  1. Thx for this (and to the others). We've changed the latency profile to level 2 since we do have wifi enabled amps... and I also noticed that in the distributed serve config two of our wifi enabled devices (an ea1 and a triad) were enabled. Took both those off/out of the config. Shall see how this effects the buffer time. Much thanks.
  2. Thx. One zone / Triad One is the amp. Thanks for the info about the 3 seconds. Would love to hear from anyone using ubiquiti + triad equipment w/airplay.
  3. C4 system that has been installed for some time. Running latest OS 3.4.x / controller is a EA5. Nearly everything is wired except we have several Triad One's *wireless* in rooms without ethernet connections. Those are the rooms that we tend to do a lot of Airplay to. Each room has its own ShairBridge driver setup, unique broadcast name, etc. Network is unifi APs with Pakedge switches, pfsense router. Here's the issue. Starting playback from say an iphone using Airplay to the room takes a good 5-7 seconds before sound is heard. Sometimes that could be 10 seconds. Shuttling tracks forward/reverse, starting a different track, etc. also takes 5-10 seconds. It "feels like" given the network and hardware in play that is an absurdly long buffer time. Q - normal? if not, where can we start poking around to shorten the time between start and hearing playback? Thanks!
  4. Yes. But requires on-prem hardware of some sort while the likes of nextdns do the same thing but without the hassle of maintaining hardware/software. Of course, some still argue the value of that setup
  5. The days of needing pihole are gone. Just use a filtering dns like adguard or even better (more customizable) nextdns. Setup an account with nextdns (free!) and you can add blocking lists and more. Very good, quality, service. Then on your router / dhcp server, push out the nextdns dns servers and you are set. On your c4 hardware, use 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 for dns and you bypass the restrictions. Done.
  6. I’ve experienced the same. Tried putting all the echos on a IoT vlan and they never worked right. Sometimes music would play, sometimes not. Sometimes notifications worked, sometimes not. Same with responses. I spent way too much time trying to diagnose and getting all the traffic passed to/from the vlan. Eventually gave up and moved them to the primary vlan. Network architecture - pfsense router, ubiquiti APs, pakedge switches. Would love to hear if anyone actually gets this to work and how.
  7. I’ll echo all the above. Have probably 15+ on our network and they all work reliably. Only time they went out was because of a WiFi issue. For as little as $5 an outlet it’s impossible to beat for price/value. Note- each one does require an ip address so you can chew through IPs quickly. I’ve put all ours on a vlan and it works fine.
  8. First, congrats on owning a c4 home! Done right, you’ll come to love it. That was our journey - got into c4 when we bought a house w a c4 system already installed. Second, I hear you in the need to have your system done your way. Get it. If I were you, I would rethink my reluctance to having a monitored alarm system. It has real benefit that you should think about especially if the previous HO is still paying for it aka call your insurance company and you will probably get a reduced insurance rate having a monitored system! Finally, there are a zillion things you can have c4 do —like play a specific alarm audio file when a door/window opens and the system is armed— if that is what you really want. Find a quality dealer local or online (nope, not a dealer here) that will walk with you through your decision process and is willing to teach you what the system can and can’t do. all the best.
  9. I’ve used Amz music and Tidal and Spotify. Our preference is for Tidal as it has the tightest integration for programming. Aka I want a certain playlist when I turn the outside on…my kids want to choose a playlist from custom buttons in the touchpad… Tidal gives the most options and is most flexible imho. Haven’t used Pandora Prem so can’t compare to that.
  10. You didn’t say where you found and deleted the programming. From what you say, my guess is you have programming in a Timer. Go to Programming, then find your Timers. See if there isn’t one for the garage door.
  11. I’ve seen the single click trigger multiple movements before. It was/is worst inside the Apple TV+ app. One click to move down scrolled all the way down to the bottom. It is inconsistent and doesn’t behave the same across different apps (haven’t seen the behavior in say the Netflix app) and also comes and goes. I’ve found no rhyme or reason - or fix. But yes, do confirm it happens! ea5/latest os 3.3.3/4 Apple TVs all HD or 4K versions/using the Apple bridge.
  12. Actually what you are trying to do is ok and should work. Assumption: you have a newish ONT. The way Fios works is that the ONT pulls the IP so you don’t need any of their equip other than the ONT. That’s how we run it here - the ONT goes straight to a router. I have heard that not all ONTs have the eth port enabled by default. You might need to get Fios on the phone and ensure they have the eth on the ONT enabled. Make sure the ONT output is going to the wan port on the Araknis.
  13. Same thing happens w ours. 4sight works fine on the phones for remotely connecting. But- can not use when/then and can not login with the control4 Alexa skill. Errors on both. Has happened for years and gave up. Controller checkin is frequent. Cloud backups work fine to c4. Just those two things above don’t work. Fwiw we are on the latest c4 release.
  14. On an iphone, go to settings, cellular, and scroll down and find the Control4 app. Make sure the slider is set to On/green indicating that the c4 app can use the cellular connection. Any chance you have changed router/firewall/modem recently?
  15. Have a look at the linked thread - I’m using the cloud cover driver to control some light scenes based upon how much natural light is outside aka cloud cover. One of the tomorrow.io variables returned is a weathercode which would identify if it is snowing. This thread
  16. Have you changed (added, removed, upgraded, changed settings on…etc) anything with your network - WiFi especially? New or changed APs? New channels in use? New ISP? New router? I assume you’ve done a power cycle in all your components? For moving to os3 you could get there with your HC800 albeit not to the absolute latest version. But some older touch panels, security systems/drivers, audio components don’t work w os3 and I am guessing that is why the 10k for an upgrade. Those would need to come out of your project before upgrading. Did the dealer quantify/detail what was behind the 10k price?
  17. Maybe this will help somebody else down the road
  18. So those errors were a clue Figured this one out. Control4 was (somehow) turned off under Settings...Cellular... Just had to allow the c4 app to use the cell connection and it worked. Strange is that all our phones in our house all had control4 disabled on the cell connections. Hope this helps somebody someday. Make sure control4 app is On (can use mobile data) under Settings/Cellular!
  19. Emboldened with this new theory (only works on wifi connections) I setup mobile hotspot on a second phone and connected my main iphone w/c4 app to it. aka Totally off the internal network. Everything works! I get the global connection logo and can navigate the c4 app just fine. Cameras and all work. So I'm guessing the network which c4 is on is NOT the problem. Even using the same cell network isn't the cause. At the end of the day, 4sight is working but only when the c4 app sees a wifi connection - mobile connection directly doesn't work. This is interesting... when looking at the c4 app log while trying to connect via mobile/cell directly I see this: 2023-01-30 13:01:51.200-0500 [Info] [com.apple.root.user-interactive-qos] [ConnectionManager.swift:1368] > [C4ConnectionKit.Connection Manager] : Can do CELL: true 2023-01-30 13:01:51.211-0500 [Info] [com.control4.OldControlChannelClient] [OldControlChannelClient.swift:90] > [C4ConnectionKit.OldControlChannelClient] : Connection is viable: false 2023-01-30 13:01:51.211-0500 [Error] [com.apple.root.user-interactive-qos] [ConnectionManager.swift:1437] > [C4ConnectionKit.Connection Manager] : Disconnect and report error noNetwork 2023-01-30 13:01:51.211-0500 [Debug] [com.control4.OldControlChannelClient] [OldControlChannelClient.swift:152] > [C4ConnectionKit.OldControlChannelClient] : Received content 0 byte(s) - context: true - isComplete: true - error: The operation couldn’t be completed. 20. So here's something interesting. One of my vlans (for IoT devices) only gives internet access and no routes to anything internal. When I connect an iphone w/ the c4 app to that network I can access my c4 system via 4sight! aka when I look at the Settings/Connected it shows it is remote/4sight. Toggle off wifi onto a cell network and I get the spinning wheel while Connecting to SystemName. It eventually times out and doesn't work. Error: Unable to connect. Unable to establish connection to remote server. Please try again later. (408a) Thoughts??? Ideas?
  21. I'm on the 3.3.1 release and the web events driver works fine.
  22. I’m with you on that. My problem is (has been) diagnosing where that block is originating. My thought is that if I compare a working session log to a non working it would inform what might be blocking. Make sense? I’m open to other ideas. I’m also open to (once again) resigning to let this just not work.
  23. Fair points. That said, the same issue was happening on a off the shelf cisco RV router and no adguard home using cloudflare dns … Would somebody be so kind to send me/attach here their sanitized iOS c4 app logs for a successful remote/4sight connection? Settings…preferences…email logs … would love to compare what working logs look like compared to my not working connection. TIA
  24. Thx @bill I’ve struggled with this for a year and given up. On an ea5…os3 (latest release up to one week ago). Latest apps on iphone 14’s - no love with 4sight. Tries to connect and then times out. Granted, we run pfsense for all network routing and adguard home for dns. No vlans for any of the c4 equipment. Even changed ISPs (cable to fiber). Prior we had a cisco router and used cloudflare dns servers. I’ve even created a new c4 customer account and had the controller registered to that new account. The controller is checking in fine w c4 and backups/uploads a copy of the project weekly to c4. That all is fine. Just 4sight doesn’t work. And yes, valid 4sight on the new customer account. I looked into the c4 app logs some time ago and couldn’t find anything obviously wrong. My understanding is that the network topology is essentially iphone c4 app —> c4—>vpn tunnel->controller. Right? (Would love somebody to confirm this) If so - and given the controller is checking in correctly to c4–I struggle to see how network nat or dns would play here as culprits??? Welcome more insight from anybody who has had this problem and figured it out
