom ethernet or the MoCA connection.

    24" FireTV

any models you would suggest? need one for a playroom.
  22. Nice. Good to hear when solutions like this happen.
  23. CORE 1 has a separate audio card for the digital output this time. CORE LITE is the only one that does not. With the EA line there was no difference in RAM between the 3 controllers but the EA-5 had a little better CPU than the 1 or 3 which had the same CPU. On the CORE line it looks like all 3 have same CPU but 5 has more RAM so yes that could make a difference.
