  1. This is all great to hear! I did like that vendor best. What should I expect regarding the network configuration of the cameras? Is it necessary to put the cameras on their own VLAN? And, would the NVR go on that VLAN as well, or does it need to stay on the main network, if I want to view feeds from C4 and from the ICR app? How would firewall rules work in this case? Sorry for the naive questions. I'm getting a range of recommendations from the various surveillance vendors, and I'm not sure if there is a "gold-standard" approach to this or not.
  2. I am looking for an installer to wire and install IP cameras around our home, using Synology Surveillance Station as NVR, to be integrated into our C4 system. We are in the LA area. Please PM me if this is a potential fit. Thanks
  3. We are getting several quotes on a camera system installation. One vendor proposed using IC Realtime cameras. I see there is a C4 driver for this manufacturer, but I can't find this brand mentioned anywhere on this forum. Does anyone have experience with ease-of-use on these cameras, when it comes to viewing real-time feeds or historical video, and when it comes to creating video clips? Thanks
  4. I don’t know if there is a built-in C4 variable for this. However, failing that, the Chowmain OpenWeather Agent would be able to do what you are looking for.
  5. Doesn’t AprilAire manufacture the Control4 Zigbee thermostats too? That might be one option. Another option is Ecobee, which we use. It integrates nicely with C4, and you will find a lot of Ecobee fans on here.
  6. Good to know. We have a bunch of Synology NAS gear. Is it agnostic about the camera brand, or does it only work with specific brands?
  7. I'm looking into upgrading our Nest cameras to a professional system, but I'm kind of on the fence because of all the complaints I've seen on this forum about how clunky the apps are. The key feature of Nest is the app just works, and the entire family uses it without an issue. What is the C4-compatible camera system with the least crappy app? I just want to be able to access the live camera feeds and scroll through historical footage quickly and easily, like we do with the Nest app; Nest's person detection is also pretty reliable, which is handy for the camera by the front door. Is a functional app too much to ask for in this space, or are some decent options out there?
  8. Thanks, @alanchow. That makes sense. I cross-checked against your list to ensure it matches. Very interesting, thanks. That seems worth looking into as well.
  9. Our HVAC guys apparently prefer to install a Mitsubishi Electric mini split. The model number they proposed is compatible with the Intesis module linked to above. I see Intesis has a "universal" module and a "brand-specific" module. Am I correct that the universal module is the only option of that two that allows me to use either the Mitsubishi's factory remote or Control4, where there is feedback to Control4 even from the factory remote?
  10. No! Just checked and they are not on the same OS. Problem solved. Thanks a lot.
  11. I had two T4 8" touch screens replaced today, because of flickering video in the old ones. My dealer disconnected the old ones in Composer, identified the new ones, and they both seem to be working great, except for one issue. When I access the intercom function on those touch screens, I just get a spinning circle. The Communication Agent in Composer shows them as "not ready." I have restarted the new touch screens several times without success. Is there another step that I need to take here to get them communicating? Thanks a lot.
  12. Is CardAccess gear still being manufactured? I was under the impression it was discontinued. Has it just been rebranded somehow?
  13. Thanks! The Daikin solution looks awesome.
  14. We are thinking of installing a mini split unit to cool our garage. What are the best choices if we want to integrate it? Are there specific brands that integrate more easily, or brands to avoid? Also, what drivers are out there for an application like this? Thanks!
  15. It's more than a little unclear, but the first part of the product brochure (attached) seems to say you can use the Yale Home app for fingerprint access. Let me know if I'm missing something. But, if this is true, we can link the Yale Home hub to C4 with the free driver? leaflet-ydr30ga-17052023.pdf
  16. We are replacing the side gates to our backyard, and I've been looking high and low for gate lock options that could integrate with C4. I've had a hard time finding solutions that work on an outdoor gate though. I noticed Yale is marketing these "smart gate locks" -- https://www.yalehome.com/sg/en/products/smart-door-locks/metal-gate-smart-locks. I can't quite tell if these are wifi connected or just bluetooth. The brochure talks about connection to the Yale Home app, but it doesn't say the locks feature wifi. Is there a way to connect Yale Home Hub devices to C4? (Another, somewhat similar option is this: https://mulhollandbrand.com/alumalock-smartlock/.) More generally, are there other options for gate locks that people are using with C4?
  17. Interestingly, that is exactly how mine started too. By any chance, do you have auto-brightness turned on, so that it dims at night? I notice it seems more likely when brightness changes, and especially when it gets dimmer. (However, this is not a hard and fast rule, only something that appears to predict relative risk.)
  18. It's only in Composer Pro. Some people use the trick of changing the time on the controller, which forces a reboot. You can do that in Composer HE. (Just remember to change it back when it comes online again.) Personally, I just pull the plug, because I don't restart my controller more than 2-3 times per year.
  19. Thanks, that is good to know. I guess it was just an unlucky coincidence that they both went south at the same time.
  20. I have a puzzling problem with two 8" T4 touch screens. A few weeks ago, both of them started intermittently flickering; imagine the screen shifting to the left and back very rapidly to create a flicker. We have 7 other touch screens of different types (5 T4 10" screens and 2 T3's), all of which are fine. While I cannot reproduce the flickering on demand, it seems to be much more likely when the brightness is low, and I have seen this behavior begin immediately after a programmatic change in brightness on numerous occasions. At a minimum, it's highly correlated with changes in brightness and with low brightness settings. I would have assumed this to be a hardware problem, but I'm mystified that the same issue happened at exactly the same time on both of our 8" T4s. It seems pretty unlikely that hardware failures would happen simultaneously on two units. It makes me wonder if this was a bad software update to the touch screens instead. Is this a hardware issue that I should seek replacements for? Or should I just wait for a software fix? I imagine replacements are going to take forever and a day to arrive, so I'm hoping for the latter. Thanks
  21. I may well be confused and/or missing something, but I don't think you need an additional binding. As I recall, the zone driver will be bound to the driver for the Roon core, and then you choose the Blusound node as the endpoint in the properties section of the zone driver in Composer HE.
  22. While I don’t have BluSound, I have a similar situation with Sonos, and I am able to leverage both the Sonos and Roon drivers. I assume you should be able to do the same. Dumb question: what happens when you install an instance of the the Roon zone driver and attempt to select the BluSound zone in properties?
  23. That is a bit of a bummer. When we route C4 announcements through Sonos, there is no delay, regardless of whether the Sonos is playing music or doing nothing. How does Josh.ai connect to Sonos in your case? I'm just trying to puzzle out why announcements on Sonos would be instantly heard, but josh would suffer from a lag. (In case it matters, we don't have an audio matrix, but just have a Sonos unit in each room.)
  24. Z2IO is a native C4 product with a native driver: https://www.control4.com/docs/product/z2io/data-sheet/english/latest//z2io-data-sheet-rev-c.pdf The C4 IO extender or controller options would only be if you already have one close by; otherwise, they are overkill.
  25. Out of curiosity, do you use an NVR?
