  1. do you know what the command is? im looking to press an up or down button on a pico to be able to dim up or down the light. the ramp up/down slowly dims it up or down.
  2. its crazy that the guy keeps logging into to site.
  3. I dont think Josh is worth it either. I said in another thread that something has always seemed off about them. That said, their concept of not having their own RF network, lighting, IO, music, etc. to support and relying on 3rd parties makes the most sense for a new home automation company.
  4. if i was starting a new home automation system/company this is probably the architecture i would use. only create controllers, remotes and touchscreens that communicate TCP/IP. Rely on 3rd party systems for all the lighting, climate, video, audio, IO, etc. We will see what happens. I wouldnt think the existing HA companies are too happy about them entering this space after they built integrations with them when it seemed they were audio only.
  5. In terms of processing power it should be as good or better than an EA-1 though, correct?
  6. can other controllers be added to a CORE Lite system running the project?
  7. i can t remember if this has been asked but can does the driver have the ability to dim down/up?
  8. if you are going to keep the Araknis router and switches i would use Ruckus AP's instead of Eero. I would think your dealer would support that.
  9. Just wondering if anyone can tell me the difference between the using the new Lutron LEAP drivers vs using the Legacy Lutron Caseta drivers that were released like 10 years ago. Any features or anything that make it worth redoing things? Thanks.
  10. im sure it can be done but im guessing someone would have to make a custom driver for it. i dont think there is a generic modbus driver for temperature control.
  11. What router is Access Networks using? Is it the Sophos XG?
  12. having a dedicated handheld remote without buttons that needs to be used without taking your eyes off the device you are trying to control is absolutely silly. dedicated tablets that arent meant to be held in your hand for long are fine but a remote that is being used to browse a big screen needs to have physical buttons.
  13. Since c4 and snap are on the outs I don’t think I will get flamed for saying I think Josh.ai is a real weird product. Always felt like they paid trade websites and publications to say how great the product is. It’s voice control. Alexa can do the same thing. Maybe Josh has a few extra features but nothing worth the cost. voice control is not a standalone product. It’s a feature of a product. It makes sense that they are trying to become a control system.
  14. I think I have asked you this before but what B&O systems do you have? Aren't most of their systems single room based but can be tied together? I havent really seen a matrix or the like from them. I would like to see the Join feature be added to the Room control driver.
  15. That join command is a nice feature. I have a Russound MCA-C5 and just looked through their RIO API and they dont have anything like that. Would be a simple way to get audio quickly in a room. Does Control4 have any kind of command that finds any existing Listen sessions that a room would have access to to join?
  16. i open my garage door from control4 all the time. either to let someone in or if i forgot to close it at night, etc. one of the things i use most with c4. might just be how my house is and how i let people in.
  17. I've probably said this before in here but a colleague of mine used to say "Standards are like toothbrushes. Everyone agrees they are a good idea but no one wants to use someone else's"
  18. I dont think Belkin dropping out means the whole Thread/Matter project is doomed. If Google, Apple or Amazon left then yeah its probably over. That also doesnt mean I think the project will ultimately work either. I just dont think Belking dropping out means anything. If I was that group I would be trying to get Asus and Netgear to implement it into their routers. those seem to be the most popular consumer networking devices out there.
  19. And when I refer to wifi access points being the "hub" of the smart home it is really just being the equivalent of a zigbee controller or something. you would not do any code, scheduling or routines of devices in it. it would just be a conduit for things like Control4, home assistant, home kit, etc. to do all those kinds of things or you could just control the devices directly through the access point with a smart phone app.
  20. Like you said this is expected and I'm sure Belkin wont be the last but losing Belkin is not going to be what "kills" Matter/Thread/whatever it is called. It being overly complicated is what will probably make the adoption hard to come by. Every home that would potentially be a "smart home" is going to have Wifi access points. This is where the hub of the smart home should be for matter or whatever. There is no reason for a thermostat, appletv or light switch to be a thread router/hub/whatever they are calling it. You should be able to enroll a device through an access point using zigbee or something like that and then you can control it using any compatible app or home controller. This initiative should have come more from the network people as they would have no dog in the race. they could care less what light or thermostat connects to it.
  21. Anyone using edgerouter x and edge switch from ubiquiti? I see lots of people mention unifi but not always those products. Those seem more like what I want since I don’t want all the features of the UDM Pro.
  22. I remember people would always say "I hate paying for 300 channels when I really only watch about 10". I would always say you are really only paying for those 10 channels, the rest they just give you for free. People who werent into sports though always kind of got screwed because those channels were the bulk of the cost of cable. The model is definitely a mess right now. Stuff is scattered everywhere but there is more content (some better some worse) than ever. In the sports world you can watch basically any college team (even lots of high school teams) on ESPN+ or other streaming apps. This was unheard of before the early 10s. Where I think the cable and internet companies could actually benefit customers is they become the sign in service for the apps. You could go through Spectrum and choose which streaming services you want and then if you have spectrum internet it automatically logs you into that application when you select it through AppleTV or Roku. Youtube, Apple and Amazon kind of do this now with through Channels service. Is this ever going to be cheaper or more cost effective? Of course not. Those companies arent going to give up that revenue they worked decades for.
  23. I think the issue is that Roku wants to take a cut of advertising revenue or wants these streaming services to advertise within the Roku ecosystem. I cant remember exactly what it was but I know the issue isnt just that the services want you in their app.
  24. I have to disagree somewhat. It has never been easier to find old quality content through streaming. I basically dont watch anything made before 2016 now (kidding, sort of). What I think needs to be figured out is there is not a need for both broadcast TV and cable/satellite TV.
