Dyson Link app connecting with Control4
cjh replied to htjunkie's topic in General Control4 Discussion
Check out https://voicemonkey.io -- I use this to execute alexa routines from C4. Essentially they provide an api that you can execute in turn calling one of your alexa routines. Setup the alexa routine to turn off your device. We use it around the house for rooms that may not have distributed audio but there is an alexa in-room. Say a kids room - hit a button on the c4 touchpad/app and you have the kids bedtime music playing. (and for a young kid that can't yet talk to alexa, they can press the bedside button and get their music, all from a routine) It's a pretty neat interface. We've been using for 6+ month and it's been solid. -
fwiw... I am giving up on this. Not worth the trouble. Thx for the suggestions on hyperv manager. Installed that and tried all sorts of techniques to set the default switch to a different network. Can't get anything to work. Got into the Android settings, too, and when I change the virtual wifi (virtwifi) settings it then doesn't connect to the internet (or local connections). Even tried to put my vpn app on to route through that and anyconnect wouldn't get setup on the android windows subsystem. #giveup. Was a lovely thought! Would love to hear from anyone who makes this work. fwiw... Used these commands after installing hyperv to try and set the default switch to a different ip... Get-NetIPAddress -InterfaceIndex (Get-NetAdapter -Name 'vEthernet (Default Switch)').ifIndex | Remove-NetIPAddress New-NetIPAddress -InterfaceAlias 'vEthernet (Default Switch)' -IPAddress '192.168.1.179' -PrefixLength 24 Set-DnsClientServerAddress -InterfaceAlias 'vEthernet (Default Switch)' -ServerAddresses ("192.168.1.1","8.8.8.8") ... This gets you into the wifi settings... .cd to ....android-platform-tools ./adb connect 127.0.0.1:58526 ./adb shell am start -n com.android.settings/.Settings\$WifiSettingsActivity

Has anybody got this to work *without 4sight*? We don't have 4sight right now and it won't connect without. Have got it running (yeah) on a win11 beta channel system. It logins and starts pulling all the properties but doesn't finish b/c requires 4sight. I'm guessing it sees the android stack on a different IP and thus assumes it isn't on the same home network. Any way to change the IP range that the android stack uses? Also, I tried adding the android IP CIDR to allowed networks but that didn't change the outcome. Welcome options from the community. Thanks!

Idea: Zigbee/Home WiFi based proximity switching...
cjh replied to JAY70's topic in Push the Envelope
The cinegration driver seems to be a bit more robust but I was able to get this working on the annex4 version. Neat. Will let this run for a few days and see how it goes. Thanks for the idea and prototyping. -

Would love to give this a shot. Could you elaborate more on the UDM driver you are using? Is this the annex4 unifi driver? Looks like a great solution and would love to try. Thanks. -
Choosing the right security camera

I have multiples of the amcrest IP5M-T1179EW-28MM and IP8M-2496EW-V2. They integrate w c4 and our amcrest nvr. Quality is excellent both day and night. -
Hi all - had heard once upon a time that the T3 screen is technically "on" even if it is black. I have ours black (unless being used) expecting that increases the life-span but if that isn't the case, I'll start using photo screensavers, etc. Is my understanding correct?

fwiw, if this isn't working for you, double check the lat and long values in the Properties screen. Also, the tomorrow.io api had a bug with cloud cover which got fixed today - so if this didn’t work prior, try again!

Try putting twonky on your nas. I have an asustor nas with twonky connected to c4. Works great and much better dlna integration than Plex.

Seeking either Axxess or Nyce motion detectors, prefer white. Probably one to start, might come back for more. Don’t mind used. I have access to the Axxess but looks like they ship from international. (Am USA based) if you have extra or used please pm me with what you have and pricing. Much appreciated.

Some routers are also POE switches... example (we have one in our basement) Cisco RV345 POE - https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/routers/rv345p-dual-gigabit-wan-poe-vpn-router/model.html

Hi all I'm shopping around for a smartwatch and wondering if anyone has C4 functionality enabled via their watch? If so, what watch do you use? I'm thinking voice commands via Siri or Google might work on a watch. Are there other means? Would be nice when - say I'm outside - to turn on deck music/lights, as one example. Would love to hear your experiences! Thanks.

I have a few standard aux keypads / c4-ka's lying around and picked up some of the Essentials switches (C4-V-SW120277). Do I have to use the Essentials keypad, C4-V-AUX, or will the standard c4-ka work w/the Essentials switch? From all the data sheets it looks like it has to be the essentials version... but... does the standard c4-ka work? Thanks

Per title, seeking a SnapAV / wattbox dealer that would be kind enough to help me to a RMA. I've got a faulty 700 series wattbox that is confirmed part of their recall (I called them and the mac is part of the recall). The nice gent with SnapAV couldn't process my RMA so seeking a dealer that would help me. THANKS in advance. PM me, please, if you would help. I'll give you all the info to copy/paste for the RMA. Thank you.

@BubbaDuck Thx for this! Easily imported this into my zabbix instance (latest on rhel) and working great. I ended up creating a new zabbix user on the controllers (adduser zbx) to separate out root from the zabbix account. Otherwise, used straight away. Thanks for sharing it!

Sure, sent you a pm.

@salum We run an all ubiquiti stack here (router=cisco) and have had zero issues. My 2ce on the lighting - go with c4. For the video distribution, look at Just Add Power. It’s expandable! Might just be what you are seeking. Many threads here on the topic. Search JAP. http://justaddpower.com/residential-implementation.html

I do it that way so I can turn lights on in the room w/ open win or door. Agreed, if push notification only you're right.

fwiw, I have the same panel and am doing #2 so I know that works. For each window am using a window contact sensor, and each door has a door contact sensor. They are connected to the contact sensor outputs on the superbus 2000 driver. Then (programming) on an arm fail, I look to see which window/door was open and then send the push notification. Implementing #3 should be the same conceptually.

My 2ce - Cisco RV series. I run the RV345 and it is very solid, performant, and configurable. House full of c4 and works well together. https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/routers/small-business-rv-series-routers/models-comparison.html

Custom Buttons and Scenario Experience - pros/cons?
cjh replied to zaphod's topic in General Control4 Discussion
Not sure. It was easy enough to just replicate the icons there and keep the structure. Sorry, don't know.
