lots of people on this forum love Unifi for routers, switches and Wifi Amplifers (more appropriately known as Access Points - APs).
Some will steer you towards Pakedge as that is the "certified" C4 solution (C4 owns them)
    Others like Luxul.
Ask 5 people and you will get 6 answers.
Install what your dealer knows best and where his/her comfort level is because they are building and supporting it.
I have a mix - I have a Mikrotik router (still new and learning it), Cisco switches and Unifi APs.
Just about everyone will tell you to steer clear of consumer big box store stuff from Netgear, Apple, Linksys, Trendnet, etc.  Not to say all of their stuff is bad but just in general to steer clear.
C4 also recommends using unmanaged switches vs managed switches - yet lots of people on this forum have managed switches and they just dumb them down.

I have mine setup like this but there is a z wave blind driver for percentages. I just didn’t want it that way.

Ditto on the combination of Balis+Vera hub.  That's what I have, ordered them from Costco but sometimes they are cheaper there, sometimes at Lowes, etc.  You just need your dealer to install the right C4 driver and you are good to go.  And yes, they can be controlled on a percentage basis from C4.  See screenshot.

I believe the somfy/Bali branded blinds from Lowe’s, Home Depot or jc  penny’s will work with the proper somfy hub and or driver. I did some research awhile ago and will try to find some old info.

    Hi Alan,
around 4 hours ago the driver worked - use it to get a photo when someone rings the doorbell. About 3 hours ago someone else rang the doorbell and when I clicked the link I got a 502 bad gateway error.  I now get that error on older links I click on too.  I am using your hosting service.  Are you experiencing any outages?
    thanks

HC250, HC800, T2, T3 touchscreens do the popup.  iPhones... no, you can't do a 'popup' on those.  I'm looking to see if we can use the Push Notification for these, but didn't get it into this release.  The 'icon' will show on the iphone.

worked like a charm.  I just had to go back in and put in my API key and User Code or whatever and saved those in C4. Not sure if those two fields went back when moving from Houselogix > DriverCentral or another reason, but once I re-input it and refreshed it started to work again
    Thanks for the support!

Its all under the hood in the pushover and old chunk.io driver (which we've renamed chowmain image host).

Sorry for the late reply.  Didn't see this post.
Forecast.io and OpenWeatherMap are two different services.  Both of which provide similar functionality but one may be better for your application than another. The driver already returns these values The variable will return a number value of 0-100 The driver will only update the values (ie poll the web service) when you fire this action.  you can tie it into schedules, timers, buttons or whatever you want but regardless this action must be taken to update the values.

eggzlot got a reaction from sonoma_vw in Review: Holovision 400 series Door Station
Just to update my review from a few months ago:
Houselogix has updated the driver and Holovision  updated the firmware on their unit so now you can program against the press of the button on the door station.  I have this tied into Alan Chow's Pushover/notification suite, so when someone rings the door, I get a push notice with a photo of who is at the door.
Only drawback, when someone rings the door bell, the C4 touchscreens do not make a "door chime" sound, instead they make a phone ringing sound.  It is a bit confusing, as when someone rings the door, we instinctively look at our phones.  I am working on some programming that when the button is pressed, the touchscreens mute for 20 seconds, and announcements play in the house in various rooms (announcements being the sound of a doorbell).  It is not as "plug and play" using the touchscreens as I would like, but end of day I will figure a way to get announcements where I need them, and you can use the touchscreens to see and talk to who is there.
Lastly, Holovision is looking into some 3rd party SIP applications I found to make/receive SIP calls from off your network.  This would be helpful for when you are not home, but you can still talk to who is at the front door ala ring.com.  It may be a while until we figure something out and I can update this thread at that time.

For 2 years I've had issues with the drawbacks with the original C4 door station.  The latest version only addresses 1-2 of my issues, not all, and I do not like the form factor, or color, for the new door station.
My searches led me to Holovision.  They came to an agreement with C4 in 2014 to start producing a SIP Door Station compatible with C4.  The item and drivers were ready by fall 2015 and I've been testing them for the last few months and I am glad to say everything is fine and working as it should.
http://eholovision.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=249&Itemid=290 - that is the model I selected, size wise it is the closest to the original C4 door station
https://www.houselogix.com/shop/holovision-vio-control4-driver - driver for the SIP door station
https://www.houselogix.com/shop/ktc-hdi47-control4-driver-license - driver for the IP camera that is on board
Compared to the original door station by Control4, here are improvements I see:
The IP camera is on 24x7 and available to view in the navigators, etc (this is fixed with the new door station) Camera placement - this is not addressed with the new C4 door station.  With these Holovision units, you can move the camera left or right AND swivel the camera too.  It is a great way to get what you need in sight of the camera.  The original and new C4 door stations are lacking in this feature. Keeps the same shape as the original door station.   The new C4 door station is too modern/futuristic looking for my house.
The size of the faceplate is only 1-2'' bigger.  However, there is more "stuff" that has to go into the back box.  I worked with Holovision to try and retro fit a 400 series door station with the C4 back box but it is not possible.  2 options, use the Holovision back box (Which I did) or you can use the C4 back box with a specially designed Holovision bracket, but then you need to put the VIO/SIP unit inside your house and run extra wires and do a reconnections between the VIO unit and the door station and camera itself.  For me, it was easier to just cut out a larger hole in my siding and add a new back box.  If the VIO/SIP unit is in the back box, only 1 PoE is needed.  A 2nd small ethernet is needed to hook up the camera to the VIO but to give you an idea I am using a 6'' patch cable between the two.
Attached are some photos of the uninstalled unit to give you an idea of what it looks like out of a wall, the back box, the VIO unit, how you can angle the camera, etc
1st and 2nd photos show the rear of the unit and you can see how the camera is all the way off to the right and swiveled back to the left to get a full view of that area.  3rd and 4th photos are a straight shot and side shot of the unit with the back box attached.  the last photo is the VIO/SIP unit.  For example purposes, the blue cable is the PoE cable whereas the purple one is the one that attaches the camera to the VIO unit.  that purple cable is long, so when I did the install, I used a 6'' patch cable.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me.  This was purchased via a Beta test direct from a dealer.  Holovision does not sell direct to public.  So I am not sure of MSRP, etc so please do not ask.

I know they are just the distributor, but they are also the support center.  If there is an issue, though Alan is helpful and does answer some stuff here, he does ask for tickets to be open.  Matt discussed some issues with the VS implementation, turns out its on the VS side, not the kodi driver, but still if I did need support or basic troubleshooting (had Matt not found this out prior) I could see issues.  If I am going to spend a few hundred on drivers (not just Alans, there are 1-2 more I wanted) I want to make sure the distributor will stand by their product.  I already have 2-3 other HL drivers, and I've had other issues and same thing, very slow if any response.  The Rachio driver comes to mind (they built it, again different in this case, but support channels are the same from what I can see).  This is getting off topic on the thread, but just voicing my reasoning.

Also if you have Blue iris, the camera works perfectly with BI.  So you do not need the camera driver above.

C4 tstats arent eye candy, but if possible, get some wired in wall sensors.  That is what I do and my Tstats are in the basement and I have 4 wired sensors on the walls and you can barely see them.

Extra Vegetables actually has an example in their documentation on how to utilise our Advanced Announcements in their documentation so yes you can use it with Sonos.

You do not need audio outputs going into sonos from Control4 as Sonos will read the wav file directly.

    Definately possible for every zone.

eggzlot got a reaction from ajgaspard in Apple announces Homekit - Threat or Opportunity?
This is just an editorial type article but I agree with the point of view - its not a slam dunk since there are obstacles around non iOS users, companies not wanting to certify through more steps/different hardware needs, etc:  http://www.engadget.com/2014/06/03/apple-connected-homekit/

I think competition is good and if it lights a fire under C4 even better.  I know there is that voicepod thing, but if I could easily use Siri with some hacks to my phone to allow some voice control of my system, that would be great too.  Maybe C4 finds a way to tap into the SDK so we can have the best of both worlds.
