Currently do, won't always.
New changes will come to shut all of it down.
Their work has been fantastic research to read through.

And then a hacker gets it and 'oh well'.
Licensing and restrictions will not be going away, in fact, they will be doing the opposite.

.1% of users complain about no Pro access.
It's doubtful Pro will be available in any form to a user, but alternative methods of customization might exist.

That has been discussed, but it was scrapped in favor of alternatives, like the Neeo's self-add ability and the Add Music driver.
End user functionality, if added, will not come in the form of Composer Pro.

-defunct- got a reaction from Tech Junkie in What is Best Practice for Transferring C4 System to new Homeowner?
Log out of all your personal streaming accounts.
Your dealer or a dealer should be able to work with the new owner to transfer the registration to a new account.
Composer HE license is tied to your account, but it is not recommended to give that account to the new home owner as it will not be a clean slate on the Control4 cloud-side.

Keep your account for future use, or have it deleted by Control4 if not.
If you want Contol4 in any new place, that HE license is good for life, but you must keep the same account.
As for what to give the new owner, a dealer will have to register the system, so I would unregister it from your account after logging out of all the personal streaming services.
No info is required to transfer from the old owner to the new owner. The dealer can register the system to a new account as long as the system is unregistered.

Respect old dealer's rights as their customer. I have heard it before.

-defunct- got a reaction from wnpublic in Do NOT buy from BLACKWIRE
Fairly sure Blackwire only allows purchases by dealers, so original purchaser will always be the installing dealer.

The defenses of this model are hilarious...and telling.

This forum is the best.

Sure, but what are you doing in THIS thread? Someone has said something that impugns the honor of C4 over here:
better get over there and straighten em out. Too funny.

Thank you for all your prompt replies, I certainly appreciate your help.

Removing the system is the same as logging out. When you log back in, your associated system will be re-added automatically.

Had to see what you meant by that and I honestly had no idea about the etymology of that phrase. 😳 Only understood where it had been used not at all related to the etymology. Going to find a different way to explain that. Maybe gimmicky is more fitting.

Ah, Ubiquiti fan. Explains everything.
I would never buy Ubiquiti personally. THAT is a hot piece of trash.

Out of curiosity, what thermostats were used for that large of a heating/cooling system?
What pool controller do you have?
What model of video doorbell do you have?
Sorry for your experience, most, if not all, of your complaints would change if you found a dealer and professional you trusted.
If I had that big of a house, I think I'd have more important things to do than tinker with my smart system and would be hiring it out to someone I trust even though I am very technical and could do it myself. Time is limited, so it should be spent wisely.

If what you say is accurate, why have you put up with this for 7 years? And why are you still putting up with it? It is probably time to get a new dealer involved and to even get a lawyer involved to force your current dealer to cover the cost of having a new dealer fix your system. Honestly, you the homeowner are the problem here. I was taught at a young age to expect what I tolerate. Stop tolerating such poor performance.

-defunct- reacted to RyanE in Philips Hue and Control4 - Possible to share Zigbee coordinator/network?
Not exactly correct, Control4 uses the standard Zigbee Pro join pre-shared key, but Control4 does require an additional Zigbee Cluster, which 3rd party devices do not support, and also requires a driver for the device be found during the join process, or the device is kicked off of Control4's mesh.
Due to these 2 incompatibilities, Control4's Zigbee mesh does not let 'external' 3rd-party devices join.

This sounds like a chicken and egg problem...
Also, sounds like a security hole waiting to happen.

The app regularly needs to re-authenticate (security reasons), so yes it can get affected if it's 'time is up' to do so.
